My husband and I have visited Exuma many times and were happy to see the new ONE80 restaurant which is part of Turquoise Cay (just before the bridge across to Little Exuma). Well worth the drive out of George Town for amazing food in a magical setting.
Thankfully we discovered this restaurant on our first day. On arriving back on the island we wanted to have lunch overlooking the beautiful turquoise blue ocean and kick off our holiday in style. We certainly did this.
The staff here are lovely. Justin our waiter is a such a lovely and genuine guy. He is a local from Exuma and very knowledgeable if you ask him about the island. Adi the manager is fantastic and clearly knows what she is doing. Adi has experience of working all over the world and is a great asset to Turquoise Cay.
Ok so onto the food.....Pedro the head chef from Columbia certainly knows how to prepare a top quality meal using the finest of ingredients. I ate the filet steak topped with Foie Gras served with Potato Dauphinoise. Absolutely delicious with steak to die for and cooked to perfection. You can tell that Pedro has spent time cooking and learning his trade in France. My husband went for the sticky ribs which were the best he has had! The menu choice was superb with magret de canard (duck breast) and much more.
After we had finished dining we had drinks and coffee on the beautiful deck outside. This is beautifully lit and a lovely ambiance.
My opinion is that people shouldn't be criticized for "raising the bar" for dining and ambiance experience on the island. All the produce is shipped into the island so why not go for something with a bit of quality.
Can't wait to go back there on our next visit.
