“"A hidden gem"”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

Frangipani is a gem located on that bigger gem, Great Exuma. It's located in a remote location, in a small settlement, on an awful road - and I'd eat there three times a day if I could. This restaurant is perfect for Exuma. Delicious food, prepared by friendly, loving people and served with casual elegance. My family and friends dined there four times during August and September, and pretty much sampled the entire menu. The Chef/Owners insist on only the freshest ingredients, so don't be surprised if certain items are not available on any given night. Forget the menu, and go with the flow - ask David or Francesca what they recommmend that day. Great pasta, seafood - the lobster rissotto is a must. The meat (lamb of steak) is top notch - frankly that is unusual for a small island like Exuma. Be sure and have the Chianti poached pear for desert (a Rome regional specialty - David and Francesca's home).
Allow plenty of time for apertifs before dinner - the seaside setting is magical. Try to go at sunset. Dress is island casual as is the seating. Kick back and relax. Prices may shock some but local residents (like me) understand the costs and difficulty getting high quality ingredients to our little piece of paradise. It's only these limitations that made me select four stars for food and value. Service can be (rarely) spotty but was improved on each of our succesive visits - takes time to bring a new place up to speed! We NEVER left dissapointed. Frangipani would be a rising star in any great dining city arond the world.
Exuma is becoming a "must visit" destination and the island dining choices are fast improving. Frangipani is at the top of the list.

“Exquisite dining - not to be missed!”
Reviewed September 21, 2013

This new little gem is not to be missed. We were staying at the Grand Isle Resort and to drive to Frangipani is quite a hike. We drove after sunset and missed the small restaurant sign but the locals pointed the way. The last bit of road is very bad but don't be dismayed it is well worth the drive. Upon arrival we were escorted to the patio and given a glass of Italian sparkling wine. As we sipped we watched the amazing lightening as it lit up the clouds and water. All to soon it started to rain and we were then escorted to our table. Our table was one of five in the small diningroom. Much of the menu was on a blackboard along with some of the wines. We chose delicious appetizers, followed by fresh, flavourful pastas....try the lobster ravioli. For dessert we chose the poached pear and 4 forks...what a mistake, we should have had 2 poached pear desserts with the 4 forks. It was amazing! Our host/owner David was an absolute delight to talk to. It was so interesting to hear their story and the plans they have for the future. Call early to reserve your spot so you won't be disappointed. This will be our first stop on our next trip to Exuma.

“Wonderful”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

The owner met my husband, our 9 year old daughter, and myself at the door & escorted us to the deck. We started the evening relaxing on the deck and enjoying the amazing views and a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. I could go on & on about this restaurant. But I'll condense by saying: the owner & his chef wife & their 2 wonderful sons gave us the best dining experience of our lives. Best views, best hospitality, best food. Ever. My only complaint is that we didn't discover Frangipani until our last night on the island, but what a way to finish our vacation! Thanks!

“A fantastic Italian dining experience in Exuma”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

A taste of the most creative and modern Italian cuisine just in the middle of the Caribbean. The chef Francesca , her husband Davide and their two sparkling kids, just brought from Italy a new touch to the Exuma dining panorama. My wife and I went on for dinner yesterday and was a pleasant experience. After enjoying a freshly prepared "aperitivo italiano" on the back deck, overlooking the bay,we started the dinner with a delicious " calamari tempura" and an interesting glazed prawns. Then we went on with a freshly homemade "ravioli lobster" and an original interpretaton of a popular recipe "bucatini cacio e pepe". Unfortunately we had no room left for tasting the desserts but this could be a good excuse to get back to Frangipani, soon.
