Frangipani is a gem located on that bigger gem, Great Exuma. It's located in a remote location, in a small settlement, on an awful road - and I'd eat there three times a day if I could. This restaurant is perfect for Exuma. Delicious food, prepared by friendly, loving people and served with casual elegance. My family and friends dined there four times during August and September, and pretty much sampled the entire menu. The Chef/Owners insist on only the freshest ingredients, so don't be surprised if certain items are not available on any given night. Forget the menu, and go with the flow - ask David or Francesca what they recommmend that day. Great pasta, seafood - the lobster rissotto is a must. The meat (lamb of steak) is top notch - frankly that is unusual for a small island like Exuma. Be sure and have the Chianti poached pear for desert (a Rome regional specialty - David and Francesca's home).
Allow plenty of time for apertifs before dinner - the seaside setting is magical. Try to go at sunset. Dress is island casual as is the seating. Kick back and relax. Prices may shock some but local residents (like me) understand the costs and difficulty getting high quality ingredients to our little piece of paradise. It's only these limitations that made me select four stars for food and value. Service can be (rarely) spotty but was improved on each of our succesive visits - takes time to bring a new place up to speed! We NEVER left dissapointed. Frangipani would be a rising star in any great dining city arond the world.
Exuma is becoming a "must visit" destination and the island dining choices are fast improving. Frangipani is at the top of the list.
