Naturally one of the thrills of renting your own boat is to explore those remote, empty white sandy beaches. We motored on over from George Town to Stocking Island, in particular Starfish(-less) Beach (the Starfish must have been on vacation!). We discovered a crude hut, that seemed to be a meeting place for cruisers. In the back, a trail led us to the 'official' "Shoe Tree Trail", which meandered over to the Ocean Side of the island. WOW! Black jagged cliffs guarding against the most deep blue sea we've ever seen. A tidepooler's dream as well. Empty. Deserted. Ours. Paradise. And, on this trail there really is a tree covered with shoes! Go explore!

Chat & Chill, nice walkable beaches, and decent food. What's not to like? Elvis's Water Taxi has the cheapest beer around at $3/bottle; water is $1/bottle. Conch Salad at Chat & Chill is $10 - watch out for the habanero salsa

Beautiful beach and amazing sunset. Cool to be up close with the friendly stingrays. Bit of a party atmosphere.

If you're in Exuma in winter, you've surely seen the sailboats anchored throughout the islands. Why do so many folks buy a boat and sail to The Bahamas? To do exactly what you can do by taking a launch from Minns Warer Sports (starting at around $165/day) or taking Elvis's Water Taxi ($12 round trip) and heading to the Chat & Chill and Stocking Island and endless beaches in the lee of the island. Conch sandwich ($6) is great (order cole slaw ($4) and put it atop the conch patty. Sunday pig roast ($20) is pretty good too. As others have said, conch salad from the small shack is very good - careful with the habenero salsa though. Bring a beach towel and a book and spend the day - "laid back" doesn't describe the vibe here. It's a nice day trip from Georgetown - thanks Elvis for your special help.

A must do !!!
From George Town, take the water taxi with Captain Elvis for $12 round trip service from 10:00AM to 6:00PM, every Sunday Pig Roast at Chat-N-Chill, and the best fresh Conch Salad prepared by A.J, Great Beach and friendly people.
