“Forget it”
Reviewed April 19, 2010

This had to be worst customer service I have ever experienced. Our bulter was a no show for the first two days of our 7 day holiday. He did not answer the telephone, and messages for service were not carried out. We notified management with no remedy so we basically fired our bulter and took care of our own needs for the remainder of our stay.

Other service at the hotel was not much better, we waited 20 minutes at breakfast for a menu when there was maybe ten people in the whole restaurant. .
We ordered pizza at lunch, waited an hour and a half and probably never would have been served,by the pool. The pizza was on the counter in the kitchen getting cold.
We ordered drinks in the pub from three different servers, not one ever returned with a drink.
We went to our room. The hotel opened without concern for the bugs that are rampant on the beach. I received no less than 400 bug bites had an allergic reaction and as a result was on two medications and two creams upon return to Canada. Sandals did not spray or dust for the bugs when they knew there was an issue. Lastly Sandals has not I repeat has not contacted us regardly our less than enjoyable trip. The lacking customer service continues.

Private butler service was great but took a few days to get accustomed to. Don't hesitate to ask butler for whatever you need. They truly want to make your vacation relaxing and wonderful.

As soon as we stepped out of the taxi at the lobby...we knew we were in for a great vacation. Our butler met us with cold towels to freshen up and a glass of chilled champagne. You can see the tower from the main pool and the beach as you walk in the lobby. She gave us a quick tour of the resort and then took us to our room. Our room was on the 3rd floor in building #4. We had a great view of the beach with no obstructions. The room was very spacious and beautiful. She quickly gave us all the instructions such as the famous butler phone. Basically, they don't want you to go to the front desk for anything. Everything goes through them...dinner reservations, excursions, golf, room service, cooler with favorite drinks...etc... We were meeting friends who were already there for dinner that night. Our butler was aware of this and offered to unpack our luggage so we could go and meet them right away. We accepted and all I can tell you is that when we got back and opened the closet and drawers...it was like being in a store. Everything was beautifully packed and some items were ironed and then hanged in the closet.
Butler service was excellent! We were fortunate to have Trudy and Nixon as our butlers during our 10 day stay. They were excellent! They would contact us either by phone or by finding us on the beach or by the pool to see if we needed anything. We really got spoiled!
The food and drinks were wonderful! Il Cielo was our favorite! It is a high cuisine Italian restaurant. Bahama Bay has an interesting concept. It is a semi a la carte...so you order from the menu but they have a salad bar but not the typical salad bar. One night they had lobster tails and crab legs. They have seafood and fish galore. The Drunken Duck Pub and Barefoot are very laid back. No buffets...everything is a la carte.
The beach is so beautiful...it is breathtaking! Amazing colors of green and blue! The water was warm with waves. We had a few red flag days which means you can swim but no water activities. There are always spots with palapas available...you don't have to get up early to reserve spots. They offered scuba, snorkelling, hobie cats, catamarans and wind surfing for water activities. They also had volley-ball games on the beach. Fun!
The main pool is nice and cool! The pool bar was by far the busiest but you can get drinks at the Drunken Duck or at Barefoot which are right there. They have cabanas and parasols around the pool. The cabanas were always taken by the time we were there ut we could always find a parasol. There is a large section that has shade for those who need it. There is also a quiet pool. It is just that...very quiet with nice loungers and cabanas.
We played 2 rounds of golf at their Greg Norman golf course. Amazing! Beautiful and challenging! They have 6 holes that have the most beautiful views of the ocean. Golfers...do not miss this. It is not included in the price but well worth it!
We went to the managers cocktail and we spoke with a few of the managers. One was telling us that they are planning to add more buildings and beachfront villas in the near future. They also plan to add 7 more restaurants plus a golf clubhouse. They are juggling between a disco or a casino. I would like it to be a casino...but that's me!
All in all everything was perfect! The staff is super friendly and efficient! The resort is beautiful! The food is wonderful! We are definitly going back next year!

In a nutshell this place is a jewel in the caribbean. My wife and I stayed for 5 nights in one of the villas on the beach. Never thought a room could change a vacation but this one did. Right on the beach, huge room, easy access to pool, and a patio with 2 chairs, eating tablet and 2 chase lounge chairs. If you can put out the extra money do it and you won't regret it. The beach, the staff, the food, the service was just fantastic. There is a little of a communication barrier to overcome with our butlers but other than that they were great and tried really hard for us. Played the back nine of the golf course and it is just gorgeous. Sure there maybe tougher courses out there and it is pricey but again well worth it. Did the Chat and Chill with the sting rays and had an awesome day. This is a must do. Bottom line is we will be back next year, have to stay in a villa, and this resort will only get better.

We have been to Sandals on 11 occasions and we are headed to Sandals in Nassau in May 2010. We have loved every trip. Some locations we have loved more than others but that is the nature of the beast. Sandals pride themselves in their people and their mission.
My wife was worried that I would be bored a Emerald Bay but it was just the opposite. I woke up every morning early so I would not miss any minute of the day. We had our butlers, Shameer and Henry bring fresh fruit and sticky buns to the room @ 7:00 a.m. every day. We hit the gym for the eco walk with Ranford most days . The walk was a great way to start the day and the laughs made life good. Back the resort to have a little more breakfast of smoked salmon and capers. Fit for a king. Then the hard part began. To the pool to float and rest . The sleep and read . To visit and laugh. Such a hard day. The Italian restaurant was amazing. Barefoot on the beach was great. The Drunken Duck pub was the jewel of the resort . The service was amazing and the fun was meeting the people . Adrian was great . Opal bought me my 1st beer and on each occasion she had one in my hand within 15 seconds of me walking in the door. They took the time to talk to you and make friends with you. The food was amazing . We like what we ate . The soups were amazing and we liked all the food on other peoples plates. It was like being a food critic and everything was A+. Sandals have the process covered to the Nth degree. The manager was the most approachable manager that we have ever met. We mentioned that we missed a plain coffee maker in our room and within a few minutes we had one when we got back to the room. Maja was a sweetheart . I can close my eyes and remember her smile and enthusiasum. That makes me smile and I will " come soon back " Sandals cover the location . Thats what they do . Their people make it so worthwhile and memorable. We have made friends from Halifax, Oakville, London. You know who you are . We miss you . Please try this resort out and just relax and take it all in. Don't snore too loud when you float in the pool.

My husband & I had the pleasure to visit Sandals, Emerald Bay from March 21-28. I could make this review ever lasting, but I would rather sum it all up in a few short sentences. Either of us could find anything to complain about. I'm sure when the staff leave their shifts for the day...their faces must be sore from smiling as this is all they do!!! FANTASTIC PROPERTY, STAFF, FOOD, DRINKS, BEACH, ACCOMMODATIONS, ETC....We so miss everyone who was part of this wonderful experience!!

Mr. John Keating...keep up the good work as it sure shows what a fantastic job you and your staff have done so far. Thank you for joining us for dinner and informing us of all the great plans for EM. We are looking so forward to returning in a few years!

My wife and I just returned from ten days at the Sandals Emerald Bay, our third Sandals vacation, and had an absolutely wonderful time. The property itself, of course, is beautiful and the water can only be described as magical in both color and clarity. Our room was very spacious with a beautiful view of the bay from our balcony. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom roomy and very well supplied with toiletries, robes and linens. Housekeeping staff – the best ever!

We found the service in the restaurants to be outstanding. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with champagne and, while waiting for our butlers, were offered lunch at the Bahama Bay. Autherine and Glen waited on us and were extremely accommodating, friendly, and welcoming. A great first impression of what was to come. The omelet chef made perfect omelets each morning - any way you liked! All of our meals in Bahama Bay were absolutely delicious. The food and staff at El Cielo were also exceptional. Davian waited on us most nights and took care of our every need. Sheiria made some very tasty cappuccinos to accompany each evening’s dessert. The shrimp and blackened tuna at the Barefoot were to die for!

The watersports staff was also attentive and accommodating. Charisma (appropriately named) in the watersports kiosk was very outgoing and always greeted everyone with a huge smile and cute sense of humor. While they are still trying to locate a few more dive sites, the dive crew was the most customer service oriented we have ever experienced. We dove with them for four days. The dive staff helped everyone assemble gear, change tanks, assemble weights, take gear down at the end of the dive, and then rinse gear back at the marina. They brought pastries, fruit and bottled water for everyone. Leslie was always gladly helping everyone assemble gear, answering questions and taking gear down at the end of the dive. Bancroft was also right there pitching in with a great smile and friendly demeanor pointing out anything interesting along the boat ride. Samuel, the boat captain, was offering water and a helping hand at every turn. The safety procedures were very complete with a thorough briefing for each dive and complete roster check both into and out of the water for each dive. We have never enjoyed the kind of customer care on a dive boat like we had at Sandals Emerald Bay.

All of the ladies at Island Routes were very helpful in booking tours. Rebecca was a great resource for different island itineraries. The Exzooma tour is worth every penny if you want to get a true essence of the islands. Ray and Justin were a huge part of the excellence of this tour and were very entertaining and will show you some of the most gorgeous waters and beaches in the world. Thoroughly enjoyed bone fishing as well.
We had the pleasure of dining with John Keating, the general manager, at the returning guest dinner. He was both charming and informative in his enthusiasm about his plans for the resort. He described his quest for creating the ultimate customer service resort experience and we saw evidence that it absolutely is working! As my wife and I were returning from our last dive with all of our wet gear, a butler (didn’t happen to be one of our butlers), Rajneesh, insisted on helping us with our scuba gear, schlepping it all the way back to our room at the far end of the resort with the greatest smile and most positive demeanor. No matter what we were trying to carry, drinks, dive gear, luggage, it seemed someone wanted to help! Our butlers, Grince and Tony, made every attempt to create unforgettable moments from wine and cheese and/or chocolate covered strawberries (my favorite) in our room to floral decorations on our bed in the evening. Jaime at the pool bar makes the best BBC’s ever and is quite entertaining in the process – great sense of humor.

I suppose it goes without saying we have made reservations here for next year, which is highly unusual for us. We usually vacation two or three times a year but have always traveled to new destinations each time. Our returning to Sandals Emerald Bay is testimony to the fact that we fell in love with the accommodations, the island, and most importantly the Sandals Emerald Bay staff – they were phenomenal.
