This was our 2nd time to Sandals Emerald Bay (3rd visit to Sandals) and everything was amazing. From the GM meeting and greeting U at the airport to every staff member on the resort, they all go above and beyond to help with anything and everything. Special thanks to Kenny (Photography) and Carleton (Drunken Duck) for helping us with all questions and concerns we had. As far as dining, great food everywhere and would like to thank Jewels (Italian restaurant) and Anfroy (Barefoot, Bahama Bay and Junkanoo) for making our dining experience memorable. Also, please ask the staff at The Drunken Duck for a "Canadian Killer Kool-Aid".

Room Tip: Have seen 3 different types of rooms and they are all good. Everything faces the ocean.

This was our 4th trip to Sandals Emerald Bay. Two reasons why we keep returning: 1) the beauty of Exuma and 2) Sandals consist service and quality. Exuma is truly special. We have traveled all over the Caribbean, and there is no comparison to the ocean here. We have been to most of the Sandals resorts, and this is one of the best. The service at this resort is excellent. I can honestly say I never ate a bad meal and never experienced an unfriendly employee. How many resorts can you say that about? It did seem like most people did not take the time to visit with the employees. This is really sad because they are so friendly.
Special thanks to Amy McHugh at Dream Makers Vacation Services and David Kerr with Sandals for making this trip wonderful.
Weather: Exuma is very windy January through March. If you travel during this time, there is a good chance diving will be cancelled at least half of the week because the boat cannot go out due to the high waves. Just be aware, and if diving is important to you, maybe book some other time of the year. The wind does keep the sand flies away. We were there the end of March. The temperature was perfect, in the upper 70’s and water temperature about the same.
Butlers: We had butlers for the first 3 visits. This time we decided to skip the butler. In my opinion, having a butler is a very nice addition, but not an absolute necessity. Without butler service, room service consists of sandwiches and burgers and the liquor in the room was not top-shelf. With a butler, you can get just about anything from room service, and top-shelf liquor that your request. You get more with butler, but you pay more, so it depends how much it means to you. If you expect to be pampered and treated special, you will probably be disappointed without a butler.
Food: The French and Italian restaurants were both very good and did not disappoint. The best food we ate – French: Lamb, Filet. Italian: Lobster, Lasagna. Pub: Hot wings.
Returning guest dinner was on Wednesday night, and it was packed. 144 people attended. It was impressive they way that they were able to serve that many people each course all at the exact same time. The resort was busier than I have ever seen it. Even with the big crowd, we always received quick service, and never had more than a few minutes to wait to be seated at the restaurants.
Beaches: Sandals is located on an unbelievably beautiful beach, but also note that there are tons of spots just a spectacular if not much better. You are doing yourself injustice if you don’t rent a car for at least a day and see the other beaches. Find the shallows at Rolle Town – you will not believe your eyes. The local people are the very special and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet.

This is the most immaculately manicured resort I've ever been to. This is the 4th different Sandals we've been to and this was by far the best kept. There is a full time crew working round the clock (well it seemed that way) keeping everything pristine.

Before you arrive the resort suggests you bring insect repellent - I didn't. I have been to the Caribbean 7 times before and have never had any problem with insects. I have been to the Bahamas twice before, again no insect problem. They put a can of insect repellent in the room. I never saw an insect here, so I ignored the can, I really don't like the idea of spraying my body with poison - and if there are no critters, why do so? Big Mistake! Heed their warning! Apparently the sand flies are "no-see-ums" and if they like your flavor, they feast away. Luckily, the first three days we were there were very windy and apparently the little fellows didn't stand a chance. But by the fourth day, the wind died down and they were starving. You don't feel them biting you. You just notice small red dots covering you arms and legs - can't feel them that day. But the next day they have become large red welts, and the day after that they are blisters that sting and itch - uncomfortable and unsightly. Luckily, there is a nurse on property happy to dispense medicated swabs, cream, and antihistamine tablets. So, I started spraying after that and didn't received any additional bites. The nurse said they like some people better than others and that she sees many more women than men.

The sea is a beautiful turquoise, the sand is a fine, powdery, soft, brilliant white.

Six lighted tennis courts, well placed to be sheltered from the wind. Rackets and balls available.

The water in the main swimming pool was frigid! Very few were able to brave the cold.

Gift shop is quite small and had essentials, but nothing exciting in the way of gifts to take home.

Had butler service, and comparing it to other Sandals it was okay - a little inconsistent. One day a butler would come by every hour to bring a drink or a snack and check if we needed anything. The next day, wouldn't hear from a butler the entire day.

Over all the attitude of the employees was inconsistent. You'd get a nice smile and greeting from one of the gardeners, then the restaurant hostess treated you like you were an inconvenience.

They had many activities available both day and night. There were yoga classes, tennis lessons, the piano bar, dancing under the stars, a great saxophone player and on and on.

Get a window seat on the plane. The landscape is amazing. The scenery was like nothing I've seen before.

Room Tip: Ocean view room from the Bay Village rooms is quite far from the ocean - view is pretty, but distant...

Jaquay, who was a server at the French Restaurant, was our best server during our vacation in April 2014. She was professional, friendly, knowledgeable about the resort and the island and most importantly she really cared about making our dining experience enjoyable. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to enjoy the delicious meal, which we loved loved loved! Hats off to the Chef's also!.

Room Tip: Lower units in the bulter villas are quiet. You do not hear anyone above you even though there are s...

We have visited this resort multiple times because of the outstanding beach, great staff, and quality resort which has something for everyone. And, we are Sandals' regulars. However, our vacation last week was less than the usual "perfect" -- not because of the resort, the food, nor the wonderful staff - which did not disappoint - but rather - because of the number of very large groups that seemed to monopolize the resort. The beautiful beach...and even the "Quiet Pool" were dominated by extremely loud crowds of co-workers waxing on about sales achievements, sales techniques and trying to one-up each other. I go on vacation to relax and get away from business, but it was impossible to do so this time. I understand that, for Sandals, large groups are a great business strategy, but in all my years, I never can't ever recall having to complete for chairs, tables, and quiet corners to relax. Yesterday at breakfast, my spouse and I could not carry on a conversation because we were drowned out by the large table of obnoxiously loud golfers next to us, discussing the hours during the day that they achieve the highest sales returns. If this is Sandals new business strategy then I am afraid I will need to find another resort chain for vacation. In speaking with the resort employees, it appears as if these large group visits are now very common (and that some groups are over 150 people who take over the pool and other areas). They are loud, obnoxious and are there to compete, not relax. I would suggest that the staff be trained to place these groups in their own areas so their extremely loud and pompous chatter can be contained for those who are interested in listening to it and the rest of us who shelled out big dollars from our own pockets to enjoy a restful vacation can have quiet time to ourselves.

Arrived on March 30th and the weather was just perfect. Connected with our transfer and headed for the resort. We were greeted by our butler and told that our room would not be ready for about 2 hours. hmmm... Finally got to our room and everything was as we had expected. The room was beautiful. What can I say....the rest of the week was bliss! Our butlers (3) were outstanding and the resort was perfect. I highly recommend all you golfers out there to take advantage of the Greg Norman designed golf course for an experience that you can only get here. The food at the various restaurants was superb and service very professional. We stayed in the Prime Minister Suite and believe me , you wanted for "NOTHING". Our butlers managed to surprise us every day with little things set up in our suite because it was our 35th anniversary but I don't think that matters. They seemed to want to please us no matter what the occasion was. Special thanks to our butlers Garth, Cecil and Anastacia! I also want to convey my thanks to Jeremy Hutton for running an excellent resort that Sandals can be proud of.
I was so impressed that I have booked the same room for Xmas of 2014 and have also booked the Royal Estate for Xmas of 2015.That will be a blast of a lifetime ...hahaha!

Room Tip: If you want luxury PLUS go for the prime minister suite. Expensive but heh....you only live once!

We have just returned from our first trip at Sandals Emerald Bay and have enjoyed our previous stays at Sandals in Jamaica, St. Lucia & Antigua and at Beaches in Turks and Caicos. After booking our trip, I read some reviews and wondered if we had made a mistake by booking without a butler (this is a service we feel is unnecessary). We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to returning! The beach is beautiful and CLEAN! Take a short walk down the beach and you notice a difference where the next resort begins. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. Thank you to the grounds keepers and water sports for the exceptional work!
The resort was at full capacity but had no trouble booking restaurants. Our meals were what we have come to expect at Sandals. Barefoot by the Sea, the French and Italian restaurants were wonderful and breakfast buffet at Bahama Bay had many choices.
We do not golf but enjoyed snorkeling, water aerobics, the massages at the Red Lane Spa and just relaxing since it was a long cold winter in New Hampshire.
Thank you Carla in concierge and Sharlaine, guest relation manager, for making our visit so enjoyable!
