I have never stayed at a prettier property and the service is the best I have ever experienced. Everyone from the maids, to the servers, bartenders and even the grounds people were warm, friendly, attentive and sincere. I have been to five other Sandals and this is the best of all by far, with one exception. The food, although wonderful, was not as good as some of the other Sandals. The chain uses preportioned frozen fish and steaks throughout, but these were not prepared quite as well as some of the other properties.

Still, no complaints, just a goal for improvement.

The internet should be free.

Room Tip: the suites are worth an upgrade

My wife and I have stayed at 5 Sandals properties and found the service excellent at all, including Emerald Bay, so there is nothing more to say on that. Moving on, Emerald Bay's location is very far from the commonly visited areas of the Bahamas. The only direct flights from the U.S. are from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Atlanta, so chances are you will be catching connecting flights in one of these cities, San Juan, or Nassau. We flew from Newark to Atlanta and then to Exuma Int'l in Georgetown, Bahamas on Delta. No problems. When you see the little Georgetown airport you will know you have truly escaped. It is a small collection of one story buildings of island style architecture, and painted yellow. You will clear customs/immigration and be on your way quickly. Sandals is a beautiful resort about 15 minutes from the airport. The only luxury hotel of any size in the Exumas. It allows you to stay at a very comfotable, modern place, with great service, while not being in an overdeveloped tourist area (it is much like their Whitehouse property in Jamaica in that regard, but a very different style of hotel otherwise). The only downside is some inconsistency in dining. Some meals were excellent. These would be Bahama Bay (buffet), and Il Cielo (Italian). The Drunken Duck pub is also very good and a great place for drinks with a great staff. Barefoot by the Sea was very good for lunch, but at dinner one of our meals was not prepared properly (medium came out very rare). La Parisienne was good but not great.
If you visit the Exumas you must do a full day adventure boat tour. The many islands, cays, and rocks are incredibly beautiful. I have only seen this type of setting in magazines, and only rarely. Islands occupied only by Iguanas, or pigs. Water so clear you can see over thirty feet down from the surface when it gets that deep. Water in blues and greens that you will only see in a few places on Earth. And amazing snorkeling. I went with Captain Pat and Andrew of Four C's Adventure Tours. About half the price you would pay at Sandals tour desk and worth every penny. He has a web site that will come up if you search Four C's Adventure Tours on Bing, Google, etc., and you can contact him through the site or by phone. I will try to add his website later if I can.
One last thing. As with many tropical destinations, there are nasty mosquitoes. There is OFF in the rooms. They fog in the morning and at sunset, but they will still get you if you don't use repellant. I have always used original Skin So Soft. I think you can get it from Avon. It is a light oil that wasn't created for the purpose, but was later found to be an excellent insect repellant, and it doesn't smell bad.
Sorry this got to be so long. The resort is beautiful, with a long white beach, nice pools, and fantastic employees (ALL OF THEM). I wish I was still there.

Room Tip: We booked the second least expensive and the room was third floor and great.

Last summer I wrote to Sandals executives informing them that my wife and I were
extremely displeased with our stay at the Sandals Whitehouse, and were contemplating
never visiting another Sandals. This year, I am delighted to let you know that our
confidence in Sandals has been restored with our recent visit to Sandals Emerald Bay from
September 27 to October 2, 2011.

The turnabout began when we received a call from the Director of Guest Services, Sonya
Herzberg, who gave us an upgrade to a luxurious Crystal Honeymoon Penthouse
Oceanview Junior Suite with a beautiful ocean view. Sonya was so very pleasant and
cordial, and treated us, and other guests whom we passed as she escorted us to visit
available rooms, with the utmost respect. We were even so fortunate as to sit with her at
the Sandals Select Dinner.

Last year, we complained about the lack of cordiality that we received from the staff. I am
happy to say that the hospitality displayed by all the staff, from housekeeping personnel to
members of the management team, at Sandals Emerald Bay was nothing short of
spectacular! Will we visit Sandals Emerald Bay again, and another Sandals resort for that
matter, due to our experience this vacation – absolutely, yes! Will we recommend Sandals
Emerald Bay to our family and friends due to our experience this year – yes!

I would like to highlight a few other staff members who made our stay at Sandals Emerald
Bay delightful. To the young ladies who work at Café de Paris (Tyeisha, Stevevona,
Christaine, and Javardia), our hats are off for your friendliness, personal attention, and
engaging style of meeting your guests’ “sweet treat” needs. Also, we want to express our
appreciation to the male waiter at The Drunken Duck Pub who values his customers so
much that he remembered exactly what we ordered on a subsequent visit. With the wait
staff serving so many guests every day, that is a feat. Also, to David who hosted our
snorkeling cruise to the sandbar, thank you for one of the best snorkeling tours that we
have experienced. Finally, thanks to the restaurant manager of La Parisienne who
accommodated us on Saturday, the last evening of our stay, by reserving a table for us
although we were late making a reservation, and to our server who was so gracious and
entertaining. Because of you, we were able to savor your rich French cuisine.

To all the staff at Sandals Emerald Bay, we say thank you for making this a most wonderful
vacation and time of relaxation and pleasure. It is you who will make guests return to visit
the gorgeous island of Great Exuma time and time again. You are truly the best!

Room Tip: The Crystal Honeymoon Penthouse Oceanview Junior Suites are awesome and have a stunning view of the...

We take an annual trip without the kids for just the two of us. We were looking for a nice relaxing atmosphere, where we could take it easy, with beautiful scenery. I think we found it! This place was beautiful, especially the view of the light blue ocean water out over the white sand. We had a great time. This was our first experience at an all-inclusive resort, and we loved it. We never felt a need to leave the resort. The only down side was that for the first two days we had high winds, so we couldn't do the watersports that we wanted, like kayaking and sailing. However, we did get to do a little of those on our last day.

Room Tip: We were glad we didn't pay extra for a first floor room, since our view of the ocean was better...

If your looking for a beach wedding followed by a fantastic place to honeymoon, look no further. This is the place. One mile of white powder sand beach and a beautiful resort, Sandals Emerald Bay is fabulous. We spent 10 days at the resort and their wedding department is the best. The service, the resort, the food, the pool, the water sports, the rooms, the view and more is all perfect. Enjoy!

Room Tip: If the cost of a butler Villa is too much we stayed in building 2 on the 3rd floor with no buildings...

We have just returned home from our second visit to Sandal Emerald Bay, and again it was nothing short of amazing. The property is even more beautiful this year than last and the ocean was calm and incredible for the first half of our visit, it enabled us to enjoy the water sports and the beach.

The restaurants have improved so much, all of our meals were incredible, especially the surf and turf at Barefoot by the Sea, we had it twice and both times amazing. Our room, the same as last year, by our request was clean and extremely comfortable, we enjoyed our evenings on the deck taking in all the scenery and just relaxing.

Now for the very best part, our butler Michael was truly wonderful, he is in our mind Sandals and all they say they are. He was so attentive and on top of things he knew what we wanted even before we did. He was continually surprising us with outstanding service and spoiling us beyond belief. The beautiful decorations in our room with all the wonderful flowers, all the tubs that were run for me, our fun tour of the back nine, our pool chairs always set up and bringing us the best shrimp and lemonade in the Bahamas. Thank you Michael you made our vacation truly memorable, we miss you.

Thank you to Beverly for the arranging of our Vow Renewal, you did a great job of making us feel special, the flowers, cake and the beach were all just perfect. We love the photo's that we have as memories.

Kerry, the pub manager is an incredible bundle of energy that takes the time to talk to all guests and is so fun to be around, she treated us like old friends, thanks so much and we miss you "beary much".. haha

Thank you to the management team for helping us avoid the fogging machines, due to my allergy, they really cared that we be aware and even went so far as to not fog close to our room, for this we are very grateful. Thank you.

So once again we have only great things to say about our vacation with Sandals at Emerald Bay, thank you to all the staff.

We were originally supposed to be staying and getting Married at The Royal Bahamian in Nassau, so you can imagine my horror when 4 days before we departed we were told that the resort was shut and we were now going to Emerald Bay. However after a overnight stay in on Paradise Island in the Rui Palace (this is no way a 5 star hotel), we flew out to Great Exuma. When we arrived at Emerald bay (no cold towel or champange on arrival as we were told we would get) our room was like a small apartment. All our wedding details had been sorted and a massive thank you to Beverley, Anne and the wedding team for making our wedding so special!!! also thankyou Reenae for doing my nails and my birthday pressie and Tamara for my hair and make-up,the staff at this resort and some of these we brought in from the Royal Bahamian couldn't have been more helpful. I would have given this resort excellant but the only thing missing is a couple of more restaraunts.
