“Couldn't be happier”
Reviewed July 21, 2010

I don’t usually give 5 stars, but in this case I will. Actually, I’d probably do a 4.5, but I can only do whole numbers, so a 5 it is! We only rented kayaks with Rolle’s two times, but both experiences were excellent. The kayaks were in perfect shape. They were our preferred sit-on-top style, and came with full seats with backrests. They also had covered storage. On our first trip, Gully dropped us off on some remote flats. This was some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever encountered. Based on what we had told Gully we wanted to do, he knew exactly where to take us, and it worked out perfectly.

We arranged a pick up time, and when he picked us up he arrived with two cold drinks and a plate full of homemade BBQ (he had to leave a family picnic to come get us, as we found out later). We couldn’t have been happier or more surprised with this touch. Can’t say he’ll do that for all customers, but it’s something we’ll remember the rest of our lives.

On our second trip we left directly from the resort and crossed over to Stocking Island. Gully didn’t realize we were going to leave right from the beach, so he had already loaded up the kayaks into his truck. When we told him our plans, he just smiled and said it was no problem, and then proceeded to unload the kayaks for us. He then told us to look up his friend Alvin at Hamburger Beach. The kayaks worked fine, even in the rough waves and chop. When we came back, they were right there waiting for us.

I know Gully also offers guided tours (mangroves, etc). I hear these are very good, but we didn’t have a chance to check them out. Gully, his wife Shan, and the rest of the family are some of the most friendly and helpful people you could ever hope to meet, and no matter what your kayaking plans, I am confident you will be satisfied.

“Rolle's Sea Kayaking”
Reviewed April 17, 2010

While on Great Exuma we used Rolle's Sea Kayaking to go kayaking at a place called "The Ferry". There were 7 of us - 4 adults, 1 senior and 2 teenagers. Gully took my mom (75 years old) with him in his kayak and the rest of us paired up. We headed out through some mangroves and saw some fish and some baby sharks. After a while we stopped at a sand bar where Gully layed out a snack for us (fruit, cheese and crackers, water, trail mix etc) while we searched for sea shells. It was a really cool place as it was the junction of a couple of arms of the mangroves that meet up with the open ocean. As the tide was going out, this made for an ideal place to body surf. We just layed back in the water and the current was strong enough that it carried you down one arm to where it met another and then swept you out towards the ocean. It was super fun! We had so much fun here that we hung out longer than we were supposed to and body surfed the morning away. On our way back we encountered a rather large sea turtle. Very cool. Gully was a great guide - we would highly recommend using him! Funny thing - that night we went out for dinner to the Restaurant at February Point. The meal was fabulous, but the waitress turned out to be Shan - Gully's wife (whom we had spoken to about booking this trip)What a great couple!
