“Frightening cave”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2012

It was our own fault because we had no flashlight and the cave is very dark and long. We were greeted by graffiti and garbage. Perhaps people were living in the cave. There were mounds of clothes and sheets of cardboard stretched out on the ground. Nothing is treated like an attraction here on Eleuthera, which is charming, but then allows for garbage and lack of care. I love the pristine, non touristy nature of this island so I will put up with a bit of garbage. The entrance was overgrown and hornet nest was there. If you are older and have arthritis you should not walk in this cave.

“Down into the Darkness!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2012

WE hired a car and drove to the caves about 5 miles out of Alice Town on the left. We followed the track down for about half a mile and missed the sign on the Right to the caves. There is a brick wall surround and you can park right next to the entrance.

Non slip shoes and a torch will make this experience even better as you make your way carefully on he uneven ground exploring the caverns. Graffiti has put a new complexion on the stalagmites and stalactites so you have to look beyond this mindless abuse and try to enjoy these amazing structures. (Amazing how cave men in their primitiveness managed to draw engaging pictures of animals and depict their lives in caves paintings, ego now only allows people to leave their name!)

As you venture down it becomes increasingly tricky and a guide who knows the caves well will offer a better experience.

We drove to the end of the track and found a small narrow footpath in the bushes which we followed to the cliff tops for an awesome, unforgettable view.

“A little easy to overlook”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2012

You will sometimes find the bats in the first two cave chambers. The cave is on the right side of the road on a large open area. It can be easy to overlook.

“Wish we were more prepared”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2012

This place was a world-class cave, and totally fun because it's just wild in a field. I wish we had brought more flashlights, proper footwear, and didn't have toddlers with us. Next time we will go the whole 3 miles! Fantastic!
