“Fabulous location with some (but not all) good dishes”
Reviewed December 24, 2011

There are half-a-dozen restaurants in and around Governor's Harbor that have fantastic locations and this place is unarguably one of them. We will very happily go back there on our next visit. Some dishes are top quality. On our most recent visit, we especially liked the spicy shrimp and (separately) the hot chorizo. Both were well spiced but not too-hot-to-eat. But several dishes were so badly cooked as to be inedible. So I recommend that you read other recent reviews and make a list of the "good stuff" before you go. Please do not let this review put you off going. There are few things better than an hour or two on the Beach House deck.

“never again; calamaris where not fresh ...”
Reviewed December 12, 2011

great view, great ambiance, good service; but the food was not good ... the pastry of the calamari was nice and crispy (but fat) and under that splendour was the old dry calamari without any taste. The dip was the one you can buy all over the world in any chinese shop...brrrr. (go to the farmhouse, where they do excellent fresh salsa...so easy to make when you like cooking!!!)
Do not even try the Shrimps with cheese and proscuitto ...dry, old, overcooked and SALTY... They charged us for it, saying it was the way they should be.
Yes, we are gourmets and demanding; But gourmets can also enjoy a great Conch salat freshly prepared on the street by Steve in front of you ( on the jonction in Windermere). Try his BBQ chicken, also great as takeaway for you picknick at the lighthouse Bay....

“Lovely place, lovely tapas, great batter”
Reviewed November 8, 2011

A gem on Eleuthera. A small patio for outdoor seating by a lovely beach, a small indoor seating area. Simple, but tasteful design. Good service. The gem is their tapa plates. We had the calamari, grouper fingers, the lobster & conch fritters, and battered onion rings. The first thing you should know is that each tapa plate contained more food than we are used to in other restaurants, so it is easy to order too much food...but, if you do, you will have some great take-home leftovers! Because the food is very good. We like deep-fried battered food to be lightly, softly battered, not hard or crisp. This was perfect for our taste, something that does not happen often. Prices are high in Eleuthera; our lunch for two, with two glasses of a nice Chardonnay and two local beers, cost $87 (tip automatically included). Worth every penny.

“I really like this place”
Reviewed October 27, 2011

I've been to Eleuthera several times and only just tried this place for this first time on my last trip. It's one of my new favourites. We went for a late lunch and sat on the patio with a stunning view of French Leave beach and some mellow island music playing in the background. It's such a laid back, relaxed and friendly atmosphere there. There's also a cute little boutique selling clothing and souvenirs. They started us off with complimentary warm baked bread with balsamic / olive oil (very fresh and good), then the smoked salmon bruschetta (delicious and plentiful), the garlic and parsley stuffed shrimp (also very tasty - shrimps were massive), the chicken empanadas (I wouldn't order these again - they were large, but the filling tasted like they used canned chicken - we still ate all of it though). The margaritas are huge and done right (Patron and Grand Marnier) - they are expensive, but they are also big enough that it's as if you are getting 2 drinks in 1. The service was friendly and gracious. We enjoyed it very much. I wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

“a must visit”
Reviewed July 12, 2011

We loved the Beach House. Cool place, the food was excellent- we had the spicy chickpeas (a HUGE portion), the smoked salmon bruchetta and the conch fritters. Loved the chickpeas and the salmon- the conch fritters were good but not the best we had. What sold us was the atmosphere. The view out from the bar is just spectacular. We went down to have lunch on the first visit and stayed for hours!

Prices- especially drinks- were a bit high, but we found that to be the case everywhere on the island. We stuck to Kalik- kept COLD in a cooler at the bar.

Also, the portions are huge so ask or plan for that. The bartender packed up to go boxes for us, no problem. Chickpeas are even better the next day.

The owner and bartenders/wait staff were all very friendly and chatty with us. No one blinked when my sand covered kid came dripping in. Just very laid back. I would advise anyone going to plan on staying an afternoon to enjoy the view and the perfect beach out front. The only problem I had with the Beach House was it was too far away from where we were staying. I echo the comment of an earlier poster- next time we are staying closer to the Beach House. Preferably make it there a 'pied and stay even longer
