“Great Hike”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

Great hike to the top to visit the Hermitage. We went up by way of the stations of the cross, incredible to think of the work that went into constructing the stairway. We returned the long way (easier hike down) Great views await once you get to the top. Definitely worth the trip!

“Very Interesting”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

It's just a short hike up the hill to the Hermitage. Hiking shoes/tennis shoes are not necessary, you can make this hike in your flip flops. It is amazing that Father Jerome built this by hand. The entire Hermitage is open so feel free to wander into the building and its rooms - don't forget to sign the guestbook :)

“Well worth the trip”
Reviewed June 17, 2014

The Hermitage sits atop Mount Alvernia in New Bight, Cat Island. Mount Alvernia is the highest point in The Bahamas at a dizzying 206 feet above sea level! The hike was definitely worth the trip.
