Highest point in the Bahamas- very cool hike, amazing views, don't forget to sign the guestbook. The Hermitage itself is quite tiny

This structure is well worth the trip. It is unattended and you can freely explore the grounds. It is a bit of a hike up some rock stairs but my 2 year old made it with little help. There are some great views from several locations.

It is not very easy to find some places in Cat Island, so here is the short cut: turn at the police station in New Bight. It is very narrow road, but once go up it is worth. It is about 2km from the police station. Remember to have hiking shoes in your car/bike.

It was a steep walk up the hill to the place but well worth the effort for the extraordinary view of the building and the sweeping view of Cat Island.

My husband and I took a day to visit the hermitage. There was a small hike up to the top. Take the stairs if you can to see the stations of the cross, and if not, there is a back trail with a mild slope that you can take. The views were stunning from the top. The hermitage is almost like a miniature church and monetary, and is incredible that it was all hand built! Read up on the history first, take a trip, and enjoy the views!
