Owner description: This beach is as pretty as a postcard, with smooth white sands and clear blue waters.

It was about a 30 to 40 minute drive from downtown Freeport. Nothing for miles in either direction, which makes it somewhat private. There were a few groups of people around, but a short walk on the gorgeous beach would give you privacy. It would be wise to go during low tide, which would give you a little more beach area. No amenities or food, take some cold drinks.

Nothing for miles in either direction. Wide, sandy beach good for walking , swimming, shelling, sunning. A bit far from the hotels so rent a car. The tour we were on gave us about 40 minutes - not enough time. No food or amenities.

What a gorgeous beach! We went a couple of hours before low tide so we would have lots of time. The beach is wide and goes as far as the eye can see. The water is the beautiful aquamarine. There are large driftwood dotted along the shoreline. There is hardly anyone on the beach. Occasionally, a tour stops but they stay for maybe 20 minutes. This beach is the one you imagine when you think of a tropical paradise. Helpful hint - I printed out the low tides for the week before we left, so we would know the best time to arrive.

Went to Grand Bahama Island in January, and visited Gold Rock Beach. It was beautiful. We planned our trip at low tide. If it was not low tide, not sure it would be worth it. We had the whole beach to ourselves. Great place for young ones to play, very safe. My husband does not like sun so he sat on a beach blanket in the shade by the trees. This place is one reason to rent a car when visiting this island. It is VERY easy to drive on the left...the is hardly any traffic on this island, and it has very low speed limits (30 mph on highway for trucks, 45 for cars). We were able to spend hours at Gold Rock Beach, and then drove to the end of the island to Pelican Bay, McLean Town (conch cracking capital of the world!lol). Every beach we stopped at was deserted, and were even able to collect conch shells on the beach. We brought a small collapsable cooler in our luggage, and it helped on these day trips when we needed to pack a lunch...no place to purchase anything at Gold Rock. Another suggestion...pack a flat sheet from home
so when you visit these deserted beaches you have a place to sit.

Sandbars and warm water makes this beach great. It is across the street from the Lucayan National Park. To get to the beach there is about a 10 minute walk through a mangrove with all wild life, fish, birds, and even a vulture.
