“Spectacular”

Rented a car for our week here in the Bahamas. Not only did I choose this beautiful backdrop for my wedding but we visited three times to just lay around and enjoy the tranquility and peacefulness. Came at sunrise one morning and snorkeled out to Gold Rock. Fantastic reef system on the far side of the rock. Drops off to 30 feet and fish galore. Ran into a BIG Barracuda all three times out here - scary looking fellow but he just swam off slowly. His name is now Henry. Remember to feed the fish along the boardwalk on the way to the beach and watch out for little racoons that enjoy stealing sunglasses :P

“The best beach ever!”
Reviewed January 21, 2013

Across the street from Ben's Cave. If you drove to Ben's Cave just stay parked there and walk across the street. You enter through a boardwalk that winds through a wooded area. The baordwalk is slightly raised just above the water of a lagoon like area. Almost looks like a jungle. Then you exit out onto the beach area. My wife and I went to the right and had miles of beach area ALL TO OURSELVES! I noticed off to the left about 300-400 yards away there were about a half dozen people which must have taken the boardwalk to the left, but at the area we were at absolutely NOONE. We swam and played in the water for a couple hours then walked further to the right along the beach. After about a mile or so we passed another couple. Those were the only other people we saw. The water here is clear-blue. Just gorgeous. No fee.

There is not much to do in Freeport, but the beaches are the best. This is one of the best beaches I have seen National park beach is little better.

“Yep!”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

5 plus stars. We ended up going when the tide was relatively high and it was still amazing. Expect to pay around $20-25 per person (round trip) via taxi from Port Lucaya and the resorts from around there so for bigger parties you might want to consider renting a car if you don't mind driving on the wrong side of the road ;) There is a bathroom at the Lucayan Nat. Park entrance which is just across the street and there was a women selling cold drinks and snacks from her car at the trail-head leading down to the beach -- her banana bread was really tasty!
