“Best Unknown Pub in Freeport”
Reviewed June 19, 2011

If you get a chance to visit Freeport, it would not be complete without stopping at the Coral Reef Beach Bar and Grill. The Proprietors, Jim and Joan Neill, are very warm and engaging souls. From the moment you you arrive at this beach front, open air Pub, you feel like you are among friends, because, YOU ARE!

This Pub offers a nice variety of Fish, Poultry and meat menu items. The fare ranges from Indian to American, Columbian to Canadian. All at very modest prices.

The best kept secret is an appetizers unique to this Pub....Fried Green Tomatoes, with a creamy garlic Shrimp or Lobster sauce. Chefs Stanley and Shanicka produce some of the best meals to be found anywhere on the Island
.
Wine, beer and spirits abound and a very large selection.

Typical patrons are Canadian, British, Bahamian and American. Quite a diverse crowd, which makes for a great social event each time you visit.

Hostesses, Collen, Lauren, Yvonne and Anna, contribute a great deal to the warm and friendly atmosphere. These hostess add as much to the Friendly air as the meals and spirits.

And now they've added the "Smokin Reefer", a Tex-La-Hamian smoking barbeque pit. From this comes the best barbequed ribs or chicken you'll ever have on the Island, and maybe even better than what you can get at home! You better be quick about ordering the ribs or chicken. It is a weekend special, and usually sold out by Sunday afternoon, being available from Friday evening on, until the items are consumed.

It's the best place to relax and socialize, open to the Ocean, always a nice breeze blowing, and those amazing Moon rises over the water is unparalleled. WOW!

This lovely spot, located just off the beaten track to Port Lucaya, has live entertainment every other Saturday, and is quite the event. Most recently combining the normal nightly entertainment with a post Wedding Reception, reception! What an amzing mix of people.

Speaking of Weddings, this Pub has been honored to host several weddings, on the Beach. It's Web site connected Video Cam has allowed extended families to view the ceremony for those who could not make the trip!

When I have guests and colleagues visiting the Island for the first time, I ALWAYS bring them there, FIRST. Before long, they find their way back, after visiting the other places on the Island. I guess it is the scenic beauty and the warm staff, and the tempting food, as well!

Do yourself a big favor, or give yourself an unexpected treat, and stop by the Coral Reef Beach Bar and Grill at the Coral Beach Hotel. You will be extremely glad you did.

We were lucky enough to spend a few evenings in the Bar and even luckier to have live music which was fantastic. The atmosphere was wonderful everyone having a brilliant time, its right on the beach so a great view of the sea. We danced all night and really enjoyed ourselves, the staff were terrific, cocktails were delicious and it all made for a perfect night out. Can't wait to come back and put on our dancing shoes once more!
