“Old Bahama Islands Flora”
Reviewed April 5, 2014

Glad we visited this sanctuary. We guided ourselves through the park where they have identified the local trees. Spent a good amount of time at the pond viewing birds. They've sent the flamingos away due to the expense of feeding them, but we found the turtles and birds fascinating. Seeing a very natural woods without lots of imported trees made it feel very real. They keep a one-eyed parrot, a peacock and a red tailed hawk and a boa constrictor and some other snake in large pens for viewing. We also enjoyed seeing orchids blooming near the visitor center.

“Wonderful place to learn and see.”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Don't miss this nature center. The guide was excellent, spending time with us and answering all our questions. We had a great hike through the park, especially enjoying the turtles and fish in the pond. Great place.

“Definitely take a tour!”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

Very nice to see the natural unkempt beauty of this island. Not as much walking as I had hoped. The pond was very interesting with an abundance of turtles and fish.

“Take the tour.”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

At 10:30 each morning, a guided tour is given. We were the only two on this trip, and our guide, Cecilia, was fabulous. We learned so much about the local use of the various plants. Best to call ahead to see if the tour is on. We loved it. But without the tour, it would have just been a walk in the woods. Oh, and if you are coming from Lucaya, take Jonathan's taxi from the back of the straw market and he will give you a great deal of info alonf the same lines.
