“It was ok”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2005

We stayed at the Royal Islander and took the free bus to Xanadu Beach. Upon arriving we were greated by two ladies trying to sell use stuff for more then the International Bazaar. We said we didn't want anything but they kept bugging us the whole time we were there. Other then those ladies the beach was tons of fun and beautiful. We played Valleyball, layed on the beach for some sun, sat in the shade, and swam in the ocean. The view from the beach was beautiful, I've never seen water so blue or sky so blue. The nicest thing about this beach was there a little hut things on the beach you could sit under to get some shade and that the beach didn't have a lot of people.

“Spring Break Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2004

Made reservations through a travel agent for 5 nights at the xanadu for spring break. We arrived around 8:30 and it took a good 30 minutes to get our rooms, but we got bumped up to suites on the 7th and 9th floors. The entire staff was awesome. The security guards were very informative ;-). They have a bar open nightly on their beach called the Sandbar and the bartender/owner matt couldn't have been more hospitable. He also runs the watersports for the hotel. I suggest you get friendly with him. 4 dollar taxi ride to the bazaar and port lucaya. Worth the money. I definately recommend this hotel. The views were great, the staff was generally helpful. Awesome place for a bunch of friends to spend a week!

“Horrible!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2003

Traveled in March 2003. VERY disappointed with the hotel. Upon our arrival, we were forced to wait over 2 1/2 hours for our room! They did not apologize or even give us a reason for the extreme delay. We were forced to sit in the lobby (construction mess & all) with roughly a dozen other parties that were unable to get into their rooms. They had a very laid back attitude about the entire situation. When we did get into our room, we were fortunate enought to have air conditioning and working locks on our doors. I cannot say the same for others who were forced to wait for a room. I do believe the hotel will be absolutely stunning, once construction is completed. However, if their customer service does not improve, I would not recommend staying here. On the otherhand, the beach was absolutely fabulous. Beautiful water, Ocean-front grill/bar and best of all, the beach is only open to Xanadu customers. Be wary of the independant merchants- their "merchandise" isn't always on the up & up. The cab ride to Port Lucaya is not that difficult. Cabs are readily available & it gives you an opportunity to meet other vacationers & trade tips. I definitely recommend Snorkeling.
It was a once-in-a lifetime experience. We used the main company that you will see advertisements for everywhere... they are based at Port Lucaya. Do try the conch. It is delicous. Have a wonderful trip & make sure to post your comments when you get back.

“It was horrible.. ”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2003

It was horrible... We weren't informed that the hotel was under renovations. It took a thirty dollar taxi cab to go to the international bazzar. The air conditioner was broken in our room. We left and stayed at The Island Seas (not island palms) resort. It was awesome. Our Lucaya was also very nice and had all the amenities that are expected on a EXPECTED on a vacation.

“Xanadu has a beach!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2003

When we went, we had a great time. It wasn't too crowded and the room was okay. They were in the process of renovating. We bought into the timeshare feature. Kinda wished we hadn't only because the timing was off with finances. WeI enjoyed staying at Xanadu and was privileged because not all of the resorts on the Island have their own beach!
