What a beautiful, charming spot to get a fresh bite of fish and cold local beer. I had the fish sandwich, it was an awesome piece of mahi mahi, and the fish fingers (often grouper slices in fried breading) were very satisfying. Included in our Calabash Tour was a lunch from Banana Bay. The beer was extra but locally priced. Enjoy Bahamian Sands Beer, perfect as a refreshing beach beer. The pictures on the web don't even do it justice, it is like the scene out of a commercial promoting the Bahamas. Absolutely silent, I think I heard a very distant boat engine once while we were there. Saw a turtle and skate, and even some jacks jumping out of the water.

More than anything the atmosphere is what makes Banana Bay. It is a "beach bum" hang out with great views of the water and apparently a nude beach (no one was nude while we were there). There is a classic tiki bar and cute decor. Gulls is the women's bathroom, Buoys for the fellows.

The food is fresh and well seasoned. Nothing to write home about, but definitely perfect for a lunch and an enjoyable time by the beach. The iced teas are awesome. Order a large and they bring you a gigantic glass, well carafe, of tea, that just makes the sea smell sweeter.

Wonderful spot to spend an afternoon on the beach, and stop for lunch. Order their Banana specialty drink, the conch fritters, with grilled mahi.
Get there before noon, so you can take amazing photos without any other tourists in the background of your amazing crystal waters pictures.
We rented a convertible jeep and drove around the island to this great find. Best day in Freeport!
