We loved the Reef. It is quiet, clean and very friendly. We ate breakfast everyday in the room. Everything you need is in the room. We ordered food from Foodstore2go and it arrived just after we did. The hotel staff was very friendly and accomodating. We always found a spot at the pool or the beach no matter what time we arrived. The beach was very clean and the chairs at the REEF/Cove beach were so comfortable. It so nice to go visit the action and then come back to the quiet side of the resort. I would not recommend a harborside room, mainly because it also over looks a huge parking lot too. I am also not interested in watching the cruise ships come and go. The ocean view is outstanding!

The downside to Atlantis is the cruise ship traffic. Most days, the cruise ship passengers did not seem to make it all the way down to REEF side of the water park/pools. On our last day, that was a little different. The usual beach spot we took by the waterpark on the Reef/Cove side was very busy with cruise ship passengers who were smoking cigars and swearing. But, we just picked up our stuff and moved to the private REEF beach and told the kids we were done with the waterpark for the day.

Kids absolutely loved the water park. We rented a private cabana one day by the current river rapids. It was a great private location, very close to the power tower water slides. We could easily take a tube from the cabana, hop on the rapids and take the river directly to some of the power tower slides.

Trip of a lifetime!

We thoroughly enjoyed this vacation. The accommodation went above and beyond our expectations. Our room was luxurious and the bathroom had a deep tub, separate shower area, and a tv. Our room had a lovely view of the ocean. And the Reef has a private pool (shared with the Cove) guests. I would recommend staying here or at the Cove for this very reason. The water park pools can be quite crowded and it was nice to be able to have a private pool....which also faces the ocean which offered a gorgeous view. Atlantis as a whole was a tropical paradise...immaculate grounds, lovely and clean....be prepared to walk to get from one area to another...we were a 10 minute walk from most of the restarurants...but we enjoyed the walk as it was along beautiful paths with peaceful piped in spa music. The only negative was the cost of food. We saved by having breakfast and snack food delivered to our room by a nearby grocery store. I would be leery of purchasing the food plans. We didnt and I am glad we didnt. I think you can eat for less by doing wjat we did. We developed a nice rhythm to our days by getting up and having breakfast, going to the water park or an excursion, eating a light lunch at one of the food vendors in the waterpark, going to the pool, and then going back to the room to shower and dress for dinner. I would highly recommend this resort and would love to go back!

This was our third trip to Atlantis and second stay at the Reef. We enjoyed being able to come back and enjoy a less-crowded pool and beach. The pool is right outside your hotel door and the beach is right next to the pool, perfect!
Our room was clean and ready when we arrived. We used Sandra's taxi and stopped for groceries on the way. She is the best!
There was plenty of room in our fridge. Check in was quick and everyone was friendly.
We did not have any issues with the room or the maid service. They ran our dishwasher and restocked our coffee every day. We always had plenty of towels and they were replenished every day too (whatever we left on the floor). They had to be reminded twice to bring us the air-bed...if you are in the studio and not a suite, call for it in advance. Its a very nice one, twin-size, from Frontgate. You also need to ask for nightly turn-down in advance.
Several Reef amenities were helpful - we used the fridge and the dishwasher multiple times. We also used the free laundry room to wash our swimsuits before we packed to head home. The laundry room is big - there are plenty of machines and they're clean and well-maintained.

Pool FYIs:
There are lots of seats at the pool area but the good locations are saved in the morning - usualy before 9am. If you are a parent of little ones and want to be by the zero-entry or you want to be in the sunny side in the morning before the sun comes completely over the Cove, you need to save a spot when you get up for breakfast. Towels and wristbands are easy to get and there are lots of attendants to help with seating and set up, both at the pool and beach. The lifeguards were friendly and there were lots of children for my kids to play with. However, there was a women sunbathing nude poolside one of the afternoons.
The food at the poolside burger shack is good and they have salads and a good variety besides burgers and hotdogs. They take the last order at 5:30pm. Pricing varies - grilled cheese for $6 but $15 for a salad. $7 beer and $9-12 mixed/frozen drinks.

Bring sunscreen from home. Buy a bunch of $9 bottles at Target. Here, they are $18 by the pool and 100 feet away inside at the Cove sundry shop, they are $27!

Starbucks and Mosaic buffet are right next door at the Cove, an easy, pleasant walk. The line for Starbucks is usually very long though, but they have good service and a variety of snacks and sandwiches. Mosaic is great for breakfast but go before 9 or you will also wait in a long line.
**If you eat there for breakfast, grab an apple or banana when you leave the buffet. They're $4 at Starbucks.

Overall, we enjoyed our second stay here. The hotel didn't feel crowded and the other guests seemed very nice. The kitchen is a plus, as is the private pool and beach. We thought that the water park and middle of the Atlantis resort was crazy crowded but over by the Beach tower, it was calm and very pleasant with the kids as well. The Reef beach/Paradise beach is by far the best on property - clean, wide, calm and uncrowded - plus no vendors or jetskis.

Bring your essentials from home, is our best advice. The sticker shock for sunscreen was worse than all the hype you hear about the bottled water - it was about $3-4 a bottle on resort and $1.99 in the grocery store.

Just came back fr a 5 night stay. Went to a medical meeting so got a reduced rate which by the time u add all the fees, electricity charges, gratuities etc. cost is about 560/night. Oh well! I expected the best but I found it mediocre. When we arrived no bath towels in our room. The bathroom floor had others hair on it. The soap dish was plastic and chipped. The safe did not work. (It needed a new battery). Had to call to request replenishment of tea etc in room. One day we did not have maid service I guess because we left the room too late, but we were still charged gratuity fee. The shelves in the fridge were all lopsided and out of sorts. My husband fixed it. I just don't expect these things at 500+ per night

room service mediocre. Don't get guava duff from there. I know guava duff. My family is Bahamian. I was embarrassed at what the hotel served. And the food was not hot. I guess the figured you could reheat it in your microwave

So that's the annoying. The good is the natural of the Bahamas. We were in a 22nd floor ocean view. Beautiful. People were always accommodating. They really try with customer service and satisfaction. The hotel lobby and corridors are lovely and it is quiet. Away fr the noise of the royal and coral towers

As this is my third trip to atlantis and I decided to "splurge" I guess I expected the fine details that accompany posh to be fulfilled. I was disappointed. Just stay at the beach tower and enjoy nature

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor. They seem to be very accommodating if they have it

We were at Atlantis for my daughters wedding that we had on Cove beach. The wedding planner Talia did a great job! The wedding was just lovely, we had 26 guests, everyone stayed at Atlantis at either the Reef or the Cove. Both hotels are on a quieter, more secluded area of the resort. Staying at the Reef gives you access to all that Atlantis has to offer while enjoying some seclusion in the middle of the mega resort. We chose the Reef also because it does have a mini kitchen which is nice for snacks and beverages. We ordered " food to go" to deliver some light snacks, water , beer, wine etc. which helps a little with convenience and save a little $. The staff were truly friendly and seemed genuinely glad to help. We would definitely come back. They will have some competition with the new BahaMar that is due to open in December.

we have vacationed at the Reef several times- while you have all the use of Atlantis- you are a world away here at the Reef- much more exclusive and quiet compared to the craziness near the waterpark, etc. It is very expensive here so you need to work it...go to the grocery for water/snacks etc.--I always remember the bag of chips for $11 in the lobby store- this great place is a destination my family continues to want to go back to--

Room Tip: view the ocean rather than the harbor

We stayed here for a six night trip in March of 2014. For a family vacation site, this was top notch. I would call it the DIsney of the bahamas! Clean, spacious, and the service was beyond any anticipated level. Each and every person we met appeared genuinely happy that we were there. The grounds are on par with a great water park and the beach area is excellent as well. The water temps this time of year are a bit cooler but still nice at approx 76 F or so. I will say that the cost was a bit exorbitant for food and even bottled water. Family oriented for the most part but still suitable for couples.

Room Tip: View from upper floors is great!
