“What a great vacation”
Reviewed December 1, 2007

Just got back from a 5 day stay at the Royal Towers with my family, two boys 8 and 10. In a nutshell, we had a fabulous time! Disregard all the negative reviews. The staff there was helpful and gratious. Everyone we met was friendly and went out of their way to help. We stayed in the Imperial Club so our room was on one of the upper levels. The room was clean and roomy, we even had a balcony with an amazing view. Pay for ocean view it is well worth it.

If you are looking for a quiet romantic getaway, Atlantis may not be the place for you. Although the new Cove seems more on the quiet side. However, if you are looking for a fun getaway with lots to do, especially with your family, this is the destination. My boys loved all the water rides and the aquatic life. We enjoyed watching the staff feed the various marine life every morning. They were eager to answer any of our questions. My younger son befriended one of the divers responsible for cleaning the shark tank and he dove for shark teeth to give my son. I think what made the vacation so special and memorable for us was the warmth and hospitality of the Bahamian people.

As for food, we ate at Fathoms, which was my favorite meal of the trip. My son forgot his DS game on the table and one of the waiters ran down after us almost to our room to return it to us. Bahamian Club was good. We also ate at Bimini Road, pretty good. We had appetizers at Chop Stix and they were all delicious. Food is expensive, there is no denying it. We've travelled to the Cayman Islands and I would say Atlantis is a little more expensive, but not much. I did not think drinks were that expensive or the bottles of water. Because we were in the Imperial Club, we never paid for breakfast and would take advantage of the happy hour and desserts in the evening. It was worth the extra money we paid.

Overall, it was a fantastic vacation. We would all highly recommend it.

Went to the Atlantis with three other Moms and a friend. Had the time of our lives! Great drinks, great food and great sun! We loved the lazy river during the day and closed the night club every night. We took the advice I read from others and we each brought a bag full of bottled water and saved a few hundred dollars at the hotel. We then used our bags for our purchases. There is a market right outside of the hotel with local craftsman. Much cheaper than on grounds. It's just past the Marina. Food and drink were expensive, but we brought snacks and shared meals. We all would definetly return!

This is a resort you have to try at least once in your lifetime.
Yes it is expensive but you get a huge waterslide park and marine exhibits with your stay. If these things are not important to you or you plan on doing a lot of excursions off the resort then another hotel might be a better choice.
Stayed in a harbour view room in the Royal Tower during our stay. Room was very clean and comfortable. Water view is a little better but we were not terribly dissapointed as the view was nice. We liked the location because it was in the middle of the resort. Service everywhere was excellent, fast and friendly.
Pools and beaches were awesome and had no problems getting a towel or a chair. Extra charges are annoying for things like water toys ($30/half hour). I wouldn't bother snorkelling as I didn't see many fish in the lagoon. Just walk below ground through The Dig or Predator tunnel if you want to see fish.
Our 11 year old went to Club Rush($15) one afternoon where he played video games with a couple of kids his age. He liked it.
We had dinner at Fathoms one night and it was great. It was $170 for two adults and one child. Our table was in front of a 10 foot high aqaurium wall with a giant manta ray swimming by every 5 minutes (awesome). Murray's Deli was good for breakfast and lunch. The red snapper at Bimini Road was also very good. Johnny Rockets was blah.
Left the resort one night for Twin Brothers at the Fish Fry for some lobster($25) and their famous daquiris. Was not disappointed. Thursday night the locals set up street music and dancing there. Loud and high energy.
We loved our stay and felt very safe everywhere we went. It is hard to compare this place to other hotels because there is nothing else quite like it.

The reviews on this site scared me and I was so nervous about what to expect at this place. THANK GOD I didn't listen to the reviews here. I knew this place was amazing and I also knew it was expensive. So I wasn't shocked at anything. We were on the 19th floor of the Royal Towers with a full balcony that overlooked the ocean. Every single person who worked at that hotel was fantastic and nice and accommodating. If YOU are nice, you WILL encounter nice people. Every night there would be a maid in the halls and she'd always ask us if we needed towels or anything else. The day we arrived, a worker was in the halls and asked if he could check the fridge before we settled in. We asked him to lock it so that our kids wouldn't go in it and he did with a smile on his face. All the lifeguards were pleasant, the hotel front desk people were wonderful and helpful. I can't say enough about the people there. We got a quick taxi over to the Ardastra Zoo and she was awesome. She gave us a tour on the way and explained all about the Island. It was awesome.

The Aquaventure is amazing. Our boys are 9 & 6 and we all simply had a blast together. They tired out easily so when we wanted to take a quick break for a marguerita or daiquiri, they were more than willing to sit with us and relax. We couldn't go in the ocean water because the surf was too rough but the beach was beautiful. No vendors at all. We all loved the rapids lazy river.

The grounds are gorgeous and breathtaking. The Dig was amazing. We loved the MarketPlace buffet - about $140 for the four of us for dinner without alcohol and about $80 for breakfast for all of us.

On average we spent about $150 for dinner and $80 for all breakfasts and roughly $40 for lunch at poolside. We didn't care about the price. It was 5 nights of wonderful time together and price was no issue.

Our travel agent messed up and booked us offsite for a dolphin swim. We really wanted to do the hotel one but we couldn't switch it. But it turned out to be fun. We took a boat to an island where we interacted with a dolphin and then they surprised us and took us to interact with the Sea Lions for no extra cost. FUN FUN FUN!!

Definitely a vacation I would recommend to everyone. Oh, one warning - for some reason, all the GORGEOUS people come out at night. Yowza - some of these people just didn't seem real. We got some good laughs checking out people who were looking around to see if anyone was checking them out. They definitely needed to get over themselves but it sure gave us something to chuckle about.

Four Seasons prices with Holiday Inn service . . . .

We just returned from a 5 night stay in the Royal towers in Atlantis. We booked a Regal suite with an adjoining room for my mother and stepfather to stay in. The suite alone cost $900 a night and while the room was large and had everything we needed in it, the decor was a bit outdated for the price. The housekeeping service was TERRIBLE . For example, we had plates and glasses from our room outside our room for the entire 5 day stay. (We put them outside the room since they didn't take dirty plates with them when they came to clean.) Whenever we needed to call the front desk or what they call the "Prompt Response Team" we waited on hold for at least 15 minutes. Our lock on our door had a problem and we waited for 2 hours for someone to come up to fix it. We couldn't leave the room the whole time because we wouldn't be able to get back in. When calling for room service it took over an hour and we got a $20 hamburger that was burnt to the crisp. We asked for our mini bar to be restocked every day and it never was. I brought all of these issues to the attention of the management and told that we wanted to go home a night early but weren't able to get on the earlier flight, I was hoping that they would at least comp us the last night after dropping about $1300 a day on the rooms and at least $600 a day on meals. They gave us a $200 a day credit which I explained probably covered the money that we spent on bottled water while we were there.

In addition, the grounds were so packed with guests that you got the feeling that you were vacationing on the streets of New York City instead of a Carribean Island. It truly is an amazing place for kids but as a parent I dont think I can ever deal with the cost for bad service again. You are better off taking a trip to Disney and one to the Four Seasons. It will probably cost you the same for both trips in the end.

  • Liked — There is a lot to do at the resort.
  • Disliked — Extremely overpriced for subpar service.

Got stuck in Nassau post tropical storm Noel as our plane from the out island of San Salvador was delayed and we missed our connector to Toronto. Have always heard of Atlantis and how great it is. We went to the Atlantis counter at the airport and got a good deal (not really) on a Royal Tower room for one night. The hotel itself was amazing. Our view was spectacular, the aquariums are out of this world, the water themed rides where very memorable however I felt like I was at Disney or another American resort. I know the main market for this hotel is Americans spending the credit out of the country but it was just a little too over the top for more than one night. Having just come back from a week on San Salvador at a luxurious CLub Med maybe I was let down by the sheer number of people and just how touristy Atlantis actually is.

I am glad I spent one night there but not sure if I would ever go back unless it is with someone who is not comfortable travelling outside of thier normal lives and comfort level. Definately not the place for adventure or to learn about new cultures.

Told it was a 5-Star Hotel...Not True! Grounds and family oriented amenities are 5-Star and the hotel and casino appearance is beautiful...BUT...the attitude of about 50 per-cent of the employees left everything to be desired. Rooms definitely need freshening up (like painting and mold removal from showers). Prices are very high for families with young children and there seemed to be a total unwillingness on the part of the front desk staff to make any accomodations. I can be more specific but I don't think there is enough room in this to do that. For all it's beauty, it was sorely lacking in niceness from its employees. When attitude gets in the way of accomodating, facilities loose stars. Rating, after much discussion with our friends who shared our vacation with us, puts The Atlantis from 5-star to 3-star.
