CONS: We went to a wedding which my sister won through a contest. We ended up at Atlantis resort (all 25 of us). Checking in was horrible. We spent about 2 hours checking in because they had not heard of us and tried to charge us a different price. We were all late for our dinners.

Furthermore, no one had been upfront with us about the "all inclusive rules" and there are MANY. ie. you are ONLY allowed one beverage, one appetizer, and two entrees PER ROOM. also, you have to specify each and every bar and restaurant you are all inclusive and you only get the lower brand alcohol and a down- sized menu specific to all inclusive- EVEN though we all had bracelets. We were secretly charged for these things (they punched in grey goose alcohol every chance unless you specified every time you are all inclusive) along the way and found out a couple days in (we only stayed 5 days). We ended up with over 500$ US extra in charges by day 3.
We decided to wait until the end of the trip as we did not want to stress the bride and groom out.
Also please note they DO add in tips automatically to each bill (that you HAVE to sign after each order). Another thing they DID NOT tell us is that you can ONLY pay with the card to the room which food and drinks are being ordered. You cannot combine food and drink with another room and put it all on "one bill" or else you will get charged.
Checking out was terrible. We were there for 2-3 hours trying to straighten out all the charges and bills. One couple was charged 5000$ US. It was horrible and EXTREMELY stressful to say least.
We ended up getting the bills straightened out ultimately *BUT* somehow everyone got charged different amounts! We all stayed the same amount of nights in the same tower same rooms with the SAME package but some got charged less than others. No one seemed to have the answer to why this was.
I have been to MANY all inclusive vacations that were stress free and easy you flash your bracelet and you get what you paid for! All the alcohol any of the food items.
Here was much different.
If it were up to me I would have stayed next door at the RIU and saved myself the time and money spent at Atlantis. It really is too bad because I was really looking forward to this resort!
This caused our family to have a very negative and stressful experience.

PROS: very beautiful and clean resort. Cool waterslides. Rooms were okay. Pools were clean but just ok.

Good food (especially the loaded nachos at the pool bars), very friendly staff, huge complex with a lot of activities to do (was missing more activities like trivias etc :-)), prices of food and beverages too high; beverage package totally recommendable; drinks included while gambling in the casino; beautiful beaches and pools; always good music at the pool; awesome waterpark (short waiting times at the rides)

Hi carinalanger, Thanks for visiting Atlantis! We are happy that you had some great meals with us during your stay at Atlantis' Beach Tower and it sounds like you also had a lot of fun at Aquaventure. Please know, now guests can enjoy all the wonder of Atlantis with three great dining plans offering full breakfast and dinner at some of our most popular restaurants. Plus children 11 years and under now eat free with a purchase of an adult dining plan. We hope to see you again on future trips. - Atlantis Management Team

We came to Atlantis expecting a great time with an awesome experience. The Beach Towers were moldy and smelled of must. We walked into our room and found a crib. I probably wouldn't have minded so much, except we were on our first vacation without our baby. We asked for an upgrade when we arrived but were told we couldn't. Don't expect anything luxurious here. It is a motel 6 on the the beach, I would never pay what they ask to stay there.
We left and upgraded to the Royal Towers which were "better". Funny how we could upgrade when you go to a different check in desk.

This is more of a Resort than an Hotel, offering guests access to aquaria with Sharks, Sting Rays, Turtles, Etc. It also has a Dolphin & Sea Lion attraction on site. Plus many water slides and other attractions that one expects in a Water Park.
Food in the numerous Restaurants appear very expensive on the menus, however if you purchase a Meal plan with your booking these prices vanish and you can eat well within the constraints of the plan selected. The same applies to Drinks purchase a plan when making the reservation to avoid a shock.
The Water Park aspect of the Resort means that there are lots of children - so if you need a quiet retreat this is not for you. Also Many guests go for the Casino once again not a place for a quiet retreat.
The rooms are well equipped but walls are thin and conversations in adjoining rooms were audible. Not very pleasant if you have decided to have an early night and your neighbors arrive back from a party at 03:00.
One day of our stay was marred by there being no water - apparently due to a burst pipe and flooding in the building. However there was no attempt to inform guests as to the cause and likely duration of the disruption, or to supply alternative water supply except the Hotel's bottle water at US$7:00 for 1.5 litres. No apology was offered for this disruption
In general unless you have children, want to party or visit the Casino maybe it would be better to stay elsewhere and buy a day pass for the Water Park attractions at US$129.

We booked a fall package and decided to book a less expensive hotel room but take the gourmet meal plan. We paid a little extra for the room to get up on the 8th floor and have an amazing view. The room seemed to have been freshened up with a new coat of paint, new curtains and bright bedding accessories. The beds were very comfortable and the bath towels were thick and soft. Based on some negative reviews, we did not have mold, our air conditions worked perfectly, the room had everything in it that you needed but it did look like a slightly upgraded motel. It you have any issues with walking 15-20 minutes to everything (including food), this is not the place for you. If you have a bunch of kids and are looking to economize with the room, it would be fine. Pool right outside with lazy river. The food is another problem at the entire Atlantis. Try to find a menu with prices is difficult. It's hard to decide if the meal plan is worth purchasing if you don't know how much the meals cost. I thought this was little shady. The place is enormous and it always feels like your going around in circles. Next time I would find a nice boutique hotel or villa outside of the resort and spend a day visiting. Must definitely say that Service was some of the best I have every experienced through out the resort. Lovely happy and gracious staff.
