“Nice Resort”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Its a beautiful resort but very expensive. They charge additional daily fees of
$17.54,levy tax & $17.54 guest tax,$5.00 Gratuity,$13.95 utility service fee, which are not disclosed when your reservation is made.My friends renewed their wedding vows which is why I was in the Bahamas. The renewal of the vows was on Cove beach and it was beautiful. The reception was at the
Fathoms which is breath taking. The food was delicious and it was a great affair. The Beach Towers service was nice.I had a personable chambermaid named Elizabeth and the rest of the staff I came in contact with were helpful also.We had dinner at the Barbeque Restaurant in the Beachtower and the food and the atmosphere was fantastic. All in all I had a great stay, but I received a shock when I was checking out of the resort and saw my bill which was printed out and reviewed with me by the receptionist.

Room Tip: Ask for the ocean view room.

Have been to atlantis 6 times and on our last visit stayed at the beach tower. Have stayed at the coral towers 4, the cove 1, and now here. The beach tower is great! We had our lil guy with us and it was perfect for families. The irony is that people from the reef and the cove were over near the beach pools with their children beacsue they said it was more fun. When traveling to Bahamas be prepared to pay, however you can bypass some expenses by stopping to get beer down the street (literally walking distance) The only downfall of the property is the lounge chairs and the cruisers that come in. I think they need to figure out a better system with chairs. people leave towels all day on chairs while others are sitting on towels on beach. To be quite honest.. if I saw a few chairs with just towels (no shoes, books, etc) I took the chair. and I never saw them for the day. only downfall is that. but rest of experience is great. It is a wonderful property for families of all ages. and the beach tower is a great spot with a fantastic price

We just arrived from a 5 day vacation in Atlantis. It is a must. The attractions are incredible, the pools top notch, and the beach great.

Do not shy away, because of the reviews saying food prices are expensive. The food prices are nothing out of the ordinary when compared to theme park. But, the quality is much, much better. For dinner, Virgils and Carmine's are a must, they have family style dining, therefore, one dish is more than enough for 4-5 people.

We stayed at the Beach Tower, which has a strip mall next to it (think 3 minute walk) and it has a grocery store, Dunkin Doughnut, etc. Also, the Marina is across the street and it has a Starbucks and Quiznos. These were our breakfast choices.

Atlantis is a great resort that should not be missed. If you are into marine life, aquariums etc, this is the place to go.

My husband and I traveled to Atlantis from May 14 through May 18, 2013. No one goes there thinking it's cheap, and if you want a budget vacation, don't go there. But if you want a nice room, high-powered A/C, wonderful customer service, and some of the best food even compared to European restaurants, Atlantis is your place. It is a large resort and involves some walking, but the pools and beaches are both pristine. The DJ's are fun at the pool, with people dancing. There are lots of families, and there are wait staff and security people everywhere, so you really feel safe. The beach is closely monitored, and you have to show your wrist band most places you go in Atlantis, which keeps it safe. The casino is fun but smokey. And the FOOD- it is so much better than an all-inclusive place. We didn't get the meal plan, but I walked right out of the resort to a grocery store on Paradise Island and we had PBJ's for lunch to make up for expensive dinners. You do have to pay for wi-fi, the gym, etc, but the gym is state-of-the-art, and the staff gives you bottles of water, towels, etc. I recommend going to the grocery store right off the resort, on Paradise Island, to buy bottled water, and bring it back to the hotel. I drank the tap water and didn't get sick.

Anyone who reviews Atlantis and complains about the prices should be ignored. Anyone who travels to a resort of this nature should NOT be shocked by the HIGH prices. (It is no more money than food at major theme parks) Even though it is not in everyone's budget, it is DEFINITELY worth the splurge. A tip is to visit the few stores located across the street....we bought soda and other snacks for a lot less money than at the hotels.

As a budget mom who watches every penny, we brought a suitcase filled with snacks that made the trip a bit more affordable. As it turned out, we only spent approximately $30-40/day on food at the resort (no major high end meals).

As far as the atmosphere, the resort is filled with AMAZING and BREATHTAKING scenery. It is probably the most beautiful place I have ever visited. We stayed for 4 days and had plenty to do without ever leaving the resort. Each morning we headed to the water slides before they became too busy. We headed to the hotel pool for the rest of the day. Our girls (8 & 11) enjoyed the lazy river that was attached.

We went on all of the slides that required tubes. I am not a swimmer and very much enjoyed all of the pools and slides. The "Crazy" lazy river was also enjoyed by all.

At night, we enjoyed walking on the Cove's beach, wandering around the vast grounds, and explored the Dig. Since most people gamble in the evening or eat at the fancy restaurants, the grounds are fairly empty and serene. It was my favorite part of the day. The weather was beautiful and the trade winds kept the heat bearable.

Do not believe anyone who tells you that the staff is rude. We NEVER encountered a person who spoke to us in a negative manner. We were greeted with smiles at the front desk (amid a jumble of people), were given free lockers to change and enjoy the amenities until our room was ready, the maids were extremely friendly and always made sure we were having a good time, and one of the workers at the food stand could not have been nicer. Unless a person feels entitled to be treated like royalty, this place has a good staff of people.

Even though the hotel room itself was nothing special, it was clean and adequate. The Beach Tower is the farthest from the activities, but the walk was not terribly bad. Yes, it is one of the most expensive places to visit and it can get overwhelming when a person expects to participate in ALL activities, but for a simple family like mine, we enjoyed the lavish setting, and understood that we were on a budget. If I had the money, I would definitely visit again....unfortunately, this vacation was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I am glad that I had the chance to take.

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view

I just returned from 4 nights at the Atlantis Hotel. I have to say it was not what all the advertisements and the reviews say! So first, when you purchase your room, they charge you gratuity. Then, when you purchase anything else they charge more gratuity! It's ghetto-bougie-not-so-fabulous! So, then when we got in our room we wanted to ask the staff something, so we used the phone, but when we picked it up, we realized that it was cracked in half and was superglued back together. The beds were ok, but we woke up with back pain. So then when I went to take a shower, there was mold all over the shower curtain! After that, I went to get ice and I realized that it was in the maid's quarters and that there were wet towels scattered all over the floor. There were also roaches in the hotel room and they were also crawling all over the outsides of the food stands. There were black speckles in the faucet water, and the staff were ok until we wanted to order something, and the maids did a pretty good job (except for the shower mold) , and the beaches and pools were cool and different, but extremely crowded.

Pro: the pool is awesome, the staff is super friendly, the food is delicious-we are at marketplace, Virgil's, and Seagrapes. The pottery place was fun, the daily list if activities is huge, the movie theater with complimentary movies was nice, it was within a short walk to everything on the resort. The room keys served as payment at all the restaurants and shops. The hotel is a 20 minute ride from the airport.

Cons: our room smelled like urine. We didn't complain because we didn't plan on being in the room much. The meal plan didnt include all the restaurants and didnt include gratuity. The prices for essentials in the Sundry Stores was ridiculous--$22 for a normal size bottle of sunblock. We had to buy two. Finding chairs by the pools was difficult, as the cruise ships dump their people off to use the resort (which sucks for us who paid BIG to stay at the resort). Also another annoying thing about the cruise people us that they make lines huge for the water slides. Every person I saw had a carnival bracelet on.

All in all we had a fantastic time and will definitely come back.
