We stayed at the beach tower with our son. We tried our hardest to get an upgrade to no avail. No big deal though. The room was average at best the view was ok. The resort however was great! So much for my 10 year old to do not a dull moment. The restaurants were good. My recommendation is the Mesa grill at the cove. It was excellent. The shopping and food were both very expensive but we were prepared for that. Would definitely recommend for a family but for just a couple there are much better places to go.

We booked for the beach tower but were told we got upgraded to coral reef, which sounded great. I felt special at first to hear the word "upgraded", and fell for it. They assigned us room number 4403 and everything started to change. The door to the veranda would not lock/close, so we had to suffer the noise. The carpeting is very dirty and the bad smell is 24/7, and thank God we had some air fresheners and sprays with us which helped a bit, to reduce the suffering. We could not use the fridge because it was full of drinks and I had no place to store my special food, being a diabetic. Their coffee maker is the cheapest in the world, and allows brewing one cup at a time only. They have no microwave and that's a big minus too. The only good thing I can say is that the place is spectacular and the staff are extremely nice, but I know better the real meaning of "upgraded" now.

Our family was very excited about his trip, but as soon as we checked in the problems started. Upon arrival, the minibar in our room had spoiled food in it that made the entire room smell. Two calls later and it was cleaned. Then we noticed that the carpet was soaking wet, another call and someone came up to put towels on the floor too soak up the water. We go to get into the beds and the sheets on both beds were wet. Another call down to the front desk and an hour later, we have dry sheets. The next morning the staff changed our room. We arrived at the new room only to find it hadn't been cleaned...still had food and clothes from prior occupants. We call the desk again to have the maid come up and clean when I realize that the prior occupants are still checked in to the room. I hate to think of what would have happened had they found us in the room. We are assigned a third room and this time it was a little better, although the message system on our phone and entry hall light didn't work. Spend a little more money and stay in a different tower.

Today we take the Internet and cell phone service for granted. If you go to Atlantis, prepare to go back in time to a world where Internet is a luxury and cell phones don't work.

If you have a Verizon CDMA phone (the US standard), Verizon will tell you that it will work, but it doesn't. I purchased a data roaming plan and spent 30 minutes on the phone with Verizon and they couldn't get either data or voice service to work. If I had, I'd have gotten the privilege of paying $1.99 a minute for a voice call, 50 cents for an outgoing text, and 5 cents for an incoming text. GSM (AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon "international" phones) apparently work, but apparently BTC is phasing out CDMA service, so be warned if you expect to use your Verizon or Sprint phone at Atlantis. (This isn't really an Atlantis problem, but just be warned that Verizon can't deliver what they advertise.)

As for WiFi, Atlantis charges you $19.95 per day for WiFi that theoretically works all over the property. At the Beach Towers, WiFi service was great early in the morning (before 7:30 or so), and mid-morning through mid-afternoon - in other words, it worked great when nobody was around. As soon as everyone got back from the beach at 5 and got on their laptops, iPods and iPads, WiFi became almost unusable. WiFi is available almost everywhere, which is nice. It's just not reliable in your room at the times when you're most likely to want to use it.

Save your money. For what you pay - the beach tower is no more than a Comfort inn AT BEST. My husband and I were shocked that the Atlantis continues to get the amount of people they do for the service they provide at the price we all pay.

We basically felt like we were in a tourist trap all week. The room at the Beach Tower was literally, gross. Cookies on the floor when we checked in and the floor was WET?? Also, the bed wasn't made. They had checked us into a room that had not been cleaned - we switched rooms only to find out it was more of the same.

In our opinion, the only place staying at the Atlantis and actually even paying for would be the Reef Tower or the Cove. The problem is - even these are incredibly overpriced for a crowded resort with Mediocre amenities.

Hotel was very old and they built the beautiful new hotels joined with the older hotels. Definitely take the Beach view or you'll end up looking at a roof and parking lot. Beach view OK and small balcony OK. Beds very comfortable in the beach tower.

Restaurants advertised and clubs advertised were closed so half the activities were not available at all. No dancing for adults anywhere so forget the night life advertised. Gym, classes, night club, everthing was extra. Even free drink cards you had to pay 15% gratuity.

Only one buffet was available and it was very good but if you don't want to eat with 150 whiney kids then this is not the place for you. For my teenagers it was great - they loved the buffet and the CRUSH night club. The water park was good for a couple days but they were disappointed the climbing wall was lame, the gym cost $25 a day. For 2 days they had enough to do and then they were ready to go home.

The drinks are ridiculously expensive, water is $7 a bottle and there is no free drinking fountain anywhere. Bag of fritos cost $2.

Staff was very nice and always helpful. Security was good - always felt safe.

Beach was beautiful and rented jet skis and had a nice ride.

Wildlife - fish, turtles, the ruins was fantastic and saved the trip for us!

Room Tip: Get the beach view - not any Terrace Views. The new hotels Royal Tower, The Cove looked great. Wou...

Huge artificial environment. If you like Vegas and you have to travel with kids...you'll like this place. Still, after 15 years there is the chemical cleaner smell everywhere that has removed vomit over the years. Smoking allowed nearly everywhere and poor air circulation doesn't help. Allowing fat guys to walk around in shorts without a shirt in the public spaces inside the hotel doesn't make it any more attractive.
I was here as an executive of a company meeting that brought the resort $500k+ in revenue. Yet, I wasn't given a late check-out (1.30 pm requested) in a resort/hotel with 1000 rooms (?!). Lack of available rooms or really lack of will ?
the positive side, the resort was nearly sold out when we were there and yet the beaches were not crowded (can't say the same about the pools). The restaurant MESA at the Cove (as well as the entire Cove part of the resort) seemed classier and had great food & service. Also, you are on an island and getting anywhere from the resort requires a taxi. If you can afford the additional $$$, I would recommend booking at the One & Only resort about one mile away. It's secluded, classy and also great with kids...and is connected to Atlantis resort via beach which allows access to all Atlantis waterpark "amenities".

Room Tip: Choose the Cove part of the resort or go to One & Only Beach Club 1 mile down the street.
