Friend and I May 3-7 shared unit #111, one bedroom + 1.5 bathrooms (1/2 on the first floor which was convenient). We were literally 6 feet away from 1 of 2 pools. These units face the street; however, the pool and vegetation, waterfalls interfered with the street view. The unit needed a bit of TLC...the sofa bed was terrible (sank into the couch and could hear the springs on the bed), downstairs powder room needed updating. The upstairs king bed was very comfy bathroom nice. Staff was really nice and shared where to go and what to do, arranging quick taxi service too, and daily maid service (fresh towels, etc.). We had groceries delivered by islandgrocerbahamas.com (Marvin Davis very helpful). Nnot everything is listed online but send them via email a complete list, and they will deliver the items not listed. The unit was 6 feet from the pool and 40 feet away from Violas. The unit was clean, adequate kitchen for 2 people, good air conditioning, refrigerator worked well. The only consideration for those with younger children is Viola's has activities that run late into the evening (but we had programmed our PC with a fan noise so we didn't hear a thing). Violas food was good, convenient and with scheduled evening fun activities. The food is priced right and tasty! The beach is 1 minute away from the front door and is amazing! The path beside the pool leads through two locked and coded gates which were functional and made us feel safe. The local Bahamians on the beach daily selling goods and water rides and snorkeling excursions. The water is a breath-takingly CLEAR aqua blue during the day...rougher water towards night time. You can rent chairs and umbrellas $15 per person (you can make deals). We took ferry ride ($8RT with a bit of history along the way) to Nassau downtown where there's lots of shopping and eateries. You can catch the ferry under the bridge next to Jimmy Buffet’s and across the street from the oncoming bridge traffic. Cheaper than a cab ride for us. Buy a drink from the lady under the bridge while waiting for the ferry. We toured the distillery (short tour but awesome drinks). We walked down to Atlantis (amazing!). We also toured the 2-5 bedroom villas at Sunrise and they were GORGEOUS -- would rent a villa in a heartbeat but of course more expensive than the 1 bedroom). If we come back to Paradise, we will definitely stay at Sunrise but probably in a villa. We had a great time!

Room tip: We were able to negotiate with the hotel...they gave us a nice discount which made it very affordable (thank you Carla).

My family and I (2 adults and 2 children ages 8 and 12) stayed in villa 115 from April 29, 2017-May 6, 2017. Let me first say that Dawn and Carla were fantastic! Dawn answered all of my e-mails in a timely fashion, Carla provided excellent guidance for local store considerations and both ladies ordered us reputable cabs to explore the island. I thank Dawn and Carla for all of the laughs we had as well!

The villa was perfect for us! The pool was right outside of our door and Viola's was all of 20 feet away! The bed upstairs was extremely comfortable for my wife and I, and our children loved sleeping on the couch/pull out bed which wasn't the typical spring loaded and folded up bed that tucks into the couch, the bottom bed rolls out from under the couch! No need for two bedrooms if you’re willing to sacrifice a little space. The villa was very clean and had the perfect amenities for us to save some $ by cooking meals after shopping at the local grocery store just across the bridge. The air conditioning kept us super comfortable and the refrigerator worked perfectly! There were no construction noises or anything disruptive while we slept. The cleaning ladies washed our towels every day and brought them back fresh and warm! The only consideration for those with younger children is Viola's has activities that run until 12 a.m. some nights which could disrupt sleep for some, but our children slept like rocks after all of the swimming and beach activities they participated in!

Viola's is awesome! Be nice to the waiters and waitresses and they will take care of you. All of Viola's staff we interacted with were so nice and treated us with utmost respect. The food is priced right and is tasty! The tropical frozen drinks were a bit pricey, but were always delicious. The ribs, wings, rice and peas, Mac and cheese, and fried plantains were my favorite. Breakfast is extremely reasonable and my children loved the French toast!

The beach is 20 seconds from the front door and is amazing! The path beside the pool leads through two locked and coded gates which were functional and made us feel safe. The local Bahamians are on the beach every day selling goods and rides on the banana float, wave runners, and 1.5 hour snorkeling excursions. My children and I had a blast on the banana float and a wave runner! Wait until closer to 4:30 -5 pm for discounted rates as the guys running the water activities will typically come down in price a little. I paid $30 for a half hour on a wave runner, which was actually 23 minutes (my daughter kept track ) as the guy didn’t have a clock and was going off of ?? It’s much more to rent wave runners at the Jersey shore and you can’t see the bottom of the ocean like you can in the Bahamas, so don’t pass up on the opportunity! The guys are very courteous (loud and annoying at times) but will leave you alone once you say or shake your head, “no”.

Do yourself a favor and take the ferry if you are looking to explore downtown Nassau. You can catch the ferry under the bridge next to Jimmy Buffet’s and across the street from the oncoming bridge traffic. The fare is $4 each way per person, but worked out to be much cheaper than a cab ride for us. Buy a drink from the lady under the bridge while waiting for the ferry. The Bahama Papa was amazing! Once in town, you can catch a jitney (bus) for 1.25 out front of McDonalds which will take you to the Fish Fry (local’s spot) for food. The tropical conch salad and Sky Juice is absolutely wonderful!! My family and I never felt unsafe and we went back twice during our stay. The food portions are inexpensive and massive!

We look forward to our next trip back to the Bahamas, and especially our next stay at Sunrise Beach Clubs! Thank you to all

We are not especially picky customers, but I have a problem with the local drug dealer walking through the property (twice that I saw- and I know he was a drug dealer because he asked if we wanted to buy something). He walked through the pool area and down to the beach -avoiding the security gate (why even have a security gate?). After he does business, he walks up from the beach back up to the hotel, gets his product and back again. Bottom line, there is no security AT ALL. Anyone can get in and out of this hotel.

Other issues: toilet got stuffed up. NO plungers in the room. Water from toilet everywhere, had to clean up with towels. Told the office at around 9 am and upon our return to the room around 3pm, toilet still plugged and gnarly contents still in it. Towels still there. Went to the office again and strongly urged the office staff to get a plunger to the room immediately- it stunk. We got a plunger a few minutes later, housekeeping staff advised us that they'd been busy. Housekeeping gratuity added into bill, and maybe has something to do with lack of urgency to clean the rooms.

Bathroom fans sound like leaf blowers, they're on every time the lights are on. Office staff didn't say goodbye or thankyou when we left. We didn't expect it but would have been nice. Good things about the hotel: fried conch fritters were tasty and we did enjoy what we ordered at the restaurant. Drinks are good. Waitresses during the day were quite nice.

Wouldn't come again.

Room tip: Don't know. Try to get a room by the pool

Thank you so much for sharing your experience here. Unfortunate incidents can easily change a hotel stay from great to poor, and I’m so sorry that happened to you. We appreciate your wonderful review of our onsite restaurant Viola's Bar & Grill. Thanks again.

We stayed 8 nights @ Sunrise we rented a 2 bedroom for me, my wife and 3 young kids.

Rooms was very adequate for all of us. Apartment was well maintained.

We used NassauGrocery to order groceries before we came here and it was in our Room before we got there.Hotel is close to Atlantis so we walked around and had dinners there.

Ocean is very rough near the apartments, you need to walk along the cabbage beach to get to the edge of the reef (20 minute walk) away from atlantis to get to calm waters which is like a pool.

Just a word of warning some of the apartments are not updated, we were initially given a one bedroom apartment which had dirty carpets, leaky Kitchen and bathroom leaked. So stay away from one bedrooms.

The location of this property is amazing. It is right on the gorgeous Cabbage Beach, far enough away from Atlantis.
The Room we stayed in was fine enough but could use a make over. It was not nice. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fine.
The staff at this property were not pleasant. The cabbies that I experienced were more friendly..
They should be better trained..
Violas, the restaurant on the property, can do a better job with their menu. There is not one vegetable and zero fruit. Is there no fruit on the island??
The Viola staff were very nice. They always welcomed us with a smile..
