“Some things really good, some lacking.”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

The location is great. The views are non exsistent of course. There are no balconies. Pool was nice and the rooms themselves very clean and decent. Breakfast was what you would expect but saves you a lot of $$.
Asked for rooms next to one another and pool walk out if possible. Asked via email and received a really nice response back that they would try. Our rooms were on opposite sides of the building and of course no walk out. Check in staff did not even attempt to remedy the fact our family being that far apart was a real issue. Housekeeping staff were super friendly and nice but do not tip them as they force you to tip them $5.00 per person per day in your hotel rate. For that I expected a tuck in and lullaby:) Would most likely go back due to the Atlantis passes and the fact Atlantis is a fairy tale.

Room Tip: Don't bother as you are not guaranteed it anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to correspond your comments. I do apologize for the Front Desk not being more accommodating with your room request. Even though we were busy we should have been able to assign you rooms closer together. We do make it a point to inform all guests at the time of booking and again at check-in of all the extra charges one would encounter when staying with us.
We would like to thank you for your partronage and promise to work on the items lacking that you have mentioned. We do look forward to having you as our guest again in the near future.

Just finished a wonderful 6 Days/5 Nights on Paradise Island staying at the Comfort Suites. Without a doubt this is the best value for experiencing everything that Paradise Island/Atlantis has to offer.

First off: Staying at this hotel will grant you free access, every day, to the entire Atlantis complex. Every beach, every pool, every waterslide, every towel, every sunchair is just as much yours as the people who paid double (or more!) to stay in the Atlantis towers. You are right next to the wonderful Marina Village (with shopping/restaurants) and a short, 6.5 minute walk to the central Atlantis area where you pick up your daily wristband. You can charge meals and booze to your room from Atlantis as well. Total convenience.

The wristband desk (Aquaventure Desk in the lower level of the lobby of the Royal Towers) opens at 8:30 every morning. They're sometimes open 10~12 minutes earlier than 8:30.

The hotel is clean, the beds were nice and comfortable, and the staff was so helpful and accommodating. Major props to Joethel at the front desk for sorting out an issue when I checked in! You definitely want to stay in the West Wing on the third floor in an even-numbered room. The even-numbered rooms look over the pool, and the low odd numbers (301 - 321) overlook Atlantis. The West Wing is very convenient to the doorway that goes to Atlantis.

Some timing/$$$ things:
Breakfast opens at 7AM - Get there early and load up, and take a few bagels/pieces of fruit to have for lunch. You can manage to only eat out for one meal a day that way, which will save you loads of money as meals in Atlantis can run upwards of $40 pp very quickly, even more at the nicer ones. My girlfriend and I picked up water, fruit, booze, and lunch meat from a local grocery store (Super Value on Mackey Street, close to Paradise Island) and saved an absolute bundle and enjoyed ourselves just as much.

The waterslides (with the exception of the Power Tower) open at 9, but they're dependent on an employee doing test runs on each one beforehand. Timing there can be +/- 15 min. The Power Tower opens at 10.

The best beach is The Cove - admittedly a long walk (12~15 min) from the Comfort Suites, but worth the trip in terms of noise level, calmness of water, clarity of water, variability of fish swimming around, and excellent sunchairs with their own canopies.

I hope this was helpful :)

This is our third trip to the Atlantis (twice in Royal Towers). At the beginning of our trip we stayed at the Coral Towers and mid-trip switched to the Comfort Suites. The walk to the beach is actually quicker from our room here then our room at the Coral Towers (due to very very slow elevators).

You get full, unrestricted use, with charging priveleges at the Atlantis. Including the water parks, the Dig, the movie theatre, kids camp, etc.

I heard rumors that the Atlantis/Comfort Suites relationship is being severed, due to the not so recent acquisition, but it was a "rumor"...might not be valid.

Regarding the hotel itself. For work, I'm in 2 different hotels a week...this hotel is a good "motel". It's very clean, has the basics and serves a purpose. It's absolutely not perfect or high end, but that's ok. We showered, we slept, we did laundry, we ate, we used the complimentary WiFi...and on rain days, we used the on property pool in-between rain showers. I also like the convenience to Anthonys, mini mart, starbucks and johnny rockets.

Room Tip: Ask for a room near the "mid property" steps...convenient to the outdoor breakfast. Don...

We always wanted to go to Atlantis... but we were warned how expensive it was. So I was a little worried about staying at the Comfort Suites. I had read all the reviews so we took the chance. All I can say is it would be crazy not to stay here!! The help were so nice and pleasant everyday. The rooms were extremely clean, very spacious, and brand new. To stay at the Atlantis, unless stay in the expensive rooms, dont bother, stay here instead!! The walk was just as close as all the other towers. We were on the 3rd floor, not noisey and an easy walk right across to the marina village. You have full acess of Atlantis, and you use your pink card as your credit card. At comfort suites free wifi, free breakfast, were as Atlantis you pay for wifi. The free breakfast definetly saves you money. It was good, not fantastic. The same everyday, but we went to Dunkin Donuts 2times to break it up. Also we went to Anthonys next door for a nice breakfast. We bought waters next door and put them in the refrigerator in our room, took them to the beach. On the 3rd floor they have a washer and dryer, so was able to wash the wet bathing suits, which was great. All in all the vacation was wonderful. I would highly recommend staying at Comfort Suites, you save almost half by staying here!!!!

Room Tip: Try to get 3rd floor around 300's close to walkway to Atlantis and quiet. All rooms are renovate...

First off - many thanks to Tigervette, scubagirrl, and wwbev711 for all of your information. Your tips and general information were so helpful in planning our vacation.

Hotel - Our stay at the Comfort Suites was very pleasant from the time we checked in until we checked out. Asked for microwave and it was promptly delivered - no charge. Be sure to get laminating pouches(Scotch brand 2.5" x 3.5") before you arrive for your Comfort Suites guest cards to be used at Aquaventure, Aura, etc. Laminating protects them from getting wet and ruined. You will have to pay for a replacement card. Clean rooms and all of the staff would speak to us daily with a "Hello, Good Morning or Good Evening". The Bahamian people in general we found to be the friendliest we have met during any vacation!!!

Pool/Bar - Stopped by the pool bar many times and was greeted by the always pleasant Krystal, one of the bartenders. We also had the pleasure of meeting Paul - a lively bartender who was a real character...

Transportation - We used Cheryl Ferguson the entire trip, even to downtown Nassau- excellent experience. Our family were the only ones driven to/from airport in the SUV and also to downtown Nassau....It was great not to be herded into a van with 15 others and luggage bouncing around.. Mr. Adderly from Cheryl's Taxi was a very professional and informative driver - we would highly recommend using Cheryl's.

Night Life - We went to Aura nightclub on Thursday nite 08/22 - (no cover charge, but have heard they can charge a cover depending on who's there, or if there's an event happening, etc), and Senor Frogs - typical tourist place with drinking games, karaoke, dancing servers...fun place.

Meals - Ate at Green Parrot, Anthony's, Double Dragon, Hard Rock Café, Murrays Delicatessen, and Montagu Gardens...loved our meal at Montagu...they will pay for cab over the bridge and bring you back to your hotel...If you have a sweet tooth, make sure you order the Guava Duff there for dessert....so,so good......Our son looked to order conch fritters every day, every where we went...lol.

Shopping/Excursions - If shopping for crafts/souvenirs, walk down to Bahamian Craft Center and bargain for a good deal there - example: a baseball style cap may be $25 in Marina Village or in Paradise Shopping Village compared to $8 at Bahamian Craft Center. The Craft Center is located just behind the Paradise Island shopping Center and Scotia Bank... Went to Blue Lagoon Island for Dolphin Encounter, very well organized and worth every penny.

Weather/Beach/Pools - every day was great.. Even though its the rainy/hurricane season, it only rained the most on one day - early in the morning for about a half hour and then later that evening around 5pm for about 45 minutes, but it quickly dries up as if it never rained....another day you may experience a quick shower, but nothing to ruin your day..
Enjoyed the beach, pools and Aquaventure.

We would love to return to the Bahamas, very happy and helpful people.!!

If you have any questions, please PM me!!!

Room Tip: As others have stated, a west wing upper floor above lobby level.

My wife and I stayed at Comfort Suites with our 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter for 7 days in June 2013. The price to stay in an Atlantis Hotel was so much higher we decided to stay at Comfort Suites and use the money we saved to spend on activities and other items. We thought it may be a lesser experience not being in Atlantis but that is not true and staying here was the best decision we could have made.

Following are various topics and comments:

Bahamas Airport Transportation
When we booked our trip online the cost for roundtrip taxi transportation from airport to hotel was $150. I did not buy this knowing we could get it cheaper at the airport so after we landed we went outside to get a taxi. WARNING: There will be "official" taxis and private taxis, both charging different amounts. The official taxis have to charge a set price depending on where you are going. The private taxis charge whatever they want which is more than the official taxis. A one way trip to Comfort Suites was $42 total so don't pay more. Our driver was Phillip and he was great! He pointed out all the sights and agreed to pick us up at the hotel when we left. $84 vs $150...This was a good choice.

Comfort Suites
Located right across the street from the Atlantis Coral Tower Hotel. Clean rooms. Kind of small for 4 people but we only used it for sleeping so it worked. The staff was friendly and always said hello. We stayed on the third floor so we heard no noise ever. As you know, the price of food in and around Atlantis is very high, so the best option was the included free Breakfast Buffet. This saved us a lot of money. They only had bacon on Saturday morning. The items are the same everyday, but if you know that then eat something different daily and you won't get tired of the food. We did not use the pool or eat in the hotel restaurant.

Atlantis
Our kids LOVED Atlantis. We would walk to Atlantis everyday around 10am and stay until 5pm or later. From Comfort Suites, the walk to the Atlantis Coral Tower lobby takes only 3 minutes. Once in the lobby you walk through a walkway that connects the hotels through the casino and to the desk in the lower level of the Royal Towers. This takes only a couple of minutes. At the desk you pick up your free daily wristband for Atlantis that lets you use and visit all attractions (this is a $125 per person value that is free if you stay at Comfort Suites). Carry your Comfort Suites identification so the Atlantis staff let you get to the wristband desk everyday. The water slides and the rapid river was what our kids wanted to do all day long. Lines were not too long. Wear lots of sun lotion to prevent burning from the strong sun. To take a break from the slides and pools, for a few hours each day we would go to one beach by Beach Tower and another beach by the Cove to swim in the ocean. Our kids both did the Atlantis dolphin attraction. It was very expensive at approximately $200 per person. In the end we were happy we did this and as part of the price you get a mask and snorkel that can be used the rest of the vacation. Atlantis is BIG, so be prepared to walk a lot and go up many steps. At night for entertainment we would cross the street and go to Marina Village where there is a weekly parade and a number of restaurants and dessert shops. Fun to people watch at Marina Village. There are aquariums, pools, restaurants and shops all over Atlantis and after 7 days we were still discovering new things to see.

Nassau
One day we did take a water taxi to downtown Nassau to see the Straw Market and sites. We knew they would try and sell us items but no one was overly aggressive and we just said "no thanks" and they left us alone. The kids found plenty of small things to buy. This is where the cruise ships come in so seeing them at the dock was cool. On the dock was an artist named Jeff Lewis painting beach scenes on flat pieces of wood for only $5...BEST item we purchased.

Food/Drinks
Cost of eating and drinking is extremely high. On our first day we did go to a store near Comfort Suites and buy a case of water. When we went to Atlantis we would put some ice in a soft beverage carrier and bring water bottles and flavor packets. Occasionally we would purchase a soft drink but not often. We also brought snacks on the trip and would bring those to Atlantis and eat them all day. The food at the snack shops in Atlantis was okay and a hamburger or sub was about $8-10. Our kids are picky eaters so we did not buy much of the as they would eat snacks during the day. At night, we ate a few times at Quiznos in Marina Village or had pizza in Atlantis or at the restaurant next to Comfort Suites. The item our kids liked the best in Atlantis was the JUMBO COOKIE. It was huge and only cost $4. They would run out of cookies early so we would search them out when we first got to Atlantis in the morning, buy a few and then eat them through the day. Looking back, this was a highlight for us and the kids.

Summary
From research we knew what to expect at Atlantis regarding the price of everything. Staying at Comfort Suites worked well for our family and we saved a lot of money but still did everything we wanted. The kids enjoyed it the most are already planning a return trip for us.
