“Very good food, superb service, terrible atmosphere”
Reviewed February 15, 2014

The seafood here was very good and the service top rate. The wait staff was quick and attentive without being overbearing. What could have been an excellent meal is spoiled by the atmosphere. This place is overly loud and the only detraction I can give at this time - but it is bad enough to earn an average rating. Pricing is average for the island - around $45 per entree, wine was on the high side. 15% gratuity is automatically added which is the case all around this resort.

“Antiquated food in a exquisite setting”
Reviewed February 13, 2014

We went here for dinner on the evening we arrived at Paradise Island. The setting is absolutely beautiful. The restaurant is in the marina and has many tables next to windows with great views, which is where we were seated. The building is very historic-looking on the inside (in a nice way) and includes a very old-fashioned elevator (purely decorative now). The dining room is quite large with a very high ceiling which sports two rows of ceiling fans that are powered by a system of pulleys. I found it all quite captivating. It's one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to.

However, the style of cuisine is as old as the architecture.

We ordered the escargot and cracked conch to start, followed by grouper and snapper for our main courses.

The escargot was the blandest preparation I have ever had. It was supposed to be escargot with garlic butter, but the butter tasted no different from normal butter and it was completely unseasoned. The frozen escargot sold at Whole Foods is better.

I had hoped the cracked conch would be a fusion of the local cracked conch dish and French cuisine, but it borrowed nothing from France that I could see. It was just deep-fried conch meat in the Bahamian style, and the meat had not been tenderized properly so there were pockets of very chewy bits.

The main courses were an improvement, but still disappointing--both fish were very overcooked, which completely ruins seafood dishes. On the plus side, the mushrooms that came with the grouper were delicious.

In total we paid about $215 (including a bottle of wine and mandatory 15% gratuity).

I strongly recommend that you come here to marvel at the elevator. When you reach the landing, take a look around the beautifully decorated waiting area and peek into the dining room. Then leave and eat at Nobu.

“Business trip”

Subpar and overhyped. Definitely wouldn't go there again

Hotel rooms needed über maintenance, room service is so slow, and the staff have more attitude than a pre k class

“Best meal in the Bahamas”

We finally had a good meal while at the Bahamas. Everything was tasty. Expensive, but worth it. So glad we went there.
