Visited Nassau with Enchantment of the Seas. Took a bus for $1.25 pp from Dunkin Donuts (the free Wifi spot) to Cable beach. Got down and walked straight to a public access beach. The water there is magical. Walked across the beach, in front of the hotels to Saunder's beach, which has calmer waters. Hotels on Cable beach are too fancy but they are at a prime location. The beaches are not crowded at all and you can spend as much time in water as you want. We did not take any day pass as we did not need to use any of the hotel facilities. Hotels should, however, work hard to keep the beach clean from debris and junk.

Nice beach with white sand and beautiful views. Good location and a quick trip to town by bus or taxi. Bus better value, bus scary!

Recently visited Nassau while on a Carnival Sunshine cruise. After reading many reviews I decided to go to Cable Beach. I was brought to the Wyndam Nassau Resort by private taxi (Dee Dee #769). I paid $20 for a day pass & was able to enjoy several hours on the beach. I had access to very nice lounge chairs, the beach bar, water floats, kayaks & very clean restrooms and many other amenities right on the beach. I can't wait to go back!!

Always jet ski rental people or someone else trying to sell something. Do not go to the Bahamas if you are looking to relax, you will not be left alone.

We have learned from our travels that the best way to explore if you are with your spouse is to rent a car so you are not at the mercy of tours where you have to wait for others to get on the bus and go to all locations. We can stay longer or shorter when you have your own tranportation. After lunch at Potters Cay, we drove to Cable Beach, free parking across the road, short walk to Melia Hotel and Resort (used to be the Sheraton) lobby and walked to the rear to the beach area. Melia had many empty chairs so we put our belongings on one of the chairs and checked out the water. It was not warm as expected and a bit dirty, most likely from the rain and winds for the last 2 days, but the sun was out so that was nice. There was no charge at the Melia, so we were able to use the beach and facilities for free, that was a nice bonus after reading that one reviewer paid $ 40 for the beach usage. Unfortunately big resorts and casinos going up latter part of this year, so this will give Atlantis some competition. It is being built by Chinese company(ies) and since all will be new, definitely a major upgrade from the now older Atlantis on Paradise Island. For us, we still like Aruba beaches (Baby Beach, http://www.aruba.com/things-to-do/baby-beach) and Megans Bay in St. Thomas, http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g147406-d149849-Reviews-Magens_Bay-Magens_Bay_St_Thomas_U_S_Virgin_Islands.html, much better.
