Coral Harbour Beach House and Villas
Ranked #25 of 37 Hotels in Nassau
Reviewed April 19, 2008

We spent five days at Coral Harbour - what a wonderful vacation. It is off the beaten track so if you are wanting to experience a little of the out islands on New Providence this is the way to go. If you want nightlife and shops this is not for you. The rooms are spacious and clean. Before arriving make sure that you are stocked up with water and other provisions - there is a store about a 20 minute walk from the hotel. Snorkeling with Stuart Cove is definately recommended. The beach at the hotel is pretty - I loved it for its relaxing and quiet surroundings - definately would come back.

Stayed here two nights as the only guest. Plenty of people around though. They seemed to be long-term renters. I loved the peace and quiet. My room was 50 feet from the beach. It was just what I was looking for. They did, however, have trouble with the water supply and I couldn't wash my hair. The staff was friendly and polite. It was easy to overlook the water problems, the broken locks and shades, the crazy light system. It's all a part of being in a non-tourist situation. I would recommend having a car if staying more than two days. Just sitting on the beach can get awfully boring and that's all there is to do. I will definitely go back.

Believe that previous review of this title - the others must have been written by either the owners or the blind. Fortunately we were there only one night before heading to an out island. While the people were friendly, the place is a dump, packs of wild dogs on the beach at night, watered down booze at the "bar" and the rooms may well be for rent hourly (we found stray condom wrappers under the bed.) The web site completely misrepresents the place - there are no horses, no nice beach, no snorkeling. Makes for funny stories later, but the place is gross and the locals shifty. The have good jerked chikcen, if that's any reason to stay in an erstwhile crack house.

This place was definately the most relaxing place i had ever been. The nicest people I ever met. At the restaurant we had Beverly in the morning and Charmaine in the evening. Both were very friendly but Beverly was with out a doubt the most fun and caring person I ever met. She obviously loved her job and living in Coral Harbour. Food was great. My friend had the jerk chicken all four nights. Highly recommend it. Free conch fritters during happy hour. Excellent. The beach had some trash on it, but any beach besides a resort is subject to trash washing up on it. Its like that everywhere.
Hung out with the locals. Look for Andy and Chai. Also look for Dylan at the Stuart Cove Dive place. I also give Stuarts a 10. Tell them Randy, Matt and John said " hey mon, ya ya ya."
If your looking for a great place to relax away from the city (25 minutes), with the nicest people on earth who are definately on island time, this is the place to go. Just dont expect really fast service, activity coordinators, giant condos and a row of taxis hanging at the front of the hotel.
This place is very, very laid back and if thats not what your looking for, do not go here. You will be very disapointed. We met a couple from New York. They were looking for hustle and night life. They were not happy to be there. Although, you can rent a car at the hotel or get a taxi to go to town and have the best of both worlds. This may be the best place on earth to chill for a few days island local style.
Bring your snorkel and mask to the beach. Also snorkel around the jetti to the left. Lots of fish, starfish and conch. Try the conch fritters and jerk chicken, be nice to Bev and Charmaine cause you'll never meet anyone nicer, talk to the locals, go to Stuarts and scuba dive or snorkel, try the Kalik and Kalik Gold, lay on the hammocks on the beach and leave the long pants at home along with the extra t-shirts. But please dont get mad when theres nothing to do but relax, cause if you dont get a taxi thats all you can do and its paradise.

We thought we had found a quiet and secluded hotel near Nassau. We found a 1 star dump. We stayed here for 4 days, we were the only hotel guests the entire time. The hotels' outdoor bar is the local draw and were they must make their money. We were treated as we were an unwanted house guest. The room had a window style air-conditioner that was so loud, I had to cycle it on and off several times during the nights (on to cool down, off to get some sleep -earplugs did not even work) The rooms were so so. The hotel grounds were full of trash and not landscaped at all. The only thing the hotel staff would do to the property is rake the dirt driveway and parking lot. Rake the trash into a pile near the beach and burn it. The beach is just steps from the hotel, but is not taken care of. It is covered with Seaweed and dog poop. It has not seen a rake in YEARS! The seaweed is so thick, it is mixed into the sand and creates a sponge like feeling when you walk on it. The bay or harbor is basically dead, nothing but dead plant life in it. There is a small old hotel property that is abandoned next door and has a crazy old man that lives in it. The local neighbors told us to watch out for him because he can be violent. The wait staff were mixed- some friendly, some not. The only thing anyone cared about was getting our money. We were charged for everything and anything. For example: $2 US for a cup of hot water and a packet of instant coffee. We ordered "the special" for dinner, only to be billed full price, the "special" was for yesterday and the sign had not been erased yet.
I could go on and on about his place... hopefully you won't have to.

Quite secluded little getaway. Its about a 25 minute drive into downtown but the drive is beautiful and the staff at Coral Harbour are the nicest people on the island. They will go out of their way to get you what ever you need for a reasonable price. I stayed at Atlantis last time I was in the Bahamas and I would easily choose Coral Harbour over Atlantis. Thanks Beverly, Charmaine, Chantel, and Mrs. Taylor for your hospitality.
