If you are interested in seeing a historic plantation home and distillery while getting away from the hustle and bustle of downtown this is the place to go. They offer a free tour and offered a pina colada sample that was very tasty. There is also a area to purchase for later or have a cocktail at the bar.

We had a great tour here are part of a Royal Caribbean cruise. I would have given it 5 stars but I purchased a bottle of rum to take home and asked 2 different people at the distillery if this was good to fly home. All said Yup, no worries. Guess what, got to Orlando Airport, TSA made me throw it out!! :( TSA Said it was not wrapped in TSA approved bag and no way would they let it on the plane!! $36 down the drain. Beware!

Excellent rum tour in the Bahamas. Even better it's complimentary. Although they do not distill on the premises they do walk you through their barrel storehouse and bottling facility. We were greeted with a piña colada. The tour begins with a little history of the property which was once a plantation house and then a hotel. Next stop the well, which is deep and dig by hand. Then a look into the barrel storehouse and a sensory journey through the different rums John Watling's produces.
This concludes the tour and you can visit the store and onsite bar. They offer a 3 and 4 rum sampling. I wanted to make a purchase and found it nice I could hit the bar up first to try before I buy. I picked up a bottle of the Amber Rum.
After Bacardi's departure from Nassau John Watling is one of the only local distillers left in the Bahamas (besides Commonwealth Brewery). It's great they are keeping the tradition alive.

Took the tour recently and it was fine; just walked in, by myself, didn't need to be part of an organized "foodie tour." Not a lot of detail provided about the rum production, possibly because no sugar cane is grown nearby -- so ingredients are sourced from other Caribbean locations. The best part was the bar at the end, where you can get a truly tasty cocktail and then sit on the veranda, looking out to the view of the lighthouse in the distance. It was quiet and lovely; a much-needed respite from the cruise-ship tourists shopping downtown or partying on Junkaroo beach. No loud music -- just you, your cocktail, and the view. The distillery was the best part of my trip to Nassau.

We were given samples of frozen Pina Coladas which were very tasty. The tour guide showed us how the distillery worked and how it came into being. A nice change from the usual winery tours. Tour guide was well informed and did an excellent presentation. Bar tender and hostess were friendly and made us feel welcome.
