“Where did these people learn to make Chinese?”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

I can't believe this has gotten ANY decent reviews! The soups are ok - but only ok. the wonton is badly lacking in flavor and the hot and sour is very thin with undercooked bamboo and no meat. We chose Moo Goo Gai Pan and a Garlic Chicken which turned out to be fried and nearly sauceless. The Moo Goo vegetable were ok but tasted a bit like the chicken which was BAD! I don't know if it was canned or what but it tasted horrible and left a bad aftertaste. I had a couple of bites and threw the rest out. The garlic chicken was better but very sweet - it was more like an overly sweet sesame chicken (but without the sesame) and had no veggies at all. Each entree cam with a box of rice. The fried had no resemblance to any fried rice I've ever had and the white was dry and clumpy. I know that meals in Nassau are generally expensive but spend your dollars elsewhere. This chinese disaster cost $49 for two soups and two entrees. I would never return.

At Wok N Roll our goal is to provide each Guest with a dining experience that will have them coming back for more. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your takeout order however I would like to respond with a few notes about our restaurant and our menu.

1. Our Chef (we only have one) is Guixong He and is from Kaiping, China. He cooks authentic Cantonese cuisine as well as the "Bahamian/American" Chinese dishes which are best-sellers here in Nassau.
2. In regards to the Chicken used, we only use Boneless Chicken Breast in our dishes and this is sliced and marinated daily. I am not sure how the Chicken could be perceived as canned but ours certainly is not.
3. In regards to the Hot & Sour Soup, the bamboo shoots are from a can (as are all bamboo shoots used in this type of soup) and thus is pre-cooked so I am not sure how you can say it is "undercooked". The soup is cooked with thin slices of meat, and we apologize if you did not receive any in yours.
4. In regards to the "Garlic Chicken" you refer to, the correct name per our menu is "Honey Garlic Chicken" which clearly is described as "Lightly breaded chicken breast in a savory sauce". This is a classic Americanized Chinese dish. As our Chef accommodates most special requests, had you wanted "Garlic Chicken" which would suggest non-breaded non-fried chicken, we could have easily accommodated your request even though it is not on our menu.
5. Lastly, we took the liberty to look up your order which we found was placed on September 4th and consisted of the exact items you mention, however the total of the order was $37.35 not the $49 stated in your review. This would consist of the Wonton Soup 3.95. Hot & Sour Soup 4.50, Moo Goo Gai Pan 14.95 and Honey Garlic Chicken 13.95.

We welcome all feedback as it can only help us to improve and we hope that Tripadvisor readers will also read the many positive reviews which are truly representative of our restaurants food quality and the type of dining experience and service you can expect at Wok N Roll.

Sincerely,
Lana Lee Brogdon

“Excellent service = Excellent experience”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

The staff @ your restaurant are committed to excellence and provided our group an outstanding affair. This was the best service experience I have had in a long while.
Not to mention that the food and drinks prepared for us were divine, especially the appetizers. The crab rangoons called for second helpings.
This was not our first visit with you and it will certainly not be our last if you continue hiring and training such individuals to "WOW" the customers!

“A pleasant surprise”
Reviewed September 1, 2013

When we arrived in Nassau to find this gem of a restaurant. The food was outstanding, you must try the prawn crackers. Walter, our waiter, both times we went was friendly and very knowledge about the food. He also made the drinks for the table and they were perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Chinese food

“our best dining experience on the island”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

We were staying at a timeshare in Cable Beach and wanted to find good restaurants (for the few times we were eating out at night) within walking distance, as there were 5 of us in our family and we weren't renting a car. A local recommended several places, including Wok N Roll, which was perfect since our boys are suckers for Chinese food.

We LOVED Wok N Roll! There were plenty of menu options to choose from, and everything was cooked fresh to order and delivered to our table pretty quickly. My husband and I shared a 50-ounce Bahama Mama (that made walking back a bit interesting) and we had a great time chatting with the waiter and manager. We ended up standing around talking about our neck of the woods in Virginia and just generally chatting away with them for several minutes after our meal was over. The service was attentive and very friendly throughout; they're a personable bunch. My boys wanted to go back, and we would have if the fridge in our villa wasn't so well-stocked.

The food was delicious and the service blew away every other place on the island we went to (as opposed to the fish fry, where we waited forever just to order drinks). All in all, a great and fun experience. If we go back to Nassau, we will be going back to Wok N Roll!

Thank you for taking the time to write this awesome review! The team at Wok N Roll enjoyed having you visit and we hoped you would have returned before you left Nassau! We are happy you enjoyed Chef Hong's freshly prepared food and our exceptional service. At Wok N Roll, we aim to exceed our Guests expectations and are glad we were successful in doing so on your visit. Be sure to stop by for another 50oz tropical specialty drink...you've had the "Gussie Mae" (our version of the "Bahama Mama"), next time you'll have to have to try a "Tidal Wave" or "Jolly Buddha"!
