“great value”

We had never visited the Bahamas before and were delighted to have been introduced to this opportunity to sample some great local food. Hotel food on vacation soon gets dull and samey but the Bahamas Food Adventures introduced us to some great dishes locally prepared and allowed us to get a true flavor of the Bahamas. It was a really convivial atmosphere and great value for what we got and very well organized - if we come back to the Bahamas we would definitely try
one of the other tours - highly recommended and great value !

“small and intimate tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 26, 2012

This was the highlight of our short visit to Nassau last week. Nia and Barry could not have been better hosts. They incorporated local knowledge, fun, history and amazing food. We normally don't do tours because you end up feeling like you're being hearded around like cattle - but not on this one. Nia and Barry keep it small intimate and above all very entertaining. Thanks again guys.

“Fun group tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

The belly full tour was lots of fun. We've cruised to Nassau many times but were celebrating a family reunion with quite a few first timers and thought that this would be an interesting thing to do. It ended up being so much more than we imagined. We were picked up from the port and shuttled off to the first stop for traditional Bahamian breakfast of souse and homemade coconut breads and pastries. Next we visited Charlie's place for brown fish and grites. We were entertained by chef demos and treated to colorful local stories by the restaurant owners at each of the 6 places we visited. All of the foods we sampled were delicious but we all agreed that getting to actually meet and talk with the local restaurant owners and staff was the highlight of the tour. Thanks Nia and crew for a fantastic time.

“An absolute delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

The evening food tour was an absolute delight. I know my way round Nassau and its restaurants reasonably well, but I had two friends that I wanted to show round, and I was in any case curious to see what was on offer.

It could hardly have been a better evening. We were picked up from our hotel, and the first stop won my heart with a cocktail demonstration from the accomplished barman at Poop Deck West, followed by an excellent conch salad and -- in case one starter wasn't enough -- a mound of conch fritters. Then off to Luciano's for some excellent fish; then an impromptu tour of Paradise Island because one of the party wanted a look at the Ocean Club; and finally back out west to excellent guava duff and coffee at Compass Point.

So far, so good; but what really made the evening was Nia's escort. She's a real delight: charming, attentive, knowledgeable, and -- best of all -- knows the staff at all the restaurants, and brings out the best in them.

Thoroughly recommended as an evening, both to newcomers and to old Nassau hands.
