Booked this for 2 nights last minute at a good rate. The grounds are dated, clean but old. Our room was on the first floor, it was adequate and I would not stay again. The staff was nice, but in need of a little more hospitality training when the concierge is not on duty. The beach across the road was nice, few people on it but had an abandoned beach cafe bar on it, which really does not add to a good feeling on vacation. The beds were poor, which did not help sleep at all. It is a 5 minute ride by bus to the Cable beach resorts which were more lively. We did walk to a great restaurant a bout a 1/3 mile away. In summary, the place was ok, but needs investment and a make over.

Room Tip: ask for a renovated room?

I loved my recent vacation at Sandyport. I had read all of the reviews on line discussing that the resort was dated and in need of cleaning, etc, but honestly for what I and my traveling companions were looking for this location was perfect. Our unit was super comfortable for 4 grown adults. We woke up every morning and watched the sun come up over the lagoon. We picked the perfect time to visit too since we often felt like we had the place to ourselves. In fact we spent one rainy day just hanging out on the pier over the ocean. Really and truly lovely!
Chef Cleveland is a rock star! His meal was excellent and I highly recommend utilizing his services while you are there. Lady Sara is wonderful as well and extremely knowledgeable about her city. The Sunday morning orientation was very helpful and the shuttle bus to the grocery store helps when shopping for a weeks worth of groceries. As for the restaurants within walking distance of the resort, yes to Twisted Lime. The food is great, albeit pricey, but you are paying for the convenience of walking to your restaurant. I wouldn't waste time with a walk to the super expensive restaurant across and down the street. The ocean view didn't make up for the poor quality of the food. You are better off spending the buck twenty five on a jittney ride to the Fish Fry. Overall a wonderful week here and we are already planning our return trip!

We spent a week over the Christmas holiday at Sandyport. The resort is tired but clean. Some of the rooms have been updated, but overall the pool and facilities are battered and in need of updating. Specifically we found the beds to be terrible and prevented us from getting a good nights sleep. Management is aware of the issue but has not yet invested in new furniture. The same can be said of much of the furniture in the rooms and around the facility. Finally we were surprised by the lack of activities and equipment to use the beach and nearby canals. Even the tennis court is challenged by a 15 degree slant. Overall the staff is friendly but the resort has seen better times and it shows across the board.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the canal have a nice view.

We had a great time. The staff was excellent in taking care of our needs. They helped us book excursions and provided a couple of their own which were reasonably priced vs others we booked. They also have onsite dinners provided by Chef Cleveland which were absolutely delicious. The outside bar was great too.

We stayed here one night each, going and coming from a trip to Eleuthera. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived early on the first leg of the trip and got us into a room very quickly. Our three kids loved the setting, with its colorful pastel buildings, quiet atmosphere and picturesque canals. The pool is small, but perfect. My kids had it to themselves most of the time and loved the low-key water slide. Chef Cleveland, who operates the Hot Spot on the beach, made us a lovely first-night dinner of Bahamian grouper, marinated in rum and secret spices, fried plantains and outrageous corn. He also made our breakfast the next morning and won the kids over completely with his friendliness and willingness to take on some chef apprentices. We got a two bedroom suite with jacuzzi and a very nice kitchenette. We tried the Twisted Lime nearby (walking distance) and liked the pizza and gyros; the Spritz restaurant was a great place for lunch--fantastic calamari; and the News Cafe is a nice spot for a cappuccino and bagel smothered in smoked salmon, capers, tomato and red onion--yum! The resort is close to the airport and convenient to the regular jitneys that run into downtown Nassau. Very easy to navigate, tranquil and friendly place.

We are currently staying here to see out the new year and to attend the Junkanoo parade. This is not a 5 star resort but is more then adequate with friendly staff a lagoon and great facilities . It's perfect for families and people on a budget who want to self cater. There is a well equipped kitchen for all your cooking needs. It's also not that far from the main spots. You will need to hire a car as with anywhere in the Bahamas.

We are a small swim club in Abaco (Northern Bahamas) and whenever we travel to Nassau for meets, this is where we stay!! The rooms are clean and cozy and there's nothing the kids enjoy more than hanging out after the meet at the pool!!!

We stay in groups in their double and triple suites and the staff are always helpful and accommodating when we are here! Many of them remember us by name which makes it feel more personal than a "regular" hotel.

We will be back shortly for more meets - and again for Nationals in June 2014!!!
