I like this beach the best out of all the beaches I visited so far in the Bahamas. It doesn't seem too busy and the waves are a little more intense here. A good beach for everyone. Drinks available, chairs available.

The entry to this beach was a little hard to find because there is a sign that says it is private property for Atlantis. Ignore that sign and walk through the fences next to the Riu Hotel anyway. Much like others have stated, this beach is quite crowded with lots of locals trying to sell drinks, hair braiding, massages, and rides on boats/jet skis. If you're looking for any of those things then you're in for a treat! If not, it's a little obnoxious.

After being asked multiple times if we wanted to ride jet skis or go snorkeling, I finally caved. The man agreed to charge us $50 ($40 for my boyfriend and $10 for me since I wasn't going to snorkel) to take us to an island 10-15 minutes away, just the two of us, where there were lots and lots of fish. He said he would leave us there for an hour and come back to get us when the hour was up. That man walked away, and about 5 minutes later another man arrived and took us (and three other people) to a bay at the end of the beach. We could have walked there in 15 minutes, so we asked him about the agreement we made with the other man (Charlie) and he said this was the place. We got off, unwilling to argue. Although it was gorgeous, there were little to no fish, no coral, and nothing really to see as far as snorkeling goes. We took some pictures and enjoyed ourselves, but figured that there was no reason we should pay $50 for a two minute boat ride that took us to the same part of the beach we were already on. That being said, we began walking back after being there for about 25 minutes, uninterested in waiting for the boat to come back and get us. We tried to find Charlie or the man who dropped us off but no one could be found. Thankfully, we hadn't paid prior to getting dropped off so we just left the beach no worse off than we were when we arrived. If not for this experience, the scenery was lovely, water beautiful, and sand amazing. We enjoyed the calmness of Goodman's Bay far more and probably wouldn't return to Cabbage Beach because it was not a very relaxing or peaceful experience.

Family and I had a pretty good time. We did encounter locals trying to sell us things, such as shirts, braiding hair, chair rentals, etc.... they are like voltures. We did have an opportunity to take pictures, it was a beutiful beach for it to be public. We did run across a local named Patrick. He was very friendly and not pushy with trying to get us on jet skis. He made us a wonderful deal for 1/2 hour. That was more than enough for the three of us as the water and waves can beat you up pretty good and depending on how fast you go across water. I personally was sore the next morning. Patrick did leave his name and number to call him next time we come down so we can personally deal with him. We did run across some other vendors getting into a little argument about who customer it was trying to rent another jet ski. It seems pretty competitive for tourist business. Patrick stepped in and immediately broke up the situation that was happening. If you can find some peace and quiet from the locals it will be a miracle. Overall the beach was beautiful, pictures of the ocean and nearby hotels are great. Water was cold, but it was january. I would visit again next time that i am in nassau.
There is also another beach a few miles away, but did not see any watersport vehicles just local restaurants and no swimming was allowed.

We were 25 people in 5 families who spent the day at the beach after getting off the Carnival Miracle on January 5th. We were there from 11am to 4pm.

The water was beautiful, the beach was gorgeous. My 12 year old spent all 5 hours in the water.

The beach has vendors offering water sports, hair braiding and best of all coconut rum drinks.

We have cruised to Nassau 3 times and continue to visit Cabbage beach on our port day.

LOVE IT!
