“Take a chance”

As always our experience maybe different than yours. I have stayed in some pretty bad locations in all my years of travel, so saying that, I have stayed in worse. We stayed next door at the Nassau Palm Resort five years ago and it is almost the same- location is in the center of town and very close to everything - we walked everywhere including on the back road into the island ( not recommended for everyone) The fish dry and straw market are within walking distance - the staff in wonderful everyone was willing to help and answer questions - had a security guard every night - best rate any hotel $79 a night. However if your into clean rooms and new bathroom this place is not for you- this is budget hotel, old and run down - the staff was always painting and fixing stuff so at least they are trying - over all this is a 1.5 star on its way to a 2 star. It is also right across from the Junkanoo Beach. The hotel has a restaurant and a bar with pretty good food an drinks. The staff at the hotel and bar make it worth a try.

I don't have extremely high standards for motels, and I've stayed in cheap motels before, but this was definitely the worst by far. We stayed in two different rooms for one night each at the beginning and end of our trip to the Bahamas.

First room on 6th floor:
The first room size was small, but fine. The downsides were the toilet wasn't cleaned and there was only one light in the room so 80% of the space was in darkness. We walked down the outside steps to the street, and found that the gate at the bottom was locked. Good luck escaping in the event of a fire.

Second room on 3rd floor.
On our second stay, the front desk could not make change for the $15.50 fee they charge on arrival (they didn't have enough $1 bills), so instead of the hotel being out the money until they could make change, WE had to go back the next day and ask for our change. They didn't provide a remote for our room, the room only had one towel, and guests are charged if they don't return the remote when leaving and if there are any missing towels. To get this resolved, we had to go to the front desk twice. Incompetent staff and generally terrible service.

The only good feature is the location. It's close to a beach and the fish fry. I wouldn't walk alone in this part of this city at night, though. We were approached by a man trying to sell something (cigars? drugs?) and there are a lot of police patrolling right outside.

Room Tip: The higher the better and on the non-pool/beach side to avoid the sound of music blasting from the p...

I spent 2 nights there. I had read previous reviews and was expecting 2 stars. The staff was awesome and friendly, although communicating with them was often difficult due to the ever present music blasting on a nearby radio. Our first room was a tiny 1 star old tired and very musty. It held a single queen bed with hardly room to negotiate around it, and no room to place a full size luggage bag. The small window did look to the beach if you held your head right and squinted a little. While hunting the single rusty ice machine my wife noticed many unoccupied larger rooms with mini-balconies and double full beds. The staff was eager to move us and took care of everything while we went out to dinner. The second room was the total opposite with fresh paint, fresh clean aroma, an updated tv and wonderful view. The only drawbacks were the music from the pool but it was good island tunes and it ended at a reasonable hour, and a cockroach that appeared on my pillow the second night. Also an unavoidable annoyance was the construction hammering and saws from a building renovation next door. It started at sun up. Signs of improvement but still annoying. The pool area was recently remodeled and the landscaping was clean and cared for. The WIFI internet was weak in most locations I tried to use it and nearly unusable. Using the computers in the bar was troublesome too as they were glitchy and required passwords to use (refer to communication issue above). The restaurant/bar is fairly priced, clean and the food is good. The hotel is well located within easy walking distance to the "Fish Fry" and the Straw Market. There are also a few forts nearby. The Junkanoo beach across the road is decent, with food, drinks and chairs for rent. I recommend this hotel. It is a value and well located. I am use to waterfront hotels in tropical areas and few hotels are immune to smells, mildew and "Pets". Be tolerant, express your concerns and the 5 star staff will work to address them and you will enjoy your trip.

Room Tip: Beach or pool view rooms (North view) are large with large sliding doors that open to a security ra...

Hotel is a great price, close to downtown, beach and even some local outings. Staff is very helpful, polite and professional. I would definitely go again and recommend! Rooms were very clean and if you need anything extra, the ladies would bring it right away. When my plans were destroyed by an unreliable source, the lady at the front desk quickly found something for me to do and booked it right away. Thank God for that because I enjoyed myself so much!

The only highlight of this place is the location. The service at the desk was as expected, but the restaurant and bar was poor. The room was ok. The bar seems to cater more to locals than guests, and if you're there over the weekend, being some earplugs because they crank the music until two or three in the morning.

Had a 4 night stay in February. The staff was very nice and amicable. The hotel room was clean as was to be expected for the price. Originally the room I reserved was not available, but was put in the room I requested the next day. The Double room #503 is not as nice as the ocean view room of #409. The free wifi seemed to work better in #503 than in #409, but was accessible downstairs in the reception area and bar. The bar/restaurant was reasonable in price. I had the stewed fish which was very good. The location is very ideal as you are short 5 minute walk to the Fish Fry and about a 10 minute walk to Downtown, as well as the Junkanoo Beach is right across the street. The beach is a nice retreat and is hit or miss as too having a lot of people, all depends on whether the cruise boats are in. For the price I would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Room facing the ocean obviously provide the best view.

Was very pleased as the hotel staff went "the extra mile" to make my stay comfortable. We had some special requirements, and they were taken care of before we arrived which was awesome. The room was clean, the shower had plenty of hot water, and the bed had fresh linens changed daily. The hotel is undergoing some renovation, but that was not an issue in any way. The in room WiFi worked great and was a plus. Junkanoo Beach, right across W.Bay St. is much improved in the last few years, and we went there every day. Fish Fry, downtown shops, and most other fun places are within walking distance--and the jitney stop is very close if you want to explore the island that way. We have stayed at other budget hotels in Nassau and this property was the best deal by far.
