“Close to Downtown”

Nice beach with local flair. Plenty of food, drink and chair rentals. Cruise ships are within sight but beach is usually missed by the crowds. Not the prettiest but a nice beach. Vendors close early.

“Local flavor.”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

A good beach with plenty of amenities and local flair. Cruise Ships are with in sight but tends to attract more locals than tourists. A little worn.

“Stopped at Nassau on Disney Cruise Feb 2013”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

We walked to the beach and let our two kids (who are 7&9) take off their sandals and walk into the water. After doing so, I took a better look at the sand, and realized it was covered with broken glass... and I mean COVERED with glass. There were pieces everywhere along with other stuff. i agree with the post that this beach is really Junk. I didn't expect a beach like Castaway Cay however for the amount of tourism that is here I think they could do a better a job of at least keeping the beach safe. We put our sandals back on and left.

“Nice Free Shore Excursion”

A quick walk from your cruise ship this beach will have you swimming way before everyone who paid mega bucks at Atlantis. We did not experience any glass or trash on the beach, but this is a popular place and I could see how it could get trashed easily during peak season. Water is clear and the sand is naturally rocky in this area. If you have gear or wish to rent you can snorkel as well. For small kids its a great alternative to the commercialized beach operations. Rent a cheap beach chair and towels for less then $20 and have a great authentic lunch at one of the snack shacks. Our friends (family of 4) spent $500 for Atlantis and had hamburgers for lunch, we ate jerk chicken, conch and local fish for less then $30 and had more then enough to feast for five! Your in the Bahamas and this is pretty much as authentic as you can get for Nassau!
