“Fantastic Day!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2014

A sailing company left us high ad dry so we opted for some nature and history instead. They picked us up and whisked us off to the park about 20 minutes from Breezes. Because another large group was there, they gave us the option of visiting one of their 4 beaches. We chose the closest one which turned out to be a very romantic private beach with a large cabana. Spent an hour and a half snorkeling and enjoying the beach. They checked on us a few times to make sure we didn't need anything. They picked us up and took us on a walking tour of the slave house ruins and the Indian steps. Tour was about 45 minutes long and the staff are very knowledgeable. Next, they served us huge burgers with fries for lunch. After, they took us to all the other beaches which include "Jaws" Beach and "Flipper" Beaches. Both of these were the filming spots for the movies (original Jaws from the 70s and 80s Flipper). We opted to return to our "private" beach and spent another hour and a half canoodling in the surf alone.

Overall, a great place to visit. They are still experiencing growing pains but worth the trip if you want the chance at a private beach in paradise!

“Escape from the shopping areas”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014

Clifton Heritage National Park is definitely worth a visit. A taxi will get you there for approximately 40 dollars, and you can walk back along a rather long road to Lyford Cay where the bus takes you back to the hotels in Nassau.
The peacefulness and clarity of the water is remarkable. Bring your snorkel and mask! It has a fantastic marine life and wonderful beaches just waiting to be enjoyed. However, be aware there may be some litter = broken bottles, so be careful when walking into the water. For photographers it's quite beautiful, and it's easy to fill up a memory card. You should not encounter many people until you reach the Clifton Bay, where you can get soda and something to eat. This is also where you find most of the people you meet in the area.

“Wow, a hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2014

We took a long ride on scotters from the ship ports in Nassau to visit and it was well worth it. Secluded away from the normal tourist traps, this park is rich in history, scenery, and a great educational and relaxing experience. We didn't explore nearly as much as we would have liked but plan to visit again next time we are on the island. Friendly staff was eager to explain the park and alow us to explore on our own without any pressure or inteference. Well worth the nominal charge to access the park and its beaches.

“Worth the drive”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2014

This is place on the western side of New Providence that is worth exploring. There is the historical side of it seeing the old slave homes and going on the walk. There is some history to read so that's cool.

There is also just the beach side of it. Flipper Beach is a little walk but one of the hidden beach gems on the whole island!!!

The lookout point is pretty special too. It's a good place to spend the afternoon and just get away from the bustle of Nassau town.

“My favourite spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2014

I have visited several times and always enjoy it. There is a $10 charge I think which covers a little tour of the remains of the plantation slave quarters and the big house. It's not much to look at but the guides do have some good stories and you may see some wildlife too. Afterwards there is a trail to walk and some largely empty rocky beaches where you can play at being shipwrecked. There's also a wreck that you can snorkel round (plane from a James Bond movie I think), and finally you get to the beach where Jaws 3 was filmed.
There's a small gift shop, a BBQ on Saturdays and nice clean aircon restrooms.
The only negative is the nearby oil refinery which I believe has fairly frequent crude leakages.
