“Excellent Holiday”
Reviewed November 22, 2013

My wife and i arrived on the 5th November for 2 weeks and were greeted with a 3 hour wait for our room but eventually got this sorted i did complain i think only because we were tired after a long flight but the rest of the holiday was perfect. The Staff were very nice and the food you could not ask for better. The resort itself is very clean and the entertainment is also good We were upgraded to the 5th floor sea view which had fantastic sea views and Sandra Rolls did all she could to help us out we stayed in a garden room 1117 only slight problem was when you called room service it did take a little time to come "Would i stay again" yes The facilities with the water sports which also are all free are good and the beaches are nice also if you want to go to the offshore island the boat runs every hour. Many thanks for making our holiday special

Room Tip: ask for an upgrade if possible to sea view

Our fifth time at a Sandals (and first at the Royal Bahamian) was a wonderful time. It's a larger Sandals property with it's own private island about half a mile off shore from the resort's beach. Although it is close enough to see, you still have to take a boat there...and they don't shuttle to it if the wind and waves are a bit rough. Of the six days we spent there, four were deemed 'too rough to sail' and we were forced to wonder what that island was like. During those four days, we spent time at the Red Lane Spa (I highly recommend the couples massage), poolside (several large pools and three 'pseudo-private' smaller pools), and enjoyed several of the restaurants. When the conditions allowed for us to go to the private island, we found it to be a prototypical white sand Caribbean beach. It is peaceful and relaxed. The restaurant and bar are decent. If you've stayed at a Sandals, you already know that you can count on a certain level of quality...well manicured grounds, luxurious touches, smiling friendly people. This particular Sandals has all of that and more.

Room Tip: The Royal Village is far enough away from the main buildings to allow for quiet relaxation near the...

This was our 6th stay at a Sandals resort, 1st in the Bahamas. We purposely booked at a Sandals resort for the outstanding accommodations, gourmet dining and impeccable service we have come to expect. However the a Royal Bahamian was a great disappointment. The accommodations at the Balmoral Towers, club level with concierge was new and large. The housekeeping twice daily was outstanding. The meals were excellent. The off shore island was amazing with pristine beaches. My husband and friends we travelled with were amazed by the scuba diving. There were sharks, turtles, moray eels, groupers, shipwrecks which made for the best diving experience ever! The diving staff were excellent.
Despite these positive experiences were all over shadowed by the lack of warmth and attention to personal service. This is the main reason we will never return to this resort. It is not indicative of the Sandals experience at all. The concierge service was appalling. We were never able to reach them by phone and had to line up for service. Every time we made a request or inquiry we were made to feel we were inconveniencing them. Some staff at the Balmoral did not even respond to a 'Good morning' initiated by us. When I requested cutlery at breakfast the first day I received a response of 'uh-huh' then never received them so I got them myself. Each morning except for one, we had to request coffee multiple times. The service was sorely lacking.
However there were a few outstanding staff who went out of their way to assist us and who obviously took their positions seriously and took pride in a job well done. We will always be thankful for server Prenasha at Casanova, Moral at Bacaraat, Carleton at Spices and especially to Latoysha at breakfast. They made our stay special and the only reason we did not totally give up on Sandals altogether. They should be commended for outstanding service.
Management at the Royal Bahamian need to take a close look at the quality of service provided. We were not alone in our views during this stay. There must be a re-vamping of the way service is delivered at this resort to ensure the Sandals standard is upheld.

We went here for our 1st anniversary and it was everything we expected and wanted. There were plenty of things to see and do on the resort and off the resort. We enjoyed the private island which had some great snorkeling just off the beach. One server we had - Moral was one of the highlights of our trip, he was friendly, informative and just a blast to talk too. We are glad that we went to this resort for our anniversary and we will be going back soon.

Room Tip: Spend a little more money to get a full Ocean view room.

My husband and I went to SRB for 8 nights on our honeymoon and it was amazing! We had traveled to Sandals La Toc in St Lucia a few years ago on vacation and enjoyed our experience which is what led us to select this property for our honeymoon.

We booked a room with butler service as a treat to ourselves for our honeymoon so when we arrived we had a private transfer to the resort from the airport. When we arrived we met one of our butlers who told us we had the opportunity to upgrade our room. We originally had booked in the royal village and we were shown that room first. If we hadn't been upgraded this room would have been very nice. It was set back from where most of the restaurants and the main pools are but it was right next to a small hot tub and pool. We were then taken to a larger suite on the second floor of the Windsor building. We chose to take the upgrade as the suite was much larger, centrally located, and had a beautiful view of the pool and ocean off the large balcony. This room was also right next to where they were doing updates and construction in the Windsor building, this did not disrupt our experience at all. Whatever they were doing wasn't noisy and the only thing we noticed was a security guard sitting in the hallway making sure no one went down there.

Our butlers made reservations for us before we arrived so we were able to eat at all of the restaurants. Every meal we ate on this trip was incredible. We loved the experience of eating on the island, the atmosphere was very romantic and we had a table with a nice view of the water. We also enjoyed eating at the Crystal Room and Baccarat as well as Gordon's on the Pier. We also ate at the returning guests dinner which was very nice.

We went to the island three of the days we were there and really enjoyed it. The far side was a little windy and rocky to get into the water, but we had a great time exploring and snorkeling. The side that faced the resort was good for swimming and sunbathing. We got a couples massage one day and it was so relaxing to hear the sounds of the waves as we were massaged. We really liked it there because it was quiet, secluded and romantic.

At night we enjoyed listening to the musicians that played by the fire pits, but if you want to actually sit at a fire pit you have to get there early, we mostly sat up by the bar because we didn't get there soon enough. We also enjoyed going to the piano bar a few nights but that can get repetitive because everyone always wants to hear the same songs. We saw a few shows, most of them were the staff dancing and they were pretty good. One night they had a show that was listed as a magician in the activities schedule but he was more of a mind reader kind of show, he was very cool! My husband and I like to party and that was the only downside to this resort. It seemed that everyone went to bed around 11. We were very lucky that we met a few other couples that wanted to stay out late too, otherwise we would have been at the bar in the pub by ourselves.

We went downtown one day to do some shopping at the straw market and eat at the fish fry. It was a little crowded because of all the cruise ships that were in port, but we enjoyed walking around and purchasing souvenirs. We walked to the fish fry and ate at the Twin Brothers. We also went to the Atlantis for the day to see the aquarium. We both thought that it wasn't worth the $90 for both of us to see. We also didn't like that there were security guards everywhere turning us around and telling us that we weren't allowed to go places. Atlantis itself is huge and it seemed nice but it wasn't for us. We were happy when we made the money we spent on the aquarium back in the casino.

It was really hard for us to leave because this was such an amazing trip and a beautiful resort. I would definitely recommend SRB to anyone who likes good service, great food, beautiful surroundings, and fun times.

My husband and I spent our 5 year anniversary at SRB, and I have to say, it was amazing. We were hesitant at first about going because of the mixed reviews, but I'm glad we decided to go. The resort is beautiful. Everything was remarkably clean and well-kept. The food was abundant and delicious. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a Sandals representative at the airport and minutes later our car arrived. We had the opportunity to ride in a Rolls Royce to the resort even though it was only a 10 minute drive. Our driver was very friendly and informative. Check-in was a breeze. As soon as we got to the hotel, it started to rain, which I thought was going to ruin our vacation. But as our wise butler said, "Never believe the weather forecast in the Bahamas". According to the forecast, it was suppose to rain the whole week we were there, but all we saw was sunshine and a nice breeze. It was a bit windy in the early evening, but relaxing in front of the fire pit and jumping in the hot tub made up for it. We stayed at the penthouse honeymoon suite at the Balmoral Tower. The view is breathtaking. The room looks exactly what you see on the website. It's not a very large room, and tub is pretty small, but that didn't bother us at all. They also did a good job stocking our bar and fridge with the drinks we requested. They didn't have the Malibu Rum I requested but Dhillon assured me that hey had ordered it and it will be delivered as soon as it arrives and sure enough the following day, it was there.
The offshore island was nice. Make sure to reserve the cabana by Red Lane Spa facing the ocean. It's very private. Entertainment was fun and they did a great job with the shows and performances. We enjoyed the Junkanoo party very much. We dined at most of the restaurants, but our favorite was Gordon's. Make sure to ask for their signature drink, the "caribbean moose". It's yummy! Our next favorite would be Amore, which was the private dinner on the beach. We loved our server, Scott. He did an excellent job. We had the late 9:00 PM reservation and since we were the last couple left, they serenaded us for our anniversary. I thought that was so sweet of them. It was a nice icing on the cake. We ate at Spices' for breakfast and we loved the pizza place for lunch! We also had 24 hour room service, so we had days where we had breakfast in bed and late nights snacks too.
We spent a day downtown to shop for souvenirs and to check out some of the local spots. The Bahamians are very friendly and wonderful. We felt very safe. Get ready to bargain at straw market. Downtown can get a little crowded especially when the cruise ship ports. We also went to Fish Fry and ate at Twin Brothers. Spent a day at Atlantis. The water park was fun but it was crowded and loud. I would say Atlantis is a place for family, but if you want peace and quiet, then SRB is the place. We enjoyed ourselves at Atlantis, but couldn't wait to get back to our hotel. You can purchase a day pass at Sandals and catch the #10 bus downtown and ride the ferry or taxi to Paradise Island. A bus ride downtown is about $1.25-$1.50 per person. We took the bus downtown and rode a cab to Atlantis and paid $11. We took a cab home from Atlantis to Sandals which was about $20.00. If you don't want to worry about transportation, there's a tour to Atlantis you can purchase in the resort where they provide transportation. The downfall is, I think you have to catch the bus by 5 PM to return to the hotel.
One thing that really stood out the most for my husband and I was definitely the quality of service they provided. The staff are so friendly, courteous, and helpful. Always greeted us with a smile. Plus, we had the pleasure of meeting 3 of the best butlers in SRB, Antonio, Everett, and Dhillon. They are simply the best! They booked all our dinner reservations with some last minute changes too because we decided to have dinner on the beach and they were able to accommodate it. The surprises they left everyday in the room, the cute animals they made from folded towels, the never ending drinks, and the best spots reserved in the beach and everything else we asked for, we got with a smile. They anticipated all our needs. All three had different characters, but they made our memorable. Make sure to ask for them!
My husband and I are in our mid 30's and we like to have fun and we also like to chill, relax and just unwind. I believe you can have it all at SRB. The only downfall of this trip is I wish we could've stayed longer. This was our first Sandals trip and definitely will not be our last. We will definitely come back to SRB!!!

We went here for our honeymoon, and could not have asked for a more relaxing experience. The property was well maintained, and the food was excellent. The staff was very accommodating for special dietary requests.

Charlie at Cassanovas was fantastic, he carved a kiwi for my wife to go with an apple tart since she was not able to have the other deserts on the menu. It was an excellent experience.
