A great way to elope. We recommend taking the upgrades when offered at a discount; they make the experience worth the extra $. Private butlers are a treat, especially Perez and Dillon offer a service that equals true professionalism and luxury.

Spend lots of time on the offshore island. Cabanas are limited but if you have butler service they will reserve and leave towels too. Ask them for a stocked cooler and a fruit cheese tray and you'll be set for the day. Lots of loungers on both sides on all beaches.

One of the main buildings (Manor) is under construction and is slated to be done March 2011. This means some construction noise when on main island beach and one pool is affected (still open but a bit less appealing). This building also houses the Fitness Facilities, so if these are important don't book until later April and on.
It is truly a couples resort. Singles and teens seemed bored and out of place.
Rooms in Windsor building are clean and well kept. Fridge was supplied whenever we asked.
The Royal Village rooms are a bit dark and dank. Need some TLC. This area is off the beaten path and very quiet.

We did get a few sand flea bites - stay away from seaweed when tide is out as it appears this is their home.

Downtown Nassau is a bit tired and too touristy, Strawmarket definitely overpriced.

RESTAURANTS on resort:
Cassanova - Italian.cosy.tasty
Crystal Room and Baccarat - Dining are touted as high end but they aren't quite up to par. Food is good but not exceptional. Service is hit and miss
Spices-buffet service - great for breakfast or lunch
Gordons on Pier - overrated, food is good but small overdecorated portions - and limited options for vegetarians
PIZZA place good, fresh, nice variety

Thinking of being MARRIED? DO IT HERE!!! They make it easy, taking care of details and all said and done pretty well in line with costs. They make it smooth. Word of warning- photography is pricey.

Room Tip: If you want quiet do not take poolside.Don't be shy and ask to see different rooms until you'...

Visited here in 2009 The problem with this place was that the service was just okay. Some staff were trained and others were a disaster Bar tenders by pool were miserable and not enouh help. Food good not great. Fun piano bar at night. Forget about getting a seat at the pool unless u have a butler or get up at 7am like we did to put towels on chairs. Stay away from private island in evening. People got off the boat with welts. During the day my favorite place. The boat ride over to the island was great. You get a drink as u come off the boat. Just be prepared to wait at the little food joint if u want food or drink. It took a half hour just to get a drink. All ages. You will see young peeps with tatoos. couples and a mix of young and old. Reservations for dinner need to made Prior to ur trip. Bummer. Missed all the good restaurants.

We read all the reviews before we left and were a little apprehensive based on the significant investment that we made on this vacation.

All of our doubts were well put to rest the second we arrived. We waited no longer than 5 minutes before we were on the way from the airport, and were greeted by a friendly bellhop to take our bags to our room and 2 warm towels to relax with.

Checking in took 10 minutes, and we were given a complimentary room upgrade as well.

The resort was extraordinarily clean and beautiful.
The food was amazing.
The people were the nicest on any vacation we've had up to this point, and we've traveled all over.

High points for us were snorkeling off the coast of Sandals Cay, the private island itself, Baccarat, Kimono's, and Spices(breakfast).

We didnt really have any complaints. Half of the resort was closed due to renovation, but they seemed to retain the same amount of staff. Everyone was eager to please and the week went out without a hitch.

I would HIGHLY recommend Sandals.

The Sandals Royal Bahamian was the perfect vacation! The weather was wonderful and the beaches picture perfect. The staff was amazing going BEYOND what they had to do to make us happy. We never asked for anything, the butlers knew what we wanted before we even needed anything. From the time we landed at the airport to the time we were dropped off the employees were so nice and caring. They made sure everyone was having a great time and that no one had any worries. Very worth the money we paid and we will definitely be back to this great resort. Thanks for the great memories Sandals!

Room Tip: The butler suites were really worth the money to get the overall experience!

I went to the Bahamas for a wedding; Most of the guess was from Miami/Ft. Lauderdale 30 of us. Everyone at Sandals was so nice and pleasant to speak to. The rooms were perfect the bar in the room was always filled with drinks, it was clean, and they had a lot of resultants to eat from. And the best conch was from Sandal others little island, a boat will take you there every 50 minutes. Everyone hosting the wedding was Amazing. Every Bar I went to was Awesome plus most of the guys found us down to earth and funny, we had Great conversation about the island. The only down side to this trip was, Am a Hennessy Black/White or Black Label drinker and the best they had was Jack Daniel’s’ so I drank a lot of wine. It’s a great resort for couples although I didn’t have my boy friend I still had a lot of FUN … We Had the Best Time Ever can’t wait for the Reunion. Oh Yeah!!! Sandals said we had one the Live-est. Wedding they hosted in the past 7 years

Room Tip: Higher floors has the best view, I stayed on the 6th floor.

i dont understand the reviews ppl are writing about this hotel.... etither sandals is paying ppl to write the reviews or ppl are just clueless...

Ive stayed at many hotels... 3, 4 & 5 stars and even a diamond hotel and this happens to be the worst...

dont get me wrong the location was beautiful... and some of the ppl friendly.. just not what i expected especially for the amount of money we paid to stay here..

i was tossing between atlantis and sandals... and i wish i had chosen the atlantis hotel.

we were almost going to checkout of Sandals early and book a room at atlantis.. thats how dissapointed we were at the hotel.

Food was below average to say the least.... and the drinks... um lets say just say not drinkable.

Night life? unfortunately no night life... but mojortity of ppl that where staying ther were honeymooners... so i guess they arent really there to socialise...

definitly not a place for couples who arent married...

Redlane Spa... definitly dont get arcrylics or gels here! i got a full set of arcylic nails for arround $80.. they didnt tell me i had to pay gratutity tax untill the end...i was so embarassed after she had finish.. for the amt of money i paid to get them done i would expect it to look beautiful... ended up ripping them off a few days later....

massage prices where definitly a rip off!

really dissapointed as this was the last leg of our vacation.. my now fiancee had planned to propose to me in the bahamas... and im glad he asked me when we were in NYC

will defintly be telling my travel agent not to recomment this place...and will NOT be recommending it to my friends..

dissatisfied customer to say the least.

The Sandals Royal Bahamian was a great introduction to the Bahamas. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, especially the Sandals staff. We arrived after 8PM on a week night, but there were people at airport, the van driver, and receiving staff all seemed happy to have us. We were given a short tour on the way to our room, which we found to be excellent. Comfortable four poster king size bed with nice firm pillows, small couch, bench coffee table, 2 wing chairs and table, and large dresser with big flat screen TV. Must admit we never watched TV except weather report and tourism channel, but had no problem with reception. Bathroom had big countertop sink across from closet in outer room and toilet and soaker tub/shower in inner room. Mini-bar had rum, vodka, whiskey, gin, red wine and white wine, along with water, juice, soda, and bottle of champagne in small refrigerator.
Our ocean view room had a small balcony overlooking gardens and if you leaned out, you could see the ocean, but we enjoyed sitting out there having a nightcap listening to the ocean waves. It was also great for coffee in the mornings with birds singing in the trees.
The grounds were all beautifully maintained, full of blooming flowers and tropical plants.
The staff was undoubtedly the best we have ever encountered, always smiling, friendly and eager to be of service. Although we liked not having to tip everyone, there were times when we wished we could have. Special thanks to Madeline on 3rd floor for bottle of wine, and the waitress lady (never learned her name unfortunately) at the pizzeria who did a great job and was so nice. The pizzeria was our favorite place to sit and people watch, and you could either get pizza to order or by the slice from warming oven. Thin crispy crust and nearly every type of topping. As far as room service, I ordered a dessert one night and it was there in less than 10 minutes! We found drinks to be very good and abundant. We enjoyed the "players" afternoon antics by the party pool, even if only as observers. Pools were a little chilly, but we're from the north and expect it. It's Ok once you've been in a bit.
We found most of the food to be very good. Our favorite was Casanova's - huge antipasto bar with all kinds of Italian meats, cheeses, veggies and salads. Good Italian entrees and several different desserts on dessert bar. We also enjoyed crab legs and prime rib at Crystal Room. The servings at Baccarat are very small - one crab cake with a squiggle of sauce - very pretty and tasty but be sure you order all the courses or you'll end up hungry.
Never got a chance to try the fish & chips at Cricketer's Pub, but the chips with blue cheese sauce were terrible - burnt chips and runny sauce that barely had a hint of blue cheese flavor. Spices had a nice breakfast buffet and Royal Cafe was good for lunch. We didn't care much for food at Kimono's, but chef put on a fun show. Took the boat to island one day and had lunch at Cafe Goombay, (very good) and explored the beaches.
We missed the Junkanoo Party on Friday night as it was our anniversary and went out for lobster, but it looked like they had lots of food and entertainment.
Although we went on a snorkeling trip, we never made it to early morning scuba classes so we went to Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas and did the personal SUB (scenic underwater bubble) dive. It was amazing!! Recommend it to anyone, well worth the $119.00 each.
Also did Atlantis tour, but found it disappointing. Nothing but a walk through the casino and the "dig" is basically an aquarium, and tour guide leaves far away from starting point and have to find your own way back.
To address some of the complaints from others, we never found the renovation noise to be very loud. We watched several weddings take place on beach near it and didn't seem to bother them at all. The fitness center is on ground floor of Windsor building near the rear while renovation going on. Ask one of the staff if you can't find it. I enjoyed walking outside the Sandals compound and seeing how Bahamians live in area and visiting the grocery store nearby for my exercise.
All in all we were very pleased with everything, felt we definitely got our money's worth, and would recommend it to anyone. (There was a mixture of young, middle, and seniors and very relaxing with NO children.)
