We stayed next door at the Sheraton but after discovering the restaurant here, we walked over most days. On Tuesday and Thursday, they have cracked conch or grouper, peas and rice and coleslaw. Great price. Lovely, the cook even made my hubby his favourite Bahamian breakfast a few mornings.....nice touch.

I would highly recommend this location. The unit I had was recently remodeled. The staff and pool area were excellent, it was located centrally in Cable beach which was easy walking distance to grocery store and some of the restaurants (try Inigoes Cafe). The only thing I didn't like was the cafe at the resort closed at 7pm sharp - it would have been nice to have it remain open until 9.

Just got back from a two week stay. When we stepped out of the cab we were welcomed with hugs from the staff who never change from year to year. Slim and Lovely at the bar who are both good cooks, Sonny-the friendliest security guy (who also blows up air mattresses, delivers luggage to your room, etc.), Donita, Valencia and Paulette in the office who will make reservations for activities and dinner reservations, call cabs answer questions. The staff that has changed is the cleaning staff on Saturdays (the big check in and check out day). The person who cleaned our room could have done a better job and if we had complained, the office would have taken care of it. They are in the process of training their cleaning staff to do a better job on Saturday when the demand is high. The maid who came in mid-week did a phenomenal job of cleaning our two bedroom, two bathroom unit. Modern kitchen with GE dishwasher, micro and full size oven. Had a few rainy days since April and May seem to be rainy season. There's loads of games and movies in the office if needed. They have a supply of "noodles" and a couple of floats for the pool that previous guests have left. We brought our own floats and Sonny blew them up for us. The staff are all friendly and their first goal is to make your stay wonderful, and it was! Across the street is a small Straw Market, with pretty much the same stuff as the larger one downtown with less expensive prices. Be sure to watch out of faded items that may have been left out in the sun too long. We don't bother to rent a car since for $1.25 you can take the #10 bus into downtown Nassau or even as far as Compass Point Restaurant, in the other direction. It would cost about $400 to rent a car for a week (and they're usually junkboxes) and the drivers are crazy and you drive on the left, so the bus makes sense. Within walking distance is a fantastic Swiss Bakery (we like the smaller one in the green strip mall, rather than the white standalone building). Croissants, cookies, apple turnovers, homemade bread. The Wyndham is 2 doors down and they have a casino. As of May 1st the tables were open, but in the first part of our stay, only the machines were available. Westwinds II offers 2 pools, a larger heated one and a smaller one unheated. The beach is right in front of Westwinds II and the view is breathtaking. You can take a walk down the beach towards Goodman's Bay and it is so interesting to watch the people staying at the Sheraton and Wyndham, jetskis and parasailers, new construction at Baha Mar, a huge resort that's being built next to the Wyndham. There is no construction noise when you're staying at Westwinds, so don't worry about that. The food at Westwinds II bar is very good. Hot dogs, hamburgers, salads, the best BLT I've ever had - there's probably about 20 things to choose from. From 4-7 is Happy Hour. Beer prices drop a dollar and tropical drinks are reduced. Try the pina colado which is placed on top of coconut rum in the glass. To die for! They also have a substantial cup of very good ice cream - about 5 choices. The grounds of Westwinds II are pristine. The pools are cleaned every morning and the landscapers make sure the grass and flowers are always beautiful and the walks are clean. There's a bathroom next to the bar with a shower in case you're too wet to go to your unit. Also a laundry room (get tokens from the office). That way you don't have to pack so many clothes. We go for two weeks twice a year and love it!

Room Tip: Try not to get in the building which houses Unit 42. When the trashman comes at 5:30 in the morning...

I visited December 2012 with my husband and 11 month old daughter. We stayed on the side with an ocean view next to the unheated pool. The pool In the back is heated. We were in the ground level unit which had two bedrooms; one queen bed and one with two twin beds. Two full bathrooms, a kitchenette and living room with a futon. The bar and grill was great for an evening appetizer and drink. The bus stop to take you into Nassau is very close (costs $1.25 per person each way). You can also take the bus (or walk 20 min) to the grocery store and have the grocery store call you a cab back. Nassau is about a 15 min bus ride away. The staff was great, very clean! Security guards patrol 24/7. This is a do it yourself type of place, no room or cleaning service, you can exchange towels yourself on given days. You can buy large 5 liter water jugs at the front desk. We booked through RCI. I would mot rent a car, have a cab arranged to get to the airport and us the public bus. We'll be back!!

Room Tip: Try to get on the ocean side.

My friends and I went down to Nassau in June of 2012 and stayed at the West Wind II for a week. We stayed in a condo located in the back of the community, so we didn't have a beach view. That didn't matter to us because we were closer to the Daiquiri Shack that was across the street from the condos (Yum! Check it out!)! The condos were nice enough, but we didn't spend much time inside because the weather was amazing! The 2 pools are great, and there wasn't much of a crowd considering summer is technically their off-season. The private beach was spectacular! It was very clean and the water was calm enough to float in for hours. The guests are allowed to use the facilities at the Sheraton next door, but why would you because it was way more crowded than ours. I will say the only negative thing about these condos are "the owners". Not the owners of the whole community, but the people who have purchased a condo and vacation there regularly. They would try to boss us around and were very rude on a couple occasions. Other than that, we had an amazing time staying here. I would recommend these condos to anyone!

We went to West Wind II for the first time in January of 2013 and could not have been more pleased. The location is ideal. It is far enough from city center in Nassau to avoid the cruise ship crowd but close to everything that you need. You can take the small buses out of the property called "jitneys" for $1.25 pp and get to just about anything. The complex has only 52 units surrounding two pools and it is right on a beautiful beach. Each unit has two bedrooms an two full baths. As it is a time share complex, each unit comes with a full kitchen, incredibly equipped and there are outside grills by the pools for your barbeque. We took full advantage of these. Jet Blue has direct flights from Boston that depart and arrive Saturday to Saturday at great times. We paid less than $800 for the round-trip flights for both of us. I would not recommend this place for young people looking for night life (although it is around) but for us it was great. The place is whistle clean but not ultra-luxurious. It is a little dated but perfect for us . I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you that the staff at WWII is outstanding and fun. Next door is a Sheraton Hotel with a full casino if, like me, you want to make a donation to the Bahamas. It was one of our best vacations to date and we plan on going back next year.

I travelled as a group of 7(5 adults, 2 children). I was really surprised that there was NO wait at customs(Coming or going home). Everything went very smoothly. The luggage came quickly and there were many extremely friendly taxi's outside. Taxi's have to give you the same price as it is governed. We paid $27, the fee is $18 for 2 ppl from the airport to the resort and $3 for each additional person(children have no fee).

The West Wind 2 is a friendly low key place to relax and enjoy your vacation. You have complete access to the Sheraton hotel next door. I spent my time at there beach and pool as they have loungers and a hot tub.

The West Wind 2 has friendly staff, anything you need just ask. The bar has decent food, the price is somewhat expensive though. They serve $5(non-alcoholic) strawberry smoothies. However there is a daquiry hut across the street in the small shopping market. They have amazing smoothies in many flavours for $6 with alcohol(try the mango or coconut..yum).

I stayed in a ground level villa that had 2 bedrooms(1 queen bed, the other with 2 twin beds), 2 bathrooms and a futon in the living room. It had a full kitchen, private patio and cable TV. The grocery store was about a 10 minute walk up the street. It is VERY pricey. I brought food in my suitcase(instant noodles, microwave popcorn, granola bars, pancake mix, powdered juice, cereal, soy milk etc)

Thr Jitney is a bus you can catch outside the resort. It will take you downtown for $1.25 each way. There is a large straw market downtown were you can do alot of souvenier shopping. You can grab liqour at the many liqour stores (2 downtown ans 2 by the resort close to the grocery store). The prices are the same as the duty free.

If your looking for a fun time then head downdown to Senor Frogs. Great food and the drinks are flowing. Order the YARD size drink!!!

I'd also suggest taking the ferry(or walking across the bridge) and head over to Paradise Island.
