“a must for pirate fans!!”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

If you love all things pirate, you need to go to the Pirate Museum in Nassau! We were blown away by the detailed recreations of pirate life, a portion of a pirate ship, the town, etc. The exhibits were very informative and the creations very lifelike. It's truly authentic, and it was years in the making.

Our teens went through much more quickly than we did, of course, but we read every placard and found it fascinating (Nassau was the hub of piracy in the Caribbean). Take your time and enjoy it (and the air conditioning!). Then be sure to visit the gift shop, which has some cute and cool items.

The museum is one of the more affordable things to do in Nassau, and it's just at the beginning of the town and near the #10 jitney stop from Cable Beach. Afterward, you can wander around Nassau to shop and have lunch.

“What a great little museum”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

Beautifully done, very small, a little pricey but worth the trip. No one mans the exhibits so be aware of others who decide to jump into the exhibit to take pictures.

“Great History Lesson”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

The museum is very cool. There is a lot of history and you can spend a lot of time in there. There were not as many artifacts as I was hoping and it seemed a little bit more geared towards children. Totally worth a visit if you are in the area though.

“We were pirated!”
Reviewed August 26, 2013

A good start, walking through a dimly lit 'dock' replete with tavern and a full size pirate ship hull with the sounds of drinking sailors in the background. But that was it. Nothing happened! No animatronic or 'real' pirates to give you a quick dit about the days of yore. A few lights came on as you walk through the exhibit, then bugger all. So, that was the 'good' bit. Then came the 'exhibits'. Pretty lame, lots of questions and answers on boards, you know the sort of thing 'Did the pirates actually use the 'Jolly Roger'?', 'Does Blackbeard prefer butter to margarine?' (well..perhaps not that one) but you get the idea. Nothing really riveting at all. Very shabby and amateur displays but I DID like the original pirate cutlass (I want one). You'd think that the fully costumed and way over the top and very 'piratey' pirate touting for business outside the museum was a taste of things to come but sadly, it wasn't. Museum shop is OK and seeing as they DO have pirates in the South China Sea, its only fitting that most of the tacky stuff is made there. DEFINITELY not worth the admission fee. Very expensive for what it is . I certainly didn't expect Disneyworld but c'mon guys......I think a walk along a plank is needed (which pirates never used actually but Hollywood did).
