“Great Stay”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

Service, quality, appearance and food was fantastic. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The private beach can't be beat. Quite, relaxing with plenty of near-by activity. In the heart of downtown Nassua. Lots of food chocies. Looking forward to returning to this particular hotel upon another vacation in the Bahamas.

A nice hotel within easy walking distance of main town area. Nice clean hotel with helpful friendly staff, good food and nice pool and beach to unwind after a day's business. Strongly recommend it and I will be returning shortly on more business trips.

This hotel is full of old world charm and I love the story behind it! The staff was super nice and Adrien and Juan at the concierge desk were absolutely outstanding! They helped us book all of our excursions and gave helpful advice of what we would enjoy the most our 8 year old daughter. Our suite was clean and had plenty of towels! The pool area is very nicely cared for and the beach area is small but was perfect for our family! The beach chairs could use some repairs but what hotel doesn't have a flaw or two! Your in the middle of everything.....straw market, McDonald, Dunkin Donuts...ect. The executive lounge also was outstanding with a yummy breakfast, sweet treats in the afternoon and happy hour from 5-7. We will definitely be back!

The hotel was nice and staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice and it was nice looking at the cruise ships that came in and out each day. The pool area was nice and good that you didn't have to pay extra for the cabanas, etc. The outside pool restaurant was good, but a bit expensive.

I would not rate this hotel as a category 6 hotel.

It was frustrating when you had to call housekeeping, they didn't clean our rooms some days and we had to call each day for them to bring towels and face clothes.

My stay at the BCHilton was Friday, 09 Aug-Sunday, 11 Aug. This hotel was booked for $109/night via Priceline.com which was a very good deal since the regular rates are upwards of $180+.

Bottom line - There will always be loud noise and music coming from the surrounding areas of Bay Street. This hotel can cater to business travelers, couples, families, friends and those traveling solo .. IF YOU DON'T MIND THE NOISE :)

Check in time is 4:00pm and I arrived close to 5:30. There was a wedding reception going on during my check-in so there were a lot of people in the lobby, but that did not impact the actual check in process. The check in was simple and quick, the service attendant was very informative regarding the property amenities and the surrounding area. The room key is necessary to access the room as well as the elevator itself, so don't forget it! I was provided a Wifi password upon check in but it is only free in the lobby/beach area, not in the rooms unless you pay extra.
The room was very nice. It came with a mini fridge, coffee/tea machine, iron/ironing board and other typical in-room amenities. There were 4-6 pillows on the bed and they were all clean and comfortable, sheets as well. The bathroom was nice, with lots of towels. The shower is glass and seperate from the tub, but extremely small and awkwardly located behind the bathroom door. The tub was not extremely clean, but I did not use it.
There is a business center that contains several computers for use. The back of the hotel is very nicely kept. There are lots of day beds and places that one can lay out to soak up sun. The pool is very nice and there is a bar not too far from the pool. There was a good amount of adjustable beach chairs that came with the equivalent of an umbrella to block the sun. There was a small hut to the right of the beach where kayaks and body boards could be rented, but I did not see anyone renting out jetskis. I am used to the long stretch of beach by the Sheraton/Wyndham hotels so I was a little disappointed at how small the BCHilton's beach area was, but the hotel's other benefits compensated for that.
This hotel does have restaurants on site, but I know how expensive they can be. Luckily, this hotel is right across from Dunkin Donuts, Conch Fritters, Imperial Takeaway and McDonalds which I'm sure are much cheaper than any on-site facilities. Senor Frogs, the Straw Market and Club Bambu are located around the corner to the left. There is also a public beach located on one side of the hotel that locals tend to frequent, more beach than what is offered by the hotel.
Overall the service was EXCELLENT and my "complaints" are of small importance, just things that I am used to. This hotel is located on Bay Street, which is a hub of activity pretty much all the time, with Arawak Cay (the Fish Fry) and Junkanoo Beach located a couple miles down the way. If you are looking for a hotel that is in close proximity to sight-seeing and shopping and you don't mind the constant noise and music, then this hotel will suit you fine. If you are looking for more of a relaxed, beach-centered stay then I would suggest the Wyndham, Sheraton or one of the more expensive hotels on Paradise Island. I was very pleased with my stay since I got it for such a good price, but I'll only stay at this hotel again when Junkanoo comes around.

Came to the Bahamas for 5 day vacation. Arrived at out hotel around 9am, unfortunately our room was not ready but were checked in and had the concierge store our luggage after we changed into our bathing suits. Started out the vacation with a couple of drinks at the outdoor bar, sat by the water and watched the cruise ships float by, and took a nice long nap under the cabanas. Finally got to our room on the 5th floor around 2:00, very clean, spacious enough, had a great view of the water, and a very comfortable bed. The hotel is centrally located and an easy walk to the fish fry and into downtown Nassau. At first I was regretting that we didn't book into the Atlantis, but after visiting the Atlantis I felt like we had a better "local" experience of Nassau by staying at the Hilton...eating at local restaurants (cafe Matisse was excellent!), walking around downtown, etc. The Atlantis felt like a Vegas-like mock up of the Bahamas. Would definitely return to the British Colonial Hilton.
