“Worst Hilton Hotel I have stayed in!!”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

The bath water was brown and only warm, shower leaked through its door, one bulb in bathroom burnt out on its connections nearly catching fire. One bed room window was boarded up because the glass was cracked, this could be a safety concern as the window was on the sixth flloor and if the glass fell it had the potential to seriously injure someone as there is a main walk way below. Swimming pool was cold, my wife could not use it. People using the hotel from Cruise ships, no room for guests on beach or by pool. Service charges for drinks way over the top. Two computers in Executive lounge did not work/very slow, very old. Both computers in main lounge were good. When I asked about an early check in the desk said OK, then had to wait for three hours. I was told by one desk gentleman that check in was at 4pm, in an abrupt manner. The size of the bed room was very small with very limited draw space, had to use one suitcase for draw space. The room was more like a single room not for two people.
As I am a diamond member I expected better than this. I would not recommend this hotel in anyone and was very disappointed in it.
I have never complained about a hotel in my life, but I will be posting my comments on Trip Adviser with photographs about this hotel.

We just came back from the BC Hilton. I have been saving up Hilton points and we decided to use them at this facility. A few points both positive and negative:

+ The staff was perhaps the friendliest people we have ever encountered at a Hilton property. Everyone greeted us and asked how our stay was. Always smiling and made our stay even more enjoyable.
+ We were upgraded to a suite and as a Gold Member you receive complimentary breakfast buffet (you can upgrade to full buffet for $6 per person). The buffet was very good.
+ Private beach is not large but it is good enough. Yes it is close to Senior Frogs but you really can not hear that much noise.
+ Location, location, location. 200 yards away is a water shuttle service to-from Paradise Island ($8 round trip). If you like to do a little gambling it is perfect to spend some time at the casino or just walk around. Last shuttle leaves at 5:30PM. Other excursions leave from this area too.
+ We thought it was fun to see the cruise ships come in, others may disagree.
+ Good gym with regard to cardio equipment. Suggestion is to get some nicer floor mats for stretching or sit ups.
+ If flying from the US you can bring 1L of booze with you but really the hard liquor prices are extremely cheap. Beer on the other hand is not ($2.5-can)
+ Restaurant at the hotel is good, Brussel's Bistro is very good (suggest you see if they have mussels on the menu) and Van Breugels was outstanding. Not cheap but well worth it.
+ Senor Frog's next door is a fun place. Instead of paying $7 a beer at the pool bar you can get a bucket of beers (5) for $20 and the food is not so bad. And you can enjoy some people watching - even better.
+ Beds were great.

Mind Negatives:
- The rooms do hot have balconies (not an easy fix). I guess it gets you out of the room.
- The standard rooms are a bit small - no complaints about our suite.
- We received water on the first day but that was all. Not a big deal. The mini-fridge was great and you can go next door to the duty free and get a 1L bottle for about $1, or go to food market on Frederic St.
- As a gold member I am used to having access to the Executive Lounge. This is only available if you are a Diamond member or you book your room with this access.
- The hotel is a little tired, the pool is a bit small and the layout is dated. However, they have made all the changes they can make by having a modern lounge and lobby area.
- We did have to pay for cleaning service $10 day standard $15 for suite. As mentioned before 10% tax and 10% service charge is standard everywhere. Again I can not complain using points, to pay $15/day and nothing else is not so bad.
- At night you may see some rats (I mistook one as a cat - it was so big).
-/+ Good or bad the city shuts down depending on when the cruise ships leave. A lot of restaurants are closed on Sun/Mon because there are no ships in the docks after 5:00.

Yes Nassau is expensive but we had a relaxing vacation. End of the day the + outweighed the - especially the level of service which was provided. For Hilton management please thank the staff for being so kind and attentive.

I can't begin to say how wonderful a stay we had at the BC Hilton! The room was quite comfortable..although there was so much to do that we were hardly there! The food was amazing, and the staff treated us like family. The location was perfect: not the all inclusive tourist hotel as one might find on Paradise Island, but a place for travelers and business people, where one is free to explore local goings on without the regret of having missed a prepaid meal. Also without the multitude of people vying for beach chairs at the pool and beach. With its beautiful white sand beach, pretty heated pool, and location right on the harbor, we were enchanted by the coming and going of the many visiting cruise ships. We had a wonderful relaxing week and would loved to have stayed longer.

Room Tip: From our point of view, choose a harbor view room on the 4th floor or higher.

checked in for 5 night stay on a business trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was TINY but clean. My room had an ocean view which was nice. The bed was comfortable, TV worked well, and the wi-fi had a strong signal. However, get ready for additional undisclosed charges, and they will add up! Bullion bar in hotel will charge you for things you didn't order. I did get free breakfast and 10% off meals and bar, but they get it back. Overall, great stay, but watch out!

A typical Business style hotel and it satisfies this purpose by its location.Small beach which is spoilt by surrounding commercial and dock activities.Room OK but did not feel "relaxing" in it's decor and rather functional-even lacked an easy chair or sofa with only an office style chair at the desk.
Spent one night only and then moved to another hotel just 100 yards away at half the price.

I traveled to Nassau, Bahamas for business - so the company picked the hotel. How could I complain though when they put me up in a classic Bahaman building that the Hilton took over and added their classy touches to. This building is beautiful and fits the imagery associated with an older building, a private beach and straw umbrellas over the chairs. The British Colonial Hilton is centered in an interesting alcove of the ocean. Directly across from the private beach in back of the Hilton you can watch the cruise ships floating in. But the benefit of the private beach is that the tourists from all the ships cannot access it, plus the beach is blocked on both sides by high walls, yet the water is magnificent crystalline. Of course you may decide to take the ferry over to Paradise Island where Atlantis is. The Hilton is perfectly situated to all that - walking distance to the ferry, right across from restaurants, the Pirate museum, and the main street that runs through the market places and restaurants of Nassau. Along with being well situated the hotel has well done, simply rooms. My room had a bath tub nicely shaped - an important fixture when traveling endlessly. The cleaning crew was friendly and so efficient - my room was always perfectly orderly. The front desk staff, concierge and restaurant personnel were terrific. The internet was fair priced. The breakfast buffet was massive. Overall, I would highly recommend this for a business hotel stay. Families will appreciate its central locale. However, if you are looking for all inclusive - this is not Atlantis. Oh, Nassau is very expensive - so be prepared. The room is required to have Tax, A tourist levy tax, and service tax. On top of room cost you are looking at about an extra $70. Just be conscious of it - its worth it - overall nice hotel.

Room Tip: 1. I was on first floor - I recommend at least the 2nd floor. 2. The breakfast room can fill up duri...

It feels like every hotel and tourist establishment is getting worse about capturing your hard earned $.
There was a time when you just had to pay the base price plus taxes. Businesses are stepping up with a lot of creativity.

Get ready to pay about $30 extra per night for “energy surcharge” and “maid service”. I knew there was a surcharge but not this high. I guess the surcharge will be forever since oil prices are never going back to $50-70/bbl are they?! You’re not naïve for thinking surcharges are temporary, just wrong.

Then there is paying extra on the room to have breakfast included. Your reservation will say “free breakfast” but that only means your child eats for free. You read that right. Never mind we never added our 3 year old to the reservation system, or that all babies/toddlers eat free when parents pay for breakfast. What did we get for paying more? zilch.

The hotel staff is great and friendly. Room was very nice. A/C does not hit you while lying on the bed. The bathroom was roomy and elegant, as is the room. The beach is convenient but you will smell exhaust from the cruise ships once in a while and there is broken glass at all times of the day, showing up with the waves. They clean it up but so should you if you care about young kids. We would return.

Room Tip: Third floor rooms could be noisy due to the bar room on the first and second (high ceilings) floor.
