Took the water taxi to the Atlantis for only $4.00 per person. During the trip a local man gave us some info on the houses we passed. Asked for a tip at the end of ride but you didn't have to give him anything. Walked through the Atlantis to sight see and then next door to the public, free beach. All in all, worth the 4 bucks!

This is the official WATER TAXI. Be carful, there were Bahamian guys trying to lure people over to their boat where they charged more and asked for tips on top of it. We fell for it once but not 2 times!

We took the water taxi from the cruise port to paradise island. We were planning on going to the beach on PI. We just missed the previous water taxi, so we were loaded onto the next one. We ended up sitting for over half an hour in the ferry waiting. They only go when the ferry is completely full. When we finally got moving, a smelly local got onboard and talked about the houses as we went by. Before we got off, he went around and demanded tips. We were upset about the loss of our vacation time. Then we found out that the ferry dropped us off on the opposite side of the island from where the beaches were. It's at least a mile walk to the beach. We lost 1 hour of our time getting to the beach-and our cruise ship was only in nassau from noon to 6:30pm.
When we left, we took a regular taxi which costs the same as the water taxi. They drop you off right at the beach, and you don't have to wait around.
Next time, we'll use only a taxi.
I hope I can save some people the hassle of taking this horrible service.

OK, I am guessing that the people who gave a negative review have never been on a small boat before. Charge was $4.00. Leaves every 1/2 hr on the 1/2 hr from the cruise ship terminal. Short ride to Paradise Island where there is a short walk to Atlantis or the beach. Boat might not be new, but it is well maintained. It was full, but a seat for everyone. There was a guy on the boat that gave a funny explaination of the sites we passed. He asked for a tip at the end. He was very polite about it. Don't see why you wouldn't tip him. Cab charges same price, takes longer, and you would tip the driver even if he did not say a word. Also, you don't see as many sights from cab. We took cab on way back from Cabage beach. it was fine too.

We wanted to go visit Paradise Island for a few hours, so we walked over to the pier area. A man told us the "ferry" would leave in 10 minutes. We paid $4.00 each. They asked if we wanted to pay for a round trip ticket, but I had a funny feeling and said no, we would buy the return tickets on the way back. We got aboard a little boat and waited and waited and waited until the boat was totally full. We then started across to Paradise Island while some guy told us about some of the houses we were passing. It was hard to hear him and not sure if he was making it up or not. At the end, he said he was working for tips. We gave him a couple of bucks. They said the return boats leave Paradise Island every 30 minutes and the last one would be at 5:30. We visited the casino and some shops and went back to the dock at about 4:00. There were 4 other people waiting and some locals hanging out. We finally saw the return boat come by and drop off passengers, then he left and was driving slowing back and forth in front of the dock, then left. We asked one of the locals what was going on, and he said, ask that other guy over there. The other guy wasn't helpful, so we decided to just take a taxi. As 4 of us were walking away, another boat driver said he would take us. We took him up on his offer and paid $4.00 for the return trip. We would never take the water taxi again. They are on their own schedule, won't make trips unless the boat is full, you can't count on them to return you to Nassau, and is not regulated. Spend a few extra dollars and take a car taxi!
