Very nice setting for various local exhibitions and fairs. Was there for the International food fair and had a great time

This attraction gets a big plug in the leading travel guides. So we took the trek from Paradise Island to visit. We were greeted at the gate with the message that "the gardens are still under construction and there's really nothing to see." Bummer!

The gardens of Nassau must have been spectacular when build in mid 20th century. Originally Nassau's quarry from which limestone blocks were used to build most of the surrounding forts. It was abandon and eventually converted by a benevolent society into a large botanical garden. However time and lack of resources is showing its mark. The water fall into the pond is non operating and vegetation is slowly overgrowing over some of the key plants. Another option for a botanical experience is a walk throughout the National Trust Retreat located on Village road.

I had the advantage of walking through the garden with one of the employees. He was able to explain to me all the various kinds of plants and how this place is important to Nassau. The typical tourist may find this pretty boring, but those who have an interest in botany might enjoy this place. I was able to taste some of the fruits produced in the garden, and some of the structures were explained as well. Most tourists would consider this more like a park. It's free to walk through during business hours. Located half a block from Ardastra Gardens, it is a good supplement to Ardastra for understanding the botany of the Bahamas. My rating is not based on how well I enjoyed it since I loved it; my rating is based on what most tourists expect of a tourist attraction.

It was interesting to walk through the Botanical Gardens, but they were still a MESS. Did not even look like they were making an attempt to repair the hurricane damage. Stroll Down Bay Street and look at the beautiful landscaped yards or visit the "Pink Church" instead. Go to Downtown Nassau and eat at the Poop Deck at the Marina on the east side of Down Town. Great food, good atmosphere. Casual dress, but great food.
In Marsh Harbour Go to Conky Joe's for THE best Conch fritters and conch salad in the world.......
