“Great place to visit”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

My husband and I had a great time at Bay Street! My son enjoyed it as well..,, very much a touch of relaxation to remember. The places to eat in the area is very reasonable for your pocket.

“Bay Street ... T-Shirts and Jewelry”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

This is one long street aimed at separating tourists from their money. At one end is the Pirate Museum (a nice attraction I reviewed separately) and a McDonalds (with free wi-fi, handy to know if you're paying $50/hour on a cruise ship). The rest is an unending strip of stores selling tshirs interspersed with stores selling jewelry. Not sure why anyone would spend $1000 and several days cruising to Nassau to buy a watch. We did find a nice selection of hand-made local Christmas ornaments and decorations in the linen shop. If you like to shop on vacation, you'll have fun on the street. If you travel to see history, or local flavor, etc., this will be a large disappointment and I'd recommend looking at the excursions your ship offers to see something else.

“A typical Caribbean port town”
Reviewed January 1, 2013

Shops that sell tourist stuff, diamonds, straw baskets and purses, tee shirts and bars. When the cruise ships are in this is busy and when they leave in the evening, they roll up the street.

“Tyipcal Touristy Attractions”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

If you're into the touristy scene with straw baskets, t-shirts, and wood carvings flanking every booth in the Straw Market, this is for you. The rest of Bay street (besides Straw Market) is full of other touristy and duty free stores. We weren't terribly impressed, but we've done it now.
