“History”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

I was walking by the area when I realized this was Parliament Square. Very old historical buildings that are worth walking around. Could not get inside as it was Sunday and they were closed. Piece of Nassau history and worth the visit.

“Nothing to write home about”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

It's worth a walk by, but nothing fascinating here. If you are walking by then it's worth a quick visit but I would not recommend going out of your way.

“Highlight of Nassau Visit”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

The Parliament House with its bubble-gum colored exterior and super-clean square is one of the few remaining sights in Nassau worth a visit. Of course, this is a "working" building and access is limited. On a recent cruise stop we wanted to retrace our steps from 10 years ago, when we loved walking around this Caribbean city with its joyful atmosphere. Alas! that is no more. The first thing to greet you is a huge indoor marketplace with nothing unique to offer. Next, you have the enduring rank of horse-and-buggy ride vendors. From there on, it was a shock to see the impact of the economic down-turn on this previously vibrant town. Yes, you can find high-end stores for tourists and posh hotels along the beaches, but most of downtown Nassau looks derelict: Closed shops, broken windows, dilapidated buildings, bad roads. Some other points of interest are Christ Church Cathedral, the Queen's Staircase, Government House and the Cenotaph, a concrete tribute to Bahamian veterans of WWI and WWII. If a visit to the town of Nassau is offered as a ship's excursion, skip it. It's not worth the money. Walk around on your own. Any Bahamian is proud to answer what questions you may have. Many are well-informed about their country and its history.

“Interesting Place”

I loved the way they decorated Parliament Square for the 40 year independence. I loved looking at all the history of the Bahamas. It was very clean and well kept.
