Owner description: Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas is Nassau's leading full service dive centre. Originally opened in 1979, the operation has grown to a fleet of nine dive vessels, with five of the boats over 40 feet in length. Located on the Southwest side of Nassau/New Providence Island, Stuart Cove's is in the ideal location to take advantage of the most diverse diving the Bahamas has to offer. Walls, reefs, wrecks and sharks! There something for everyone from beginner divers to experts. Holiday travelers who have never been diving before will enjoy the 3-hour "Learn To Dive Program". In this program guests will be introduced to the equipment used in the sport of diving in a swimming pool, receive an introduction into the basics of diving, and then complete their first ocean dive. All of this takes place under the supervision of a professional dive instructor. 2-tank dive trips are offered both moring and afternoon with 2-tank Shark dives offered every afternoon. Night dives are available on selected evenings with a minimum of 6 guests. Dive sites encompass steep vertical walls that plummet to 6,000 feet of depth, shallow tropical reefs, 13 different locations containing ship or airplane wrecks, and numerous locations that were used as underwater movie sets for feature films. The feature activities at Stuart Cove's for our divers is our "Extreme Shark Adventure". The Shark Adventure program is a 2-tank dive trip that takes divers on an underwater encounter with Caribbean Reef Sharks. On the first dive divers participate in a "free swim" with the sharks along a beautiful wall. On the second dive, the group forms a semi-circle on the 40-foot bottom and watch while a professional shark feeder enters the water with a box of bait. Upon reaching the bottom, the feeder begins feeding the sharks with the aid of a pole spear. To say the sharks come close to the divers is an understatement - they are everywhere! However, Stuart Cove's is not exclusively about diving. It's about sharing the underwater world with as many people as possible. Have a non-diving buddy? We have snorkel dedicated trips that take guests to a variety of shallow reef sites and even visits the sharks weather permitting. Want something more exciting? How about our personal submarines? SUB Bahamas takes adventurers on a trip around a shallow reef and allows them to snorkel as well on a custom boat.

“Sub-Dive (underwater scooters)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

Although we didn't see the variety of fish we were hoping for (not their fault), we did see quite a few of 2-3 varieties. There were several guides who were very friendly and extremely helpful. You don't need to know how to swim. The "scooters" were a lot of fun and easy to maneuver. $124 per person. Very nice. If you are on a cruise and only have a limited time to visit Nassau, this excursion will take up most of the day, unless you don't mind walking around Nassau in your swim suit. If you want to go back to the ship and get spiffed up to do some sightseeing, not enough time.

“Got hit by a shark tail - best day ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2014 via mobile

I did the shark feeding dive which was absolutely amazing! Best $ ever spent. A shark got way too close and hit me in the face with his tail fin. I was so happy! Up close and personal with the sharks. They are amazing creatures. The staff are very professional as well. They were fast to respond when the shark banged into me but they saw I enjoyed it and were glad it didn't upset or scare me. I recommend this dive to any thrill seeker or shark lover. There were 30 to 40 large reef sharks circling above. It was wonderful. I did this a few years ago but just writing the review now because it stands out as one of my favourite trip experiences :)

“Shipwreck/Wall Dive …with NCL”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014

Tucker Ship Wreck/Wall dive and Elk Horndive ….. thru NCL $159 with scuba diving equipment. Great boat but due to weather conditions, very rough 20 minute ride.
Half hour drive out to the scuba diving area. Water included but no snack - a banana or granola bar would have been nice.

Caution: beginning divers this could be a bit much - you're expected to dive independently (with your assigned buddy, of course.) Of the eight divers on the boat, only 5 did the second dive (which they had paid for) ….

Very much worth it for us. We finally had purchased underwater casing for our camera and so it was great to use it to take a few photos, too.

Me and my cousin went for a shark dive this Carnival, at the same time that her parents were on a snorkeling tour.
It was amazing! There were some Italians with us in the boat and the shark feeder (don't remember his name) gave them a briefing in Spanish, as they didn't speak English.
As there were no personnel that spoke Spanish in the snorkeling tour, they found a Brazilian guide that did the briefing for my uncles before they went on the boat.
Everyone was so helpful and the dive was amazing.
The only thing is their shop is really far from the hotel area and we didn't get to see it sooner. It was a little bit unsettling, but the company is great and I definitely recommend them and the shark dive.

“Great snorkeling trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2014

we did 3 sites visit - $140 for myself and my husband. We loved it - got to swim with sharks, saw where jaws was filmed and where part of the pirates of the carribean movie was filmed, snorkeled at these sites. Just beware - do NOT buy the fish food they offer, the captain throws food off the boat to attract the fish, and if you have food in your hands, you run the risk of a big fish biting your hand to get the food (this happened to me within 5 seconds of getting into the water at the first site - and the fish had TEETH...)
