“Beautiful Beach Now with Amenities”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

I've been to Honeymoon Beach several times, and yesterday's visit was definitely the best. When it comes to this beach, timing plays a big part as to how much you'll enjoy your visit. Since Honeymoon is a popular beach for day sail excursions, it can get somewhat crowded when a ship pulls in. I was on the beach between noon and 1 pm, and there were very few people enjoying the sun and sand.

I really appreciate the new watersports facility set up by VI EcoTours, because you can now rent chairs, get cold beverages, and use a clean restroom. Since Honeymoon Beach is only accessible by hike or boat, in the past you had to carry those items if you wanted refreshment. For those who want a more active beach experience, you now have Stand Up Paddleboards and kayaks that you can rent so you can easily explore beyond the shore.

Best to visit this beach early in the morning or late afternoon if you want to avoid the chance of crowds. If you're visiting in Aug or Sep, however, the beach probably won't be crowded at any time of the day.

Enjoy!

“The best!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2012

Honeymoon Beach was the best beach we visited on St. John, and we tried out almost everything that's easily accessible. The only downside is that you have to hike in, either from Cruz Bay or through the Caneel Bay Resort. There's room for a few cars along the road at the resort entrance, or you can pay to park inside and walk a little less. We were there a week before the resort opened for the season, and I don't know if they'll let you walk through without paying if they're open but we didn't have any problems. The walk along what's basically an unpaved road is pretty easy, just a little up and down.

The beach at the end of the walk is well worth it. The best snorkeling was at the west side, toward Solomon Bay. We saw the widest variety of fish, as well as a ray and a turtle. A good-size grouper followed me around for a while. The reef seemed relatively healthy compared to some of the other beaches.

Dear R,

Thank you for your efforts to visit Honeymoon Beach.
We just wanted to reassure you that there is no camping at Honeymoon Beach.
We now have "donkey proof" garbage cans installed at the beach and the garbage is removed on a daily basis.
We look forward to welcoming you back on a less busy day.
Sincerely,
Sybille

“Nice beach with good snorkeling”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2012

We spent our last day of our Honeymoon at Honeymoon beach. We were the only beachgoers for the majority of the day. A few boats were anchored nearby letting swimmers off to snorkel. We also snorkeled between Honeymoon and Solomon Bay and saw a sea turtle. There was nice coral and lots of fish. The amenities were closed on the day we visited, but we heard from another person that the facilities are nice and they offer water sports equipment too. I'd definitely recommend a visit here.

“Must See”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

It's an extremely nice beach, located between Caneel Bay Resort and Cruz Bay in St John. There are no bathrooms, showers or lunch place on the beach so be prepared for that and you can only get there by trail or boat. Also don't forget your snorkel gear! Would recommend it to anyone if you can make the time for it!
