From Blackbeard, Bluebeard, and Teach, prepare for a spooky experience and hear tales of shipwrecks and the eerie legends that haunt the islands to this day.

My son and I just got back from St. John and our eco-tour (hike and snorkel) guided by Tyler had to be the most memorable part of the trip. Tyler really knows his plant-life, gave a thorough history of the island, and had helpful recommendations for places to eat. There was no question he couldn't answer, and Honeymoon Beach was just as beautiful as he said it would be. First time snorkeling for both my son and I. We were so impressed by the tour, we ventured out ourselves on another trail/another beach (Solomon's) the next day. We'd highly recommend this tour and Tyler.

My wife and I opted for the full day tour from St. John's Honeymoon beach, which is one of our best memories from our entire vacation. Ed catered the tour to our personal interests and was accommodating to our request to focus on snorkeling. Lunch was awesome and so ample that we had leftovers. We always felt very cared for as everything was well planned, including recharging M&M snacks after our kayaking efforts. The water currents became strong, but we always felt safe as Ed proactively tethered our kayaks mid-trip crossing the bay.

In comparison, we went on an off-shore tour with a different scuba company later in our trip, but favored the eco-tour. The eco-related things we learned enriched the remainder of our vacation, including how to engage with tarantulas. Best off, it was well worth the tour since we were able to explore areas that we would not have been able to see on our own (private property). Well worth it and would go on the other tours they offer on our next visit. Highly recommended!

My girlfriend purchased this ecotour for us as a birthday gift to me so obviously, to me, the value was great. We were the only group in the tour so it was very easy to go at our own pace. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hike to the beach from the ferry on St. John was a bit more difficult than we were told so be sure to bring good shoes and give yourself a little more time to walk there. The sights here were unbelievable. The hike portion of the tour was great but the snorkel portion of the tour was the best. We tried to search for some sea turtles that we saw in the kayak ride in but couldn't spot them at first. Our guide kept an eye out for them while we were packing up our gear and sure enough, a turtle was spotted. We quickly put our gear back on and headed out so I felt that we had the complete experience.

My husband and I received PHENOMENAL service from everyone at Virgin Islands Eco Tours we encountered at Honeymoon Beach on St. John. When we missed the ferry for our morning tour, we were rescheduled for the afternoon, no questions asked. We were able to rent snorkel equipment that morning, order food for lunch from Caneel Resort, and did the kayak/hike/snorkel tour in the afternoon with Patrick. INCREDIBLE! Patrick goes above and beyond to educate and make everyone feel comfortable. He took awesome photos for us on the underwater camera we rented (recommended!) And helped us find all the wildlife possible, including turtles, fish and tarantulas. A must do tour for anyone in the area!

My daughter and I recently went to USVI for a few days. We went the last week in July, it was a great time to go, the beaches were not crowded and the weather was wonderful. It rained the first day when we flew in, and there was a brief tropical shower a few mornings, but by 9am the weather was glorious.
We took the Red Hook ferry over to St. John's for this tour. It was the best day of our vacation. The tour starts from the most peaceful beautiful remote sandy beach, Honeymoon bay. Our tour guide, Patrick, was very knowledgeable and humorous, and made the tour very unique. We had a very small group, just 4 total, and Patrick was able to answer lots of questions and spend time pointing out particular local flora and fauna. We practically had the whole beach, bay and hiking trail to ourselves.
To start, we signed the standard release forms, and put most of our stuff in lockers that they had there. They also had nice (small) restrooms if you wanted to change clothes. We kayaked from the sandy beach at Honeymoon across a few little bays to another remote sandy beach where we beached our kayaks to hike the little loop trail. We wore sturdy flip flops, and they were ok, but we should have taken water shoes of some sort. The hike has several rocky uphill and downhill stretches, and you are rewarded with some breathtaking views. The trail loops back to the same beach, and we snorkeled from there.
The water was the clearest I have ever seen, (it was not the dull gray/cloudy visibility you sometimes get when everything is stirred up, like we had at Trunk Bay earlier that week)
You could see all the colors of the tropical fishes. Patrick took us on a loop in the bay, pointing out various fishes and diving to take pictures. While all of us were looking down, he kept his eyes open and guided us to see three green sea turtles feeding. They were fascinating to watch, and one came up to the surface 3 feet in front of me. FANTASTIC!! We also saw several sting rays, squid, conch, worms that look like anemones and at least a million colorful tropical fish. We spent a good long time snorkeling, I never felt rushed.
After the snorkeling, we kayaked back to Honeymoon Bay, which was the end of the tour. We enjoyed the beach so much, we walked to Caneel resort (right next door) and ordered lunch, and then walked back to the EcoTours area on Honeymoon Bay. Patrick and Nathan then helped us with beach chairs and we tried paddle boarding, (not as easy as it looks). We practically had the beach to ourselves (we did have to share with two donkeys) We spend the rest of the day there. Patrick even recommended a local restaurant for dinner, and we took a cab back into Cruz Bay. We had dinner, did a little shopping, and took one of last ferries back to St. Thomas.
All in all, it was a great day, and Patrick and Nathan were wonderful.
