This is a beautiful bay that is usually nice and quiet. The snorkeling is fine as well. Take a picnic, a blanket, your snorkel gear and enjoy the afternoon.

The road to this beach is a little rough, I would not attempt it in a small car, but if you have a jeep or larger vehicle it is worth it. The beach is absolutely beautiful, there are very few people there (when we arrived, there were only 2 others there, when we left several hours later, there may have been 6-8 others there). You can park right at the beach. Snorkeling is good off to the left side around the rocks. We saw some coral here that we had not seen at other beaches. We were there with our 3 and 5 year old, with a life vest, our 5 year old was able to snorkel there. There are picnic tables and you can easily pack a lunch, or better yet, hit Miss Lucys on your way back to town! It is definitely one of my favorite beaches on St. John and we will return there again next time we are there.

This is our second favorite beach on St. John. Yes, the access road is bumpy (probably 5-10 minutes past Salt Pond), but it was not crowded and the water was very calm while the North Swells were acting up. Plus, it has a bathroom, the parking is along the beach, and there are some picnic tables. A must see beach for us. It is probably a 15-20 minute drive from Coral Bay and a 45 minute drive from Cruz Bay. Have a 4WD vehicle.

Make sure you have a Jeep for this one. The road is fairly rough. Nice beach area and the Dharma Initiative uhhh I mean VIERS and the Tektite Museum near by are worth visiting, the Tektite Projects are fascinating. Some good snorkeling here too but Great Lameshur is even better.

It's an awful long drive from Cruz Bay; there is a section or two of road near the end where you feel you're taking, if not your own life, the well-being of your car in your hands; there isn't a lot of shade and the wind blows the unbrellas away. Apart from that, it's lovely, and the snorkeling is very good, especially if you have the stamina to make it all the way to the point where the corals start to be good.
