“Stunning views”

Without a doubt Hawksnest beach is my all time favorite beach on St John (or anywhere). My husband's favorite is Cinnamon bay and while I like Cinnamon I find the views from Hawksnest even more beautiful and the beach always seems to be a bit more private. Heaven on earth for me.

“Beautiful beach/scenery but...”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

...we were told to check this place out as more of a "locals" beach and less crowded. It was definitely a "locals" beach, as we felt like we got "the look" when we showed up. It was crowded as well, and my guess is they don't upkeep the facilities because we smelled dookie from the parking area! We did a quick walk by (the beach area WAS beautiful) but the smell, crowds, and looks sent us back to our vehicle and on to another beach, and we never went back. Oh well. There's way too many other beaches to see...

“First beach we saw”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

Stopped here as it was the first beach we saw on out first day in St. John. Was late in the afternoon when we got there wasn't a lot of people there. Beach is in a cove so almost no waves. sand was soft. Beach is only a couple hundred yards long. Nice beach but there are better ones out there.

“Overlooked beach”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

We stopped at this beach for the first time after visiting Trunk Bay on our way back to Cruz Bay.
Wow! Spectacular! Tranquil and not crowded. It was our favorite beach on St John and visited it several times while there. There were a lot of locals there and they told us Hawksnest Beach often gets passed by on people going to more popular north shore beaches which is fine with them.
The beach is easy accessed from road, no problem parking while we were there. There are pavilions, restrooms.
The sand was great and the snorkeling excellent. The beach looks prettier than a postcard.
We recommend stopping there, and you wouldn't be disappointed.

“My favorite”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

We traveled to just about all the beaches on the north shore and Hawksnest was my favorite. I don't exactly know what it was about it but we went to it TWICE. The beach was long, water was calm and there were many places to snorkel close to shore if you aren't the strongest swimmer. This beach was less crowded than Trunk but does have changing rooms and bathrooms!
